“Super easy and budget-friendly”
Pros
For my small, simple business it's either free or very low cost and I find it extremely easy to use.
Cons
I didn't run into any issues myself though I used it at a pretty basic level so I cannot really speak to how well the advanced features work.

“Makes invoicing super simple”
Pros
I am a big fan of Wave because crafting custom invoices is a breeze. Sending them, putting them together and accepting payments online are all easy. I also find that generating accounting reports is simple and the output is clear and easy to interpret.
Cons
My bank and credit card accounts were linked so they synced automatically without fuss. Because security settings keep changing, I now have to manually export and then import the data every time. Everything does still work but it's not nearly as seamless as it was before.

“Deceptive pricing and terrible support”
Pros
I found nothing redeeming, the service felt lackluster and provided almost no positives.
Cons
My experience was plagued by terrible customer support and poor functionality, the features my team and I paid for were never delivered, the pricing felt misleading and was raised with almost no warning. They even tried to strong-arm us into staying by refusing to provide our T4s when we attempted to cancel the subscription.

“Easy to use but limited”
Pros
What I like best about this software is how simple and easy it is to use.
Cons
For my purposes, I find it functions more as an expense-and-revenue tracker than full-fledged accounting software and I feel it's limited versus others when it comes to journal entries and closing accounting periods.

“Super easy for invoicing”
Pros
Setting it up and getting started is incredibly easy and I rely on it to handle my invoices. I can link a credit card or bank account to accept online payments they charge a fee or I can simply email invoices at no cost.
Cons
I cannot think of any particular experience with this software that ever disappointed me.

“Super easy for small business”
Pros
Using Wave Accounting was a joy, as someone who had never handled accounting before, I found the whole system really easy to pick up. I frequently used it to generate invoices, keep track of expenses and manage simple tax-related records. I also appreciated being able to link my business bank account since that connection made sorting and categorising income and costs much simpler at tax time.
Cons
Because I am based in South Africa, I eventually had to stop using Wave after they removed the bank-connection feature. That change meant I couldn't link my accounts anymore so I was forced to search for alternative accounting software that supported bank feeds, otherwise I genuinely would have kept using Wave.

One thing I absolutely appreciate is being able to invite my accountant and since it's free, I can handle reporting, billing and invoicing together in one place without hassle.
Cons
Honestly I don't have any complaints about this software, it performed flawlessly for our needs and suited us perfectly.

“Great for everyday accounting”
Pros
It is really easy to use. Since it's entirely cloud-based, I could even create an account using my Gmail. It's ideal for daily tracking of money, both expenses and income and I also use it for billing and invoicing my customers. Overall it's a very good accounting tool for startups and small businesses.
Cons
I am not able to upload my stamp or seal onto invoices or bills and that limitation frustrates me.

“Really impressed with wave”
Pros
Having used Wave Accounting, I have noticed a lot of strengths when it comes to the accounting processes. general journal and general ledger management, trial balance, posting to the balance sheet and income statement, plus adjusting entries and closing entries all work well.
Cons
I haven't come across any significant issues with this accounting software so far, that said, I recognize there could be potential problems or glitches that might appear down the road.

“Great for simple bookkeeping”
Pros
I really rely on this for creating invoices and keeping track of my income and expenses. Its reports simplify tax season and I appreciate that new capabilities are added on a regular basis.
Cons
nothing about it has been hard to use. While it doesn't include every advanced feature a bigger company might need, I find it perfect for handling roughly 20-50 transactions each month.

“Broken categorization and account mix-ups”
Pros
I used to have it automatically detect and categorize recurring payments, reliably assigning them to the right category. That's no longer happening, even though the charges came from the same payee with the same amount month after month!
Cons
This year it began lumping my personal and business accounts together for no reason and I am left having to untangle transactions that were previously separate.

“Complete waste of time”
Pros
I have nothing good to say, I avoid Wave especially if you live in a state they don't fully support. I found they only back a small set of states.
Cons
Customer service was awful and the product features weren't clearly explained before we bought. We had to learn the hard way that our state wasn't supported after we'd already paid and completed setup. When we called for help the support team was totally unhelpful, none of our problems got fixed so we had to abandon everything and start fresh with a completely different company.

“Great free tool for startups”
Pros
Honestly what I love most about Wave is that it's free! Someone recommended it to me during a small business training session I attended. If I am launching a business on a tight budget, the free tier covers pretty much all the bookkeeping basics I need. I also appreciate that the app gives me the option to bring in a tax professional directly through the platform, it's a handy extra.
Cons
Unfortunately, Wave isn't available to customers in the UK anymore although I'd still recommend it to friends in the USA without hesitation. In the UK we have so much support for new businesses, from excellent business banking apps to integrated invoicing and bookkeeping tools which probably made it hard for Wave to stay. I figure it left the UK market because it couldn't keep up with those evolving banking services.

“Easy and reliable for basics”
Pros
I found Wave pretty easy to use and it handles the essentials of basic accounting. I ran Wave for several years before moving over to QuickBooks, the switch was driven solely by the need to share my financial records with my accountant and simplify tax season. If you plan to hand off books to an accountant who uses QuickBooks, Wave may not be the ideal fit. Still for tracking expenses, reconciling accounts and performing standard bookkeeping tasks, Wave is an excellent free option that covers what most small users need.
Cons
We struggled to get the exact information our accountant needed from Wave which made the whole process more complicated than expected. In the end we switched systems because it was far simpler to use the same accounting software as our accountant so data could be shared and reviewed without extra effort.
