MIP is a good nonprofit software that is cost affordable

Pros

Although MIP has all the necessary features, there are additional functionalities like payroll that come with an extra cost.

Cons

The software is not up to date. I like the layout, but I can see room for improvement to make workflow and journal entries easier and faster.

Cloud Conversion/ Client Services

Pros

When we hosted the software on premises, it worked perfectly for us.

Cons

Our organization was forced to migrate to the cloud due to lagging functionality and updates in the on-premises software, which led to more bugs. However, the migration process was quite tedious, and we were unexpectedly charged over $550 for a "modern overview" that I would have waived if the charges were transparent. The client services failed to provide adequate support, and I cannot recommend MIP cloud.

Great Platform!

Pros

MIP is an excellent fund accounting software that has proven highly valuable for our organization. It simplifies the task of keeping everything organized and in order.

Cons

I sometimes experience glitches in the system, and it's challenging to find tutorials for learning new features in the software.

Least favorite accounting option

Pros

The recent release of the online version of the software has greatly improved its appearance.

Cons

MIP Fund software is difficult to use, and the interface lacks intuitiveness. Reporting and queries are not user-friendly. I strongly recommend transitioning to an online platform as soon as possible.

Account Software Crisis

Pros

I must admit that the software lacks user-friendliness, and the training process has been a nightmare. The company keeps changing trainers, leaving clients disconnected and unaware of what's happening. So for now I am not happy with this software and have nothing to mention that I like about it.

Cons

The technology aspect of the software is not easy to understand, and the modular build-up doesn't facilitate report generation.

Ok for the $, but only if you have it on premises, stay away from their cloud one.

Pros

The system is fantastic when it's on premises, but once you transition to the cloud, they start charging for every little change. For instance, after moving to the cloud, adding a new segment and modifying history cost us over $7K, whereas before, a SQL engineer would do it for $1K.

Cons

The customer support costs are high for any changes made.

Abila Fund Accounting

Pros

This software program is solid and offers the option to add modules based on organizational needs. We use it to monitor several departments.

Cons

I think that reporting functionality could be updated to enhance ease of use for new users. It would be beneficial to have future training opportunities in the Pacific Northwest for improved convenience in travel.

Abila software - Meh

Pros

One aspect I like the most is that it's tailored for nonprofit companies which allows us to allocate expenses and revenues to specific grants.

Cons

MIP Fund software is quite "picky" and often proves difficult to use. It takes time to get accustomed to the steps. For new users, changing the bank from which cheques are issued is not easily discoverable.

Easy to use

Pros

About MIP Fund there is one thing I absolutely love about this software is how user-friendly it is. As someone in accounts payable, I can quickly and easily enter data.

Cons

One of the aspects I like the least is that when I make a mistake and attempt to fix it, the correction doesn't always apply properly.

Sturdy and reliable accounting software

Pros

The software is reliable and doesn't crash. It offers a good range of features that meet our essential needs, such as payroll, AP, AR, reports, budgets, and fund management. While there are additional tools available, we currently don't use them and had to contract with third-party vendors to fulfill our requirements.

Cons

The annual fee and the need for annual updates can be somewhat tricky. While they are usually not too challenging to implement for our applications team, there are occasions when they require more effort and take a significant amount of their time.

Ok Accounting Software

Pros

I thoroughly enjoyed using this software system as it never lagged or crashed on me.

Cons

I found it very frustrating that there are limitations on the number of users who can access the software. Sometimes, I couldn't log in because too many of my colleagues were already using it, which hindered my work.

A very valuable asset to our organization

Pros

This software provides local government accounting functions at an ideal level. The best thing about it is that it covers payroll, AP, AR, reports, budgets and fund management. While it offers additional features, they are optional and require separate purchases.

Cons

One downside is the requirement to pay an annual fee and conduct annual updates. Additionally, in Payroll, it's necessary to download all State taxes to run reports.

Very nice!

Pros

We have been using this accounting software for quite some time now, and we haven't encountered any problems. The support it provides is excellent, and it offers various options to cater to the needs of our non-profit organization.

Cons

MIP Fund reporting functionality could use some improvement, and more customization options would be highly appreciated. As a non-profit, we always need detailed reports, but it's challenging to find a perfect solution. However, this seems to be a common issue across many products as well.

