“Patriot Accounting is simple

Pros

I like the simplicity of this product and I also like how departments are used within the system.

Cons

The reporting is missing a cash flow statement and the software does not support billing expenses.

Well sadly it does not seem to work for me mainly when it comes to taxes.

It is not the best and have many issues. Not very happy with the choice I made and I am planning to switch.

“Exactly what I needed

Pros

Patriot Accounting pricing really stood out to me. As a small business, I did not want to spend a lot on something I did been managing on an Excel spreadsheet for free. But as we expanded, I realized we needed a more efficient solution and Patriot was exactly that. I love how I can send invoices and have customers pay online and with ACH payments, my transaction fees have dropped.

Cons

The accounting setup is a bit unusual so I needed some time to figure out how to enter journal entries but customer service was really helpful with that. Its more of a personal adjustment for me and a nod to their support.

Pros

I like that its a private, U.S.-based company with support from people who speak clear English. The live support is fantastic and I am able to learn a lot that way. Also it is affordable and I feel like I am getting high quality service.

Cons

Some items from my American Express statement wont transfer and adding or removing items is a bit confusing. The journal is also a bit tricky but the live help is excellent and I learn more each time I reach out.

“Gets It Done With No Fuss Accounting Tool

Pros

Patriot Accounting was a simple, easy to use tool for managing payroll. We did not need anything too fancy but just something that would allow our teachers to access their bi-weekly pay stubs and handle tax reports at the end of the year.

Cons

There is nothing to complain about as the tool provided the accounting options or features that a small business like ours needed.

I found Patriot Accounting quite user friendly.

It did not work with some newer accounts payable applications.

“Amazing Customer Service

Pros

Patriot Accounting customer service is outstanding. I am definitely not a numbers person so I was hesitant about using accounting software. But even in areas where things were a bit of a mess, they worked with me to not only fix it but help me understand the situation. I am really pleased with their support.

Cons

I did prefer having payment options like credit card or checking account.

Pros

It was easy to set up. When I had questions about accounting, customer support was friendly and provided clear answers.

Cons

There is a delay with credit card payments being marked as paid in Patriot while funds from Stripe take several days to arrive. Its not a big issue once you understand the process and how to reconcile bank statements.

It is simple yet powerful, provides support for cash-basis, modified cash-basis or accrual accounting.

Cons

The premium version offers additional features such as subaccount capability. I just wish the cost were reduced to make it more budget friendly.

I like that it integrates with payroll and that it is fairly easy to use.

The idle time before logging out is an issue for me. I use the software several times a day and often need to log back in but my computer does not seem to save the login information so I have to re-enter it each time. I am also frustrated that payroll checks are not listed separately in the check register, which makes reconciling with the bank statement a hassle. I wish it would print the invoice numbers on vendor checks. Additionally, I did prefer if the 'check all' option were removed as I did rather select the items I need without having to uncheck everything first. I also need the ability to enter vendor credits.

Patriot Accounting tool makes managing accounting and financial reporting a simple task. Also it is well equipped for the job.

Cons

I have never had any issues with Patriot Accounting.

My favorite feature is the bank syncing as it is managed closely by the U.S.-based customer support and the affordable pricing.

Setting it up did take some forms and time but once I got through the regulatory requirements it was quite easy.

To be honest I am not really impressed with anything about the program.

I do not like how the payroll software interacts with banking reconciliation. It took me a long time to get the checks aligned for printing and eventually discovered that payroll checks align differently than accounting checks.

Customer support is quick and responsive as they are always ready to assist. Also the software is simple to use and the interface is very user friendly. Everything runs smoothly and if there is ever a problem support takes care of it.

Patriot Accounting features I needed most were only available in the Premium plan that is expensive but its worth it.

Patriot Accounting customer service is solid and the software is fairly easy to navigate. Plus their pricing is reasonable.

Transitioning from a different accounting program to this one can be difficult. Some accounts payable entries take a lot of time and it sometimes feels like there are unnecessary extra steps involved.

Pros

As someone who likes to have control over my accounting, I like being able to do simple debit and credit entries. Patriot is easy to use and does not have all the "noise" that other accounting software does. Some programs come with too much extra but Patriot keeps it simple which I really like.

Cons

There are a few minor things I might adjust in invoicing and bill pay, but overall I do not have any issues with the software.

Their customer support team answer quickly when I call and their staff is knowledgeable too.

Accessing the training videos is quite a hassle. I mean it is not a simple process. I was advised to select "Help Info" at the top of the screen and then type in my query. However searching under "Help Info" mostly brought up articles rather than training videos which makes the site less user-friendly. Additionally, Customer Support has been lacking in clarity and personalized assistance. Many of my specific support requests were met with a default response to search the website or figure it out myself which is not helpful. It seems like Patriot Software staff need more targeted training to address these issues.

Patriot does not have a geolocation service integrated with employee payroll.
