“Mostly Good

Pros

Development staff finds it easy to access the necessary information and become self-sufficient with this software. NXT is highly user-friendly.

Cons

Unfortunately, I don't get to use the software as much as I would like since most of my work is still done in FE7. Additionally, I haven't found the option to use relative dates when creating reports in NXT.

“Terrific Coud-based Financial software for non-profits

Pros

The interface is easy to navigate, intuitive and has a clean design. Although it may appear modern and simple, don't be fooled. The database and tools behind it are robust and very helpful.

Cons

Some modules are still in transition to the new web view. However, I must say, the progress they've made so far is very promising for the future.

“Moving your database to the cloud?

Pros

Transition from our local database to the Blackbaud servers was smooth. All we had to do was have everyone log out, make a backup and upload. It was as easy as that.

Cons

I must admit, the Citrix Receiver proved to be slower and more cumbersome when connecting to the servers. In hindsight, we probably should have stuck with an on-premises scenario and continued accessing our local computer via Remote Desktop Connect, even though it wasn't supported by Blackbaud.

“Accounting made easy!

Pros

The integration with Raiser's Edge is excellent and has significantly streamlined our organization's processes. The general ledge functionality is user-friendly and intuitive.

Cons

They only provide chat support at no additional cost. As the software is quite complex I believe, having phone support would be invaluable and really should be included without any extra charges.

“Easy transition

Pros

It is easy to use and set up, especially for companies with multiple funding streams. I am able to run multiple reports that align well with my financial statement requirements.

Cons

It's disappointing that I can't scan invoices and attach them as backup to bills, as I can easily do in QuickBooks. Instead, I have to maintain my own scan file separately from the software.

Pros

FE is an excellent fund accounting software that covers all the basics. Accounts payable tasks are simple and easy to accomplish. The fixed asset module works flawlessly. Although the ledger structure can be a bit complicated at times, overall, it meets our needs.

Cons

Getting help with FE can be quite challenging. While there is a wealth of information available online, sometimes you simply need someone to guide you through an issue. I once encountered a situation where I had to involve their IT department to fix a software corruption while closing a fiscal year. The maintenance and support costs for this software are simply too high.

Pros

The functionality of this software covers pretty much everything one would expect from an accounting software. It offers a complete set of features.

Cons

Occasionally, it times out on the user. Also in the beginning you might struggle to learn everything about it but once you master it, it works well.

“Great cloud based accounting system for non profits!

Pros

I have been using Blackbaud for almost 10 years, and I love how easy it is to work with the AP side. From viewing a vendor to adding a new invoice and checking for purchase orders, everything can be done within a single window (with tabs).

Cons

The only aspect I dislike is that updates sometimes complicate things. The alignment on my checks often gets quite disrupted, and it doesn't save the alignment for a new run. I'm not sure if it's a glitch. Additionally, the system tends to time out rather quickly if you're not constantly using it.

Pros

When coupled with Raiser's Edge fundraising software, Financial Edge provides seamless financial reporting opportunities for non-profits. I highly recommend partnering RE and FE together to maximize the capabilities of both products.

Cons

Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge have a learning curve, especially for those who haven't used the software before. When transitioning from another software, it's important to work closely with the Blackbaud team to ensure a successful switch.

“Easy to use

Pros

There is a wide range of training available for Financial Edge. It integrates smoothly with Raiser's Edge, making it easy to teach new team members without having to cover all the training material.

Cons

If something isn't set up properly from the start, it becomes a lengthy process to rectify. However, I have found that it is very much possible to correct issues, and Blackbaud is quite helpful in that regard.

“Training is Essential

Pros

I truly love the training programs offered by Blackbaud. I believe that customized training packages tailored to your company's needs are essential for successful implementation. At the end of the day, Blackbaud is committed to your success with their software and provides excellent training opportunities as part of the solution.

Cons

The software has various components, and as the sole employee in the AR/AP department, some processes can be a bit challenging for me to learn. I believe the software is primarily designed for larger non-profit organizations.

“Happy convert from Quickbooks Online

Pros

The main reason we switched from QB Online to Financial Edge was its integration with RE, and it has proven to be a great decision. It has increased efficiency and reduced errors.

Cons

Our accounting staff face issues to understand and use this software in the beginning. Mainly because they weren't accustomed to using RE. Nonetheless, the training package provided is quite detailed and proved to be beneficial.