Pros

We integrated Citrix and performed both server and client installations.

Cons

At times, the software feels clunky and slow. SQL Maintenance needs to be given high priority and addressed quickly.

Pros

I really like the ability to bring the entire University together and align everyone towards the same goals. Moreover, the feature that allows us to coordinate accounts is very helpful.

Cons

The learning curve for this software is too steep. It's easy to use it incorrectly, but difficult to use it properly. Personally, I became proficient in using it, but I noticed that my colleagues often struggled with basic tasks or avoided using it altogether due to the initial difficulty in getting up to speed.

Workplace utilizes for Electronic Requisition system

Pros

Thanks to MIP, we were able to reduce paper waste by eliminating the need for paper purchase orders. It provided us with a convenient and easily submittable format.

Cons

Navigating the software itself can be cumbersome. I'm not sure if we have an older version, but there are some standard keystrokes that deviate from intuitive expectations. For example, the enter key saves and closes something, while the tab key acts more like a traditional enter key, which confused me for quite some time.

Good product, horrible customer service

Pros

In my opinion, this product is excellent for fulfilling our specific requirements. The best aspect is the reports feature. Once you become familiar with building reports, it becomes an even more powerful tool.

Cons

Whenever I had to call customer support, I had to be prepared to endure at least 45 minutes of hold time accompanied by that repetitive music. It didn't matter what day or time I called; they always seemed to be busy. Our implementation specialist was supposed to provide a week of training, but I had to request her to complete it because she rushed through it and even skipped demonstrating one of the modules we had paid for.

Highly functional product for a small, medium, or large non profit organization

Pros

The configuration of the chart of accounts, the ability to control account code usage through combinations and the import/export functions for data have been incredibly valuable. We can easily import over 30,000 lines of data for payroll entry every two weeks. The accounts payable EFT notifications are also great, as we can send remittance details to vendors when making ACH payments. The administrative access controls allow admins to manage what users can see, and the customer support is always helpful.

Cons

The import function is quite advantageous, however, there are times when I wish the process could be faster, especially for larger entries.

Great solution from anywhere!

Pros

MIP Fund's cloud-based feature was awesome, and the level of security provided made us feel confident in the safety of our information. Having all the modules in one user friendly place is very suitable too.

Cons

The software was a bit expensive for our small company, and we didn't require the cloud feature. It would have been beneficial if it included inventory and shipping features as it will save us from the need to purchase and reconcile two separate software packages.

Pros

The setup of the general ledger chart of accounts is unparalleled. The segment-driven chart, as opposed to the linear style found in competitor products, results in the best reporting I've ever seen in the industry. Additionally, the software maintains strong audit controls to ensure data integrity.

Cons

I find it hard to pinpoint any major cons with this product. However I am eagerly looking forward to the addition of more features to their cloud offering.

Pros

I like the fact that once you post items, you can't make changes to them. In terms of stability, it surpasses QuickBooks in this aspect.

Cons

Once you make a typo, it becomes permanent since there's no option to make changes. It would be great if there was an edit feature specifically for descriptions.

I use Abila daily for invoice processing and reporting.

Pros

The reporting feature on Abila is fantastic, and I find it very easy to save reports for future use, allowing me to run them on a monthly basis.

Cons

It's amazing! I didn't even need to read the instructions to get started. The setup is just my style. Now, I can't say this applies to everyone, but if you have some experience, you'll be perfectly fine.

Overall this is a good product for our not for profit.

Pros

The bolt-on modules are exceptionally robust and have exceeded our expectations. The integration from FR50 to MIP is seamless, and the option to install modules separately helps distribute the learning curve over time.

Cons

The software doesn't offer a switch to Cash Accounting Basis as it is exclusively designed for Accrual Basis. Additionally, there isn't a built-in cash forecast model.

Cons

Pros

With so many features, it's common to feel speechless, especially for those new to accounting. However, if you're a quick learner and take the time to explore the features thoroughly, you'll quickly figure things out until your transactions become second nature.

Cons

The software accepts a certain level of accounting proficiency from the user. Beginners will likely require support in navigating the system. Also the "Help" search feature is highly technical in nature.
