I can customize the software according to my organization's needs, and it is easy to use. It is also extremely helpful when it comes to viewing data logs.

Pros

I love how the cluster is always connected, and the fast code execution in HEX is a huge advantage. Unlike Databricks, where I have to manually connect the notebooks to the cluster to run any code, HEX handles this seamlessly. I've had the chance to interact with customer support once, and they were very helpful and always available via Slack. Coding and implementing solutions in both SQL and Python on HEX is easy for me without any hassles. As a data scientist at Upwork, I use HEX almost daily to solve data science problems using both Python and SQL. The integration of HEX notebooks with other storage platforms, like S3 buckets, is simple for me.

Cons

I miss the ease with which I could deploy any notebook as a pipeline and schedule it as a workflow in HEX.

I appreciate the interoperability between languages and the ability to perform cell-based querying, which makes building much easier.

I would love to see better visualizations out of the box, though I can still create good results using Python.

I like how easy it is to work with our Snowflake data in HEX. We can take the data from Snowflake, create a worksheet in HEX, and then export the results into a user-friendly PowerPoint format. The integrations are fantastic.

Cons

Many times, the error reference points to a line in the code that isn't actually where the issue lies. If this could be fixed, it would be incredible.

Pros

Setting up and exploring data is very simple, and I use it almost weekly. When I first started using HEX, the visualization features were lacking, but it has made significant improvements in the last 1-2 years.

Cons

Occasionally, I experience bugs with the SQL editor, where my queries run perfectly fine in the data warehouse but give me strange errors in HEX that are unrelated to the SQL dialect.

Pros

It has made my life so much easier compared to jumping between Looker, Snowflake, and Google Sheets to analyze and visualize data. The ability to combine Python and SQL so seamlessly is a huge plus for me. It has become my go-to data analysis tool.

Cons

Magic is still a work in progress, and I tend to avoid it at times. Also, the visualizations lack the ability to be customized and perform certain calculations, which limits the tool as a full replacement for platforms like Tableau or Looker.

Pros

The user experience is simple and the engineers at HEX have gone out of their way to ensure that processes are as smooth as possible. It's also very easy to integrate with data sources.

Cons

The lack of specific control over the UI is an issue for me. The boxes are fixed and there is no way to modify them to make the interface look better or more customized.
