When working with multiple divisions or consolidated corporations, the software can be a bit slow. I would prefer to plan on a monthly basis and report on a quarterly basis. While it is possible, it requires using the Advanced Reporting Package, which adds complexity and time to the process.

Every interaction with PlanGuru's support team has been prompt and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure my questions or issues were fully resolved. Their service has always been accompanied by a friendly and supportive attitude, whether through email or one-on-one phone calls.

Cons

Initially, I was annoyed when I learned that my software was shut down remotely after several years of no fees, unless I opted in for an upgrade to a new version. However, I have come to appreciate the superb customer service and support provided by PlanGuru.

I come to know that it has the capability to import actuals from QuickBooks Online, although there are some workarounds needed for managing revenue recognition.

Cons

It can be cumbersome to set up access with different classes from QuickBooks since the software is not cloud-based and requires an internet connection. Additionally, the QuickBooks budgeting tool is easier to use for scenario analysis, and creating an Excel workbook is more convenient. PlanGuru lacks flexibility for FX management, and I cannot work with multiple currencies. The support provided to set up the software is limited unless one pays for their consulting service, which was somewhat helpful. The videos on the website only cover the basics.

The application's flexibility allows me to create multiple forecasts and budgets using various assumptions and KPIs. Integrating Excel adds even more flexibility to the program. The subschedules provide different ways to forecast revenue and track expenses, while the integration of the balance sheet allows me to see the impact of the forecast on balance sheet items.

I have found some restrictions in reporting flexibility, and I cannot print reports directly from analytics.

The design of the software is very intuitive, with most features and functions just a right-click away. If I ever need clarification, the tutorial videos within the program are incredibly helpful, conveniently linking you to relevant videos. The Excel Add-in is a powerful tool and a major selling point for PlanGuru. If you're familiar with pivot tables, you'll love this tool. Consolidations are essential if you have multiple departments or groups, while the Excel Links feature allows me to pull in data from Excel to enhance the budgeting capabilities beyond PlanGuru's projection methods.

Cons

What i think would improve the product if it were developed as a web/browser-based solution instead of a local client install. This would save users the cost of a remote cloud desktop and make installation and connectivity easier. Having a "mass-refresh" button or method in the Excel add-in to refresh all tabs at once would be highly beneficial. It would also be great to have a "mass-consolidation" button within the PlanGuru application. I wish there was a "help forum" where users could support each other and troubleshoot issues. While support is responsive and the videos are helpful, a forum search would provide faster answers, and the videos do not cover everything. Usually, someone else has likely encountered the same question in the past.

This is a great program for budgeting and setting up a budget.

The integration with QBs desktop is awkward and slow. Running a budget to actual comparison with PlanGuru takes longer compared to running a similar comparison outside of PlanGuru. Customer support is lacking, as only basic-level help is available without additional costs. This seems unreasonable considering the price of the software. The training provided was a waste of time as it lacks structure and consisting of someone simply droning on about the features. The online videos are outdated and do not match the new updates.

Copying negative values sometimes results in them appearing as positive values. Additionally, changing a value to zero does not override when copied into the template.
