“Exactly What We Needed
Pros
It offers a user-friendly experience, and the training options and customer support are exceptional.
Cons
To make sure the reports are accurate, the data must be consistent and clean. Otherwise, you may find the reports slightly distorted.

“Find payroll solutions elsewhere
Pros
This software is excellent for allocating funds to multiple sources. As a grant-funded non-profit, we need to separate shared costs, and Financial Edge handles this task exceptionally well.
Cons
The payroll module in Financial Edge is, without a doubt, the worst part of the software. Unless I manually enter each employee's time every day, there is no way to keep daily time records. Entering time for each pay period manually is incredibly labor-intensive, and we faced difficulties importing time records since FE lacks a timekeeping solution.

“BB Financial Edge - a Perfect Solution for non profit accounting
Pros
It stands out for its ease of use, implementation and customer support.
Cons
As our company has grown, we have to find different ways to get our work done and it is due to the integration with Raiser's Edge. On the other hand the attributes in Raiser's Edge have been incredibly helpful on numerous occasions.

“Simple to Use
Pros
Both Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge, which we use, have a similar setup. They are very user-friendly, and it's easy to search for invoices. I also like that I have the quick access to recently viewed vendors.
Cons
Sometimes, when the same vendor sends multiple invoices with slightly different numbers, FE mistakenly warns about potential duplicate invoices. The numbers are just similar, not duplicates. Additionally, the online support link within FE fails to open.

“Financial Edge is a Great Product
Pros
Financial Edge is the ideal product, especially when working alongside Raiser's Edge. It serves as the perfect companion for accounting tasks.
Cons
The learning curve for this software is steep, however, once you learn the basics of its capabilities, you'll absorb a lot of knowledge.

“Financial Edge NXT
Pros
Financial Edge NXT is relatively user-friendly. The search feature is intuitive, and the software can be quite useful, depending on your familiarity with it and the amount of information you input. The more effort you invest, both in terms of data input and learning, the more you will benefit from it.
Cons
I wish all the Blackbaud programs integrated more seamlessly across platforms. I often find myself opening multiple programs to obtain comprehensive information.

“Save yourself a lot of trouble
Pros
While Blackbaud offers a comprehensive, flexible and useful solution, unfortunately, the poor customer service and high cost make it an unsuitable choice for any institution.
Cons
Once Blackbaud hooks you in, you're trapped, and they start raising the prices. Sometimes, the increase is three times the original amount, and it negatively affects your company. It's definitely not a good option for non-profits!

“This product really can only get better
Pros
It seamlessly integrates with our fundraising software, Raiser's Edge, which I am equally thrilled about, primarily for the same reasons mentioned earlier. Blackbaud provides a good training program, although considering the product license fees, it would be preferable for it to be free.
Cons
The reporting functionality is confusing, and there's a lack of a self-service audit trail. Additionally, the interface is not intuitive.

“Financial Edge - the application that works with Raiser's Edge
Pros
If you are using Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge (RE) software and require another application for accounting functions, Financial Edge (FE) is the ideal solution. It handles vendor tracking, accounts receivable, accounts payable and more. Instead of using a separate accounting application like QuickBooks, Financial Edge integrates with Raiser's Edge. When gifts are posted in Raiser's Edge, the information is updated in Financial Edge. Batch numbers, appeals, funds, and campaigns migrate from RE to FE. The user interface and overall experience between Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge are consistent. If you are familiar with RE, then FE will be easy to learn. If you are hosted by Blackbaud, then you will be looking for FE/NXT.
Cons
While there is a significant level of integration between Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge, it comes at a cost. The Financial Edge application is expensive compared to other financial software options. If you host FE on-premise, Blackbaud charges based on the number of users. Moreover, you need a server with SQL to run FE, unlike QuickBooks, which can be installed on a local PC. If you opt for Blackbaud's hosting, you'll need to consider FE/NXT, and again, price becomes the main concern.

“Financial NXT is a must!
Pros
Overall, Financial Edge provides a solid foundation for managing accounting, grants and other projects. It offers customizable dashboards and views which makes it easy to monitor accounts and generate detailed reports. The software allows smooth financial processing, eliminating the need for manual work. It even allows you to set budgets for the upcoming years.
Cons
All Blackbaud products come with a high price tag, but I believe they are worth the cost. We use a variety of Blackbaud products, although I do think their customer service could be improved. They provide numerous video tutorials and knowledge base articles, but some features can still be a bit difficult to understand.

“One if the easiest of the Black Baud software.
Pros
It tracks every transaction made through online donation forms, Raiser's Edge and Raiser's Edge NXT. You can search by dates, batch numbers, names and even amounts, providing versatility in your search options. Financial Edge is also simple and easy to set up.
Cons
When working in a large workplace, Financial Edge can be frustratingly slow at times. I discussed this with our tech team, and they mentioned that it's an issue with the website/software and our building.

“Great to stay up-to-date
Pros
This software was the best choice for our organization, given our large staff in need of quick access to financial and budget information. Being a cloud-based system allows our staff to access information promptly from anywhere in the world, keeping them informed.
Cons
Speed is a concern, even in areas where we have a fiber internet connection. The load time leaves much to be desired, and I see this as a significant area for improvement.

“Transitioned from American Fundware
Pros
I don't believe there are any more pros compared to American Fundware. Come on, Blackbaud, let's address some of these concerns. American Fundware was a perfectly good software that accomplished tasks in seconds with just a few clicks, unlike the current system which takes much longer.
Cons
The software is unacceptably slow, particularly when working with F9 and the allocation module. It's a debilitatingly slow process, and I must admit, I'm not a big fan.

“Good software
Pros
The ease of use of this product for financial management is something I really like. It keeps things simple and accurate with user-friendly page layouts.
Cons
Financial Edge is a very basic software. While it gets the job done, it lacks any wow factors or a visually appealing interface.

“great app! very useful.
Pros
One of the best features of this product is that it eliminates the need for manual financial transaction processing. It provides automated tools that handle the processes, requiring only input of details.
Cons
Personally, I haven't encountered any issues with this product. It has proven to be highly useful, especially in financial fields, and I believe it's worth the price.

“Previous User of this product
Pros
I find this product extremely useful for fund accounting. Additionally, I like the available features for tracking and researching GL items.
Cons
The only problem we faced was with uploading data from other software programs to Financial Edge. However, we have been using this product for several years, and it has served us very well.

“Best to use for financial planning!
Pros
This product is very much helpful when it comes to projecting budgets for the next few years. It allows for easy comparisons between current and past years which helps us identify areas where changes are needed. Moreover, it simplifies sharing data with staff members who are not necessarily financial experts, making it clear for everyone.
Cons
The grant accounting feature is a valuable tool, but it's not something we actively use at our non-profit organization. I would love to explore its potential further in the future.

“My review of Financial Edge NXT
Pros
What I like about this software is that it is designed specifically for finance and accounting professionals. It has greatly assisted me in carrying out my daily job functions with minimal disruptions.
Cons
I have struggled to understand about the allocation module, so we continue to handle our investments manually. The provided guide seems more suitable for individuals with a general understanding of how it should work.
