Was a nightmare for our organization.

Pros

There aren't many options out there and even Zuora barely met our requirements.

Cons

It did not scale well with our tech stack, and there were many outdated features. The implementation itself was extremely costly.

Edge-to-edge platform for subscription business

Pros

This platform combines an integrated billing engine, analytics and insights, marketing automation and a pricing tool specifically designed for SaaS businesses.

Cons

The free trial period is not enough to fully understand the tool's features as it requires more time for integration.

Robust functionality for subscription-based companies of all sizes

Pros

I was truly impressed by how Zuora allowed me and my company to monitor almost everything we needed, such as incoming revenue and the performance of specific products in our catalog. For businesses aiming to scale up or seeking a more efficient way of managing their finances, Zuora is undoubtedly the best tool available.

Cons

I am dissatisfied with the complexity of Zuora. Many of the features seem to be designed for a large companies as a result you have to spend a lot of time learning this software. Additionally, it often requires numerous clicks to complete an action due to the multiple layers of complexity.

big upgrade from previous billing system

Pros

As a growing startup with recurring monthly payments, it became evident that our previous provider couldn't handle the volume and frequency of payments we dealt with. That's when we were referred to Zuora. The transition has been fantastic. Not only does Zuora handle our payment load well, but it also brings additional features and functionalities that we hadn't even considered. From my experience, Zuora is like the Salesforce of payment systems.

Cons

It is a bit complex. We had to assign someone as an admin for our Zuora account to ensure proper integration with our other systems. If the setup and maintenance processes were a bit easier, it would receive a 5-star rating.

I was a developer/maintainer/admin on this for a number of years at my last company

Pros

When sticking to its out of the box functionality, Zuora serves as a highly effective billing platform. It excels in transactional environments and has been improving for service-oriented billing. The availability of historical data and audit trails is commendable. Handling usage data and issuing refunds and credits is surprisingly smooth. Furthermore, they take care of all credit card handling, eliminating an additional hurdle for companies to overcome.

Cons

Customizing this software is a challenging task. Dealing with the APIs and object model behind the scenes is not easy, and there are still some bugs present. Depending on the charge model, implementing it within the system can be a real pain. While they give you options when it comes to pricing, setting up conditioned prices and similar configurations requires a significant amount of time for initial setup. Handling split revenue when exporting to finance software is also a hassle, especially for scenarios like a support charge attached to a licensed monthly cloud service. To their credit, when I left my previous position working with them, they were making improvements, so it's possible they are addressing some of these issues. One important drawback is the absence of a production matching sandbox. While they can refresh a sandbox to a specific snapshot in time for a fee, in an enterprise environment, it quickly becomes outdated. Furthermore, their sandboxes have slight implementation differences that become apparent when heavily utilizing the API.

Customer Service needs improvement

Pros

I can't really find any positives about this software. Our implementation was quite terrible, and unfortunately, there hasn't been any noticeable improvement since then.

Cons

The customer service is not good, and the professional services hours come at a very high cost. There are no SLAs in place for the support team to respond promptly. The integration between Zuora and SF is terrible, and half the time, the data doesn't appear as expected.

A previous Billing manager - Used Zuora

Pros

When it comes to billing software, the most important aspect is reliability, especially when handling customers money. In that regard, Zuora has proven to be highly reliable with very few issues.

Cons

When I started using Zuora, I encountered several issues and have to spend a lot of time learning it. Well it is common with any new software or system. Furthermore making updates to subscriptions can be somewhat cumbersome, particularly when dealing with larger updates.

Zuora is clean and simple to use.

Pros

I really like that I know I have the option to generate customer and data reports. It's fantastic that the tool can be used in conjunction with other software as well.

Cons

Zuora lacks customization options for individual accounts, and it's not entirely foolproof, which means agents can easily make mistakes.

Best Billing Platform For Subscription Business

Pros

I really enjoy how seamlessly I can update billing plans whenever I need to make changes to prices or add/remove features from my subscription.

Cons

One aspect I dislike about the software is the limited data verification. For instance, there is no email address validation in the API when creating contacts.

Our company loves Zuora!

Pros

The integration with Salesforce is seamless which makes it an incredible tool to work within a single application instead of juggling multiple ones.

Cons

Sometimes, I find it confusing how it sends to Z billing, but overall, I don't have many complaints.

Solid billing software

Pros

The interface is quite simple and it covers the majority of our use cases. The reporting capabilities are quite powerful.

Cons

Building reports can be a bit complex, and pulling certain reports can be quite slow. Also it's frustrating that I can't link between multiple data sources in reporting.

It's good in an overall point of view

Pros

Creating reports is not a problem anymore. The Data Source includes most of the objects needed to generate complex reports. The support team is quick to respond to requests, and there is an abundance of information available on the community website.

Cons

I find myself making numerous alterations for each product I need to add or remove. Waiting for a bill run to generate an invoice takes around 1 minute. The UI could be more modern, and the search engine requires improvement. It takes at least 2 minutes to locate a payment using the payment number.

Finally

Pros

Zuora is the first billing system that has truly met our needs and gotten the job done for us. It comprehensively fulfills our requirements.

Cons

While Zuora does fulfill our needs, it comes at a high price. Despite the cost, the benefits of having a reliable billing system are worth it.
