We regret our decision to implement this system.
Cons
The mobile experience for checking out and managing subscriptions does not work well. The reports are not dependable and the support team is also very slow to respond with unhelpful answers to our questions. Also it needs to fix pricing tiers for different usage levels and a proper way to handle discount codes.

Pros
Chargebee manages all our subscription billing and payment processing flawlessly. Our customers rarely have trouble completing payments and we like the flexibility it offers to create custom plans, set various prices and apply discounts.
Cons
I think the reporting dashboard has a lot of room for improvement. Plus some of the newer reports are only available if you pay extra. I'd also like more setup options such as the ability to create custom coupon codes and personalized payment links.

Pros
It is a very polished and reliable billing platform. They offer a generous free tier so I have not had to pay for it yet. It also connects well with a wide variety of other apps.
Cons
The platform has great potential but I was disappointed when they stopped supporting their dedicated WordPress plugin and moved to using iframes instead.

“Cancellation process is awful”

Chargebee performs exactly how we expected it to for managing our subscription services.
Cons
My experience with it was never great but trying to cancel was particularly awful. We canceled our plan well before the next billing cycle but they charged us for another month anyway. When we complained, they refused to issue a refund. As a subscription business ourselves we know the legal requirements for cancellations and they are not following them. Plus be warned that setup is also a major hassle as they promise everything will work but many features are locked behind expensive paywalls or require you to use their full, costly platform.

Pros
The platform works well and has a much more modern and visually appealing interface than many of its competitors.
Cons
I find the setup process extremely long and felt unfinished. Also the price is much higher than other services and the financial reporting tools are weak. It is also hard to find key information because you have to click through too many pages. Even the account management does not scale well and the Salesforce integration is poor.

I was impressed with how it organized our revenue reporting, handled deferred revenue accounting and enabled us to forecast future earnings.
Cons
One thing I dislike is that once an accounting period was officially closed, it was very difficult to reopen it for adjustments like those needed during an audit.

It is very easy to set up a new subscription plan. Plus the system includes multiple verification steps so we can confirm everything is accurate before making it active. Reviewing, re-issuing invoices and managing customer credits are all simple tasks which is fantastic.
Cons
Making changes to existing subscriptions is not very easy. So we frequently have to cancel a plan entirely and create a new one instead of just modifying the current terms.

Pros
I like the concept of automated payment reminder emails and follow-up messages for customers. However in my experience, these features have not been functioning properly.
Cons
Modifying a subscription is much more complex here than in other systems. I do not like that there is no simple dashboard to see all paid and outstanding invoices. It is also frustrating that we don't get alerts when invoices are paid and we cannot manually enter a customer's payment details. Also we have had conflicts with customers who were on auto-pay with our old system, trying to get their information into this one. Another issue is that once auto-pay is enabled, it pays every single invoice automatically, even for one-off purchases outside the subscription. The only workaround is to disable auto-pay each time you charge for something separate like a training session.
