timely payments and clear reports

Pros

Reviewing the reports for accuracy was simple and payments were processed on time.

Cons

Trying to recall a payment was complicated and took quite a while to resolve.

Vendor payments save time

Pros

Being able to send payments straight to vendors without having to issue a cheque is a big plus. It cuts down the time usually spent writing cheques and mailing them out which makes the whole payment process much more efficient.

Cons

The interface feels very outdated. There's no option to upload invoice documents so the date, invoice details and payment amount all have to be entered manually. It would also be much better if it connected with accounting software like QuickBooks Online since more automation is really needed.

fast processing and amazing support

Pros

Processing is very quick, the software is simple to navigate and the customer service has been amazing.

Cons

I'd love to see an online version with mobile capabilities so it works better for businesses that need to manage things while on the go.

Competitive USD pricing

Pros

Using this software has been pretty simple and the cost is very low. Once the payment information is entered and the release deadlines are met, it takes care of the rest. We used it for both CAD and USD payments for many years and after moving to a cloud-based accounting system, we still kept it for USD payments only. The pricing for USD transactions is extremely competitive and I still have not come across a better pricing structure.

Cons

One area that really needs improvement is moving from desktop software to a cloud-based platform. It would also help a lot if the coding were updated to make syncing with newer cloud-based accounting systems much easier. Releasing payments is still a fairly manual process but because the pricing is so strong, that tradeoff is still worth it for the small number of USD payments we process.

banking integration cuts late payments

Pros

It fits in really well with online banking and lets us, along with many clients we've referred, handle tax payments much more efficiently. It has made a noticeable difference in reducing late payments.

Cons

toughest part is getting clients to buy in when fees are involved so the lower those fees can be the better.

Remote approvals that deliver

Pros

Right from the start, Telpay felt very user-friendly. We specifically needed remote approval for authorized signing officers and they already had that feature available. It fit our needs really well and worked perfectly with the Credit Union we use.

Cons

The payroll module does take a bit of planning ahead especially since transmission times can be affected by paid holidays.

reliable support and fair pricing

Pros

Any time we've needed help, the customer support team has been outstanding. They're consistently available, respond quickly and have been hard to beat when it comes to service. Telpay for Business also gives small businesses access to electronic payment services at a reasonable cost.

Cons

Set up takes more effort than it should. We also ran into a few problems trying to use the Telpay software in a server environment. In the end we stopped trying to make the server setup work and went back to running it on just one PC.

Simple uploads and helpful validation

Pros

Uploading a file in Telpay is very simple. The process is basic in a good way: you upload the file, check a few details and submit it. If you catch an error before it goes through, you can delete it which is really helpful. I also appreciate that when there's a small difference between the submitted amount and the account balance, the system sends validation showing the extra as a credit for later use.

Cons

After a file has been submitted there's no way to edit it. I understand why that restriction exists but it would still be helpful if minor changes, like correcting an account number, were allowed.

works well for canadian payments

Pros

A few of our customers in the Canadian market have requested Telpay for sending payments and it has performed well for that purpose.

Cons

Since we only use it with a small portion of our customers, any payment that comes through Telpay has to be handled manually instead of being posted automatically like it is for most of our other clients.

trusted and secure payments

Pros

Telpay has been in this space for a long time and it really shows. With any electronic payment service, security is the biggest concern and Telpay has proven to be the most organized and secure option we've come across in Canada. On top of that, their tech support and customer service team respond quickly and are always willing to help when needed.

Cons

Compared to some competitors Telpay's interface feels a bit dated and could definitely use a refresh. Still, it functions perfectly well and sometimes reliability matters more than appearance.
