“Get your data ready for analysis”
Pros
One feature I really value in Tableau is Prep. It's very useful for bringing in data from different sources, whether that's Excel files, relational databases or plain text. It also lets you clean up and shape the data properly before using it for analysis which makes the whole analytics process much more effective.
Cons
Putting together visual analytics can feel pretty complex when it comes to selecting the right features. On top of that choosing the appropriate charts and making them fit the data well takes a lot of training and practice.

“Clear dashboards but hard to access”
Pros
The data I need to check regularly in Tableau is presented in a way that's simple to understand and review. Sharing data, reports or other information when needed is also a very stress free process.
Cons
This isn't really an issue with the software itself but people at my company have to be connected to the VPN to get into it which is a little inconvenient.

“Helpful support but poor training”
Pros
Whenever I use the help feature, it gives clear step-by-step explanations for working through the application.
Cons
At the same time, there's no real tutorial for learning how to navigate the software so getting started feels very much like sink or swim without much guidance.

“Easy dashboards with live updates”
Pros
Tableau is professional and easy to use. It comes with the tools needed to build dashboards that look attractive and are simple to understand. Its integration with different data sources is excellent as well. On top of that it helps present data in a way that fits the company's specific needs which supports better decision-making in real time.
Cons
One thing I'd still like to see is some simplification in certain areas especially for the more complex functions.

“I like the visuals and support team”
Pros
After more than 12 years using Tableau, I still absolutely love it. The software is visually compelling, very easy to work with and the online support is excellent both from Tableau itself and from the wider user community.
Cons
My only real complaint is that it doesn't offer pixel-perfect PDF printing. I personally don't print anything but plenty of people still do and that missing functionality means we cannot fully serve as a one-stop shop.

“Good visuals with wide support”
Pros
Because Tableau is used so widely for data visualization, there's a strong general understanding of what the platform is meant to do and it's usually easier to get help when integrating it with other business systems.
Cons
It comes with a fairly high price tag which can be tough for smaller organizations to justify. Even though it's a leading product in the industry, the interface still feels behind some competing tools.

“Nice visuals with flexible connections”
Pros
It delivers really impressive data visualizations and the interface feels user friendly without taking much time to learn. Being able to connect to many different kinds of data sources is a big advantage. It also helps that Tableau offers free versions for learning and students can even get a free one-year subscription to Tableau Desktop which is a nice bonus.
Cons
Pricing can feel a bit high at times especially for enterprise use. It can also slow down a little when working with very large datasets.

“Good visuals with flexible export options”
Pros
Tableau has been the best tool I have used for map visualizations. The other chart types are really good as well and creating them doesn't take much effort. It's also very useful that dashboards can be exported in different formats.
Cons
The software can feel a little heavy on a PC but the results make it worth dealing with.

“Dashboards you can count on”
Pros
Honestly I didn't expect to say this but I really love how good Tableau has become. We used to run into a few issues at our firm but that phase seems behind us. Now it feels like a reliable platform I can trust. Another big plus is that it doesn't feel as complex as some other dashboard tools.
Cons

“Powerful dashboards with simple workflows”
Pros
Tableau really feels like the definition of simplicity in a system. It's very user friendly and pulling different sets of data only takes a few clicks. The dashboards are especially useful during team meetings and when presenting to groups.
Cons
There are still a few bugs that can lead to slowdowns and occasional connection drops especially when the platform is under heavy use.

“Clean dashboards with bright visuals”
Pros
Putting dashboards together is easy and the professional look really draws you into a deeper analysis of the data behind them. Team meetings and review sessions also benefit a lot from the simple database integration and the visually engaging charts and dashboards.
Cons

“Quick start for analytics work”
Pros
Getting started with our analytics work has been the biggest advantage for me. Most of my users picked up dashboard creation without much trouble and the trial version along with the online training resources really helped support their learning process.

“Helpful guides and a free trial”
Pros
It is pretty easy to use thanks to its user friendly design and the tutorials and documentation included with it do a good job of helping you understand how everything works. The free trial is also a nice touch since it gives you enough time to explore Tableau's features and see whether it actually fits your needs before committing.
Cons
One downside is that data often needs to be prepared in other software beforehand which adds extra steps to the process. The limited column scaling can also hold back the overall power and flexibility of the visualizations.

“good dashboards with core analytics”
Pros
Tableau used to feel more exciting when we first tried it but it still performs well where it matters most and continues to handle its core functionality reliably, even though there are free alternatives available now.
Cons

“See your data clearly”
Pros
Tableau has been a good choice for us and our clients when it comes to data visualization. It helps us build dashboards that organize and make sense of all the data we collect and work with. Because of that, we're able to make better decisions moving forward. It also gives us a good way to create reports for our users.
Cons
Getting everything set up is not very simple although that's somewhat expected when dealing with such a large volume of data. It really helps to have someone specifically dedicated to managing it.
