“Fun drag-and-drop dashboard building”
Pros
Working with data analysis and dashboards feels much more enjoyable with this tool and modern features such as drag-and-drop make everything simpler to use.
Cons
I really haven't run into any major downsides. The only thing I have noticed is that sometimes the data doesn't refresh automatically so it needs a manual update.

This software really shines when working with external data. Its analysis is very smart and building dashboards is easy and takes little effort.
Cons
It's not really suited for beginners and there are times when updates made in an Excel sheet don't sync properly with the software.

“Clear insights through elegant visualizations”
Pros
Tableau creates professional, high‑quality charts and tables with very little effort. The visuals are always clear which makes the data easy to understand.
Cons
If anything it can feel almost too feature-rich. That said it doesn't really impact my work since my team uses it in a fairly focused way, mostly to interpret quantitative data through a more qualitative lens. I don't handle data imports or exports and I am not using it for final presentation-ready visuals so I really haven't run into any major downsides.

“Best-in-class data visualization tools”
Pros
One of the strongest parts of Tableau is its data visualization capability. It can handle just about any analysis you need and pull the right insights from the database without much limitation.
Cons
That said it does require a good technical background to use effectively. Without fairly extensive training, it's hard to have multiple people across the organization working with it confidently. The cost is also in line with other data visualization platforms so depending on how heavily the company plans to use it and how many users need access, it can turn into a significant investment.

“Beginner-friendly visuals that clarify”
Pros
Getting started with this software feels very approachable especially if you're new to data analysis. It's simple to use, helps keep data organized and presents information in a way that's clear and easy to understand.
Cons
There are times when chart outputs don't display properly. On a few occasions some data titles were also missing from the presentation.

“User-facing visuals with genuine insights”
Pros
The interface is very user friendly. The large icons make it clear what you're doing which helps a lot when getting started. It's also an excellent tool for exploratory data analysis and it lets you build really impressive visuals. Once you get familiar with the software, exploring data and pulling out insights becomes much more easy. Compared with Power BI, the learning curve felt smaller to me as well.
Cons
One area that still feels challenging is dashboard manipulation. It takes quite a bit of time and effort to create polished, high-quality dashboards like the ones you often see online. I also think the software would benefit from offering more fully developed templates.

“Not the best fit for research plots”
Pros
I have used Tableau for creating visualizations but I haven't been able to make it work as a replacement for the figures I usually produce in MATLAB.
Cons
It doesn't really fit the needs of researchers who need to generate plots from offline simulation work in tools like R, MATLAB and similar software.

Pros
I find the tool and its interface user friendly. The learning curve is short so it doesn't take long to become comfortable using it.
Cons

“Insights flow from every dashboard”
Pros
Throughout our time using it at the company for data analysis, Tableau has helped us uncover really useful insights through its charts and data sheets. One of the biggest advantages is the availability of built-in templates, along with third-party options, for putting together dashboards for different projects. Since our e-commerce business is always searching for marketing insights that can help increase sales, this has been especially valuable. It also integrates with almost every other application we use across the company. On top of that the interface and dashboards look good which makes the platform more enjoyable to work with.
Cons
There wasn't much to dislike but one gap I noticed was the lack of direct integration with Google Analytics or Google Ads. There are a few third-party plugins available for that although they didn't feel very reliable or trustworthy.
