“Quick setup for projects”

Pros

Getting projects up and running is where it really shines. I've built several ESP8266 and Arduino Uno projects with it and without it, writing the server side and mobile GUI from scratch would have taken hours.

Cons

Switching from the cloud version to a privately hosted Blynk server can be tricky especially for users who don't have much of a computer systems background.

“Handy remote control from anywhere”

Pros

Being able to create an interface for the hardware I use at home is a huge plus. It lets me handle tasks and manage things from my phone, even when I'm away from home.

Cons

Sometimes the interface and connections can be a bit unreliable and security is still something I think about. It also seems like compatibility with older hardware can be hit or miss.

“Most versatile platform I've used”

Pros

I think this has been the most versatile platform I've used for Internet of Things projects. It works well with most of the popular microcontrollers, including Arduino, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi and others. Setting up triggers and connecting them to the microcontroller is also very simple.

Cons

The only thing I'd really like to see improved is more control over widget customization such as adjusting size, color, font and similar properties.

“Brilliant app for controlling IoT devices”

Pros

It is an excellent app for controlling IoT devices such as ESP8266 modules and Arduino development boards. It lets you build attractive interfaces for monitoring sensors like temperature and humidity and you can even view surveillance camera feeds. Another really useful feature is the widget support which allows you to place controls and live data right on your Android home screen so devices can be managed with a single tap. The part I appreciate most is how well it helps create polished, good-looking control panels for devices like the ESP8266.

Cons

It is not completely free. It gives you a limited amount of internal credits that you use to unlock components for the interface you design. For medium or larger projects, those credits usually run out pretty quickly which means you have to spend real money to buy more and continue expanding your project.

“accessible platform for IoT work”

Pros

Working with it was really helpful for my IoT project. I used it for my final project on an IoT monitoring system and it supported the whole setup well. The software is user-friendly, simple to understand and never felt complicated to use. The widgets were all clear and everything I needed was already available there. Big thanks to the developers for creating such a useful and accessible platform for IoT work.

Cons

An issue came up while I was building my project. I was using a Bluetooth HC05 module as the wireless connection between my Arduino and Blynk but at that time HC05 was not supported because that widget was still under development. I couldn't switch to Wi-Fi since I didn't have internet access at home so I had to rely on the Bluetooth module. Hopefully the developers continue improving Blynk and expand support across all available widgets.

“Solid fit for mid-range clients”

Pros

We've been recommending it to a number of our mid-range clients and it handles what they need quite well.

Cons

The user interface has been a bit challenging. We've gotten used to the way it works but some of our users still run into difficulties with it. That said, it's definitely not a deal breaker.

“Connects with multiple devices”

Pros

I like it's ability to connect with multiple devices at the same time. At our organization, I used it to build a phone-controlled electric fan so the fan could be operated directly from a mobile device. It also helped that the app supports both major mobile platforms since we developed it for both iOS and Android. Another strong point was the dashboard creation process. Our team built several impressive dashboards with Blynk and the drag-and-drop feature made it possible to design custom layouts without much hassle.

Cons

I did not come across anything that felt unnecessary for software of this type. It already has a lot of potential and the only thing I would really like to see in future updates is Blynk expanding further, possibly by offering its own ERP software down the line.

“simple to get the hang of”

Pros

The overall concept is very simple to grasp. I've used it myself with Arduino and a WiFi module and the whole process felt clear and easy to work with.

Cons

Applying the concept and using the software felt quite simple throughout.

“Offer a range of subscription plans for startups”

Pros

Building mobile IoT app prototypes with it has been excellent. The biggest advantage is that it requires no coding and the drag-and-drop UI makes everything much more approachable. They also offer a range of subscription plans for startups, businesses and larger enterprises which is helpful. Blynk Cloud is another valuable feature that adds to the platform.

Cons

Something I'd still like to see is the team being more active about sharing code on GitHub in the open-source community. If they continue releasing new features, this platform will remain extremely useful for users.

“Clean gauges and charts”

Pros

Plenty of prebuilt scripts are available for almost any project and most of the time they only need small tweaks. The connection feels secure and reliable and the interface elements like buttons, gauges and charts are clean and simple to use. It's also convenient that all the technical settings for configuring the user interface, including buttons and similar controls, can be handled directly from the mobile app.

Cons

Exporting large amounts of data from this tool is difficult. On the local server version, the database and stored data are also hard to locate and MQTT setup is not included. Another issue is that temperature values and other readings get automatically deleted after a certain point.

“can use it with Python”

Pros

Getting into IoT became much more approachable once I started using it. It helped me a lot in understanding how IoT works and the part I appreciated most was the option to use it with Python.

Cons

I don't have any major complaints about it. At the beginning, it felt a bit challenging to learn and use but after some time it became much more manageable.

“Worth every penny”

Pros

You get a lot for the price. It comes packed with features and the interface feels very user-friendly to use.

Cons

Setup can be a bit complex depending on your device and operating system but since it's only a one-time process, the effort is worth it.

“useful for DIY projects”

Pros

It brings the software and hardware side together in a simple interface. It's fairly simple to use overall and it's especially helpful for people who enjoy building DIY projects.

Cons

Getting started can be a bit challenging if you don't already have experience with the core software since there's definitely a learning curve. I also ran into the issue of some widgets being locked.

“extremely flexible”

Pros

Using it has been very simple and it offers a lot of flexibility. The interface works really simply with Arduino and ESP8266 boards which makes it a perfect fit for people who enjoy DIY projects.

Cons

Current platform doesn't seem to be getting any further development, even though it already feels quite complete. A new improved version was announced but there still hasn't been any update or news about when it will be available.

“Worth the investment”

Pros

This is actually the only app I've ever spent money on for in-app purchases and it was worth it. Setting it up across multiple devices is incredibly simple: grab the authentication code, upload it to your device, drag and drop the elements and everything is ready to go. One feature I really appreciated is the option to run it on a local host for added security so you're not forced to rely on the cloud when you can keep it running on your own machine. At one stage, I had my entire house outfitted with ESP8266-based home automation devices and I could even share Blynk screens with my family.

Cons

I never ran into anything that felt missing from the software.

“Centralized cloud-based platform”

Pros

Having everything in one cloud-based platform makes project communication and functionality integration really impressive. It lets you build and design apps that can remotely control and monitor projects from practically anywhere which adds a lot of flexibility and convenience.

Cons

There is definitely a learning curve with it especially if you don't have coding experience. That said, I wouldn't call that a flaw in the software itself, it just takes time and some technical knowledge to really get the most out of everything it offers.

“Versatile hardware integration”

Pros

It works with a wide range of hardware and is really useful for internet-based alerts and logging setups. There are also plenty of examples out there which makes it much easier to get projects up and running.

Cons

I haven't gone all the way to building a complete app with it but from what I can tell, it seems like development may stay within the Android ecosystem. It's not a major downside, just a small point that made me pause.

“valuable functionality”

Pros

Even without much coding knowledge, this app opens up a wide range of functionality for projects especially when adding wireless communication. The drag-and-drop setup is honestly amazing and makes building things feel much more accessible.

Cons

The authentication token expires too often so it has to be renewed every time you want to reconnect which gets frustrating.
