“Helpful tutorials”
Pros
Tableau's interface is fantastic as it is very fluid, fast to work in and it lets you connect to what feels like an endless number of data endpoints. The self-paced tutorials are also really helpful for learning on your own.
Cons
Bringing data into it can be a bit challenging sometimes. You do need some knowledge of basic SQL-style queries or a similar language to get things set up properly.

“Build dashboards from any source”
Pros
It can pull in data from practically anywhere. We use it with Salesforce, LogMeIn Rescue and several other CRM and financial systems to build clear, practical dashboards that make key metrics visible at a glance.
Cons
This is definitely a platform that needs someone knowledgeable behind it to make sure the metrics are set up with the right filters and visualizations. In the hands of a capable team member, it's extremely useful but it's not really suited for beginners.

“Useful exports with interactive reports”
Pros
The reports look good and are simple to read, with plenty of useful information included. I also appreciate being able to export them to PDF and Crosstab and the interactive reporting features are a nice bonus.
Cons
Using it hasn't felt very user friendly and there are times when it won't load at all. I have picked up a few helpful workarounds over time but mostly through trial and error. Finicky is probably the best way to describe it.

“helpful learning resources”
Pros
Using Tableau has become part of my daily routine. The learning curve is very manageable especially with the excellent tutorials and all the online resources available. It's also a very capable tool that can be expanded with plenty of plugins and the charts it creates for clients look outstanding.
Cons
It works really well on desktop but the online integration hasn't been my favorite part of it. For quick, no-fuss online collaboration, I have still been turning to Google Data Studio instead.

“Connect to any data source”
Pros
One of the best parts of using this tool is being able to connect to hundreds of data sources without needing any programming at all. It's also really convenient that switching between extracted data and live connections can be done without much hassle.
Cons
At times, the software does fall short. When customers run into performance issues, the support team doesn't always resolve them by identifying and addressing the actual root cause.

“Flexible analytics with strong insights”
Pros
Compared with other tools we've used before, Tableau has been a much more powerful platform for deep analytics. It's proven to be more stable than most alternatives and the level of flexibility it offers is a big reason we continue using it.
Cons
Getting the most out of it really takes a team of data scientists. I am fairly technical and can manage simpler BI tools on my own but here I had to bring in other analysts to build the reports I needed. I'd also like the platform to feel more real-time since the current maximum is 15 minutes.

“Clean charts...”
Pros
Working with large datasets became much faster once I started using Tableau for chart creation and analysis, compared with how difficult and time-consuming the same work would be in other tools. The interface is simple to understand and the documentation is really helpful. It also comes packed with features and a wide range of analytics tools so there's no need to rely on multiple pieces of software for the same work. The charts it produces, whether bar graphs, histograms or pie charts, are clear, professional and accurately represent the data.
Cons
The trial version could definitely be longer. Another limitation is that it doesn't offer many options for data cleaning which is a very important part of the data analytics process.

“Quick to learn with great visuals”
Pros
Two things really make Tableau stand out for me, one how quickly I can build visualizations from my data and how easy it is to learn. And it doesn't take long to get comfortable with the basics, yet it still offers a lot of power once you start using it more deeply.
Cons
Even with how capable it is there have been a few occasions where it seemed overloaded and displayed a visualization that didn't make much sense. That may have been due to how I set things up because once I simplify the view, it usually works properly again.

“Turn raw data into clear charts”
Pros
One thing I really like is how user friendly the program is in the way it handles data. You can take raw information and turn it into a clean, easy-to-read chart or visual format which makes it much simpler to communicate your findings to other people.
Cons
The downside is that it takes a significant amount of time to learn, build with and fully manipulate the product. The filtering options feel somewhat limited and getting the exact result you want can be challenging. Being highly skilled in Excel does not really give you much of an advantage here since you have to rethink your approach and learn a different set of commands to produce the outcome you need.

“Great visuals for presentations”
Pros
There's a lot you can do with this software. It produces excellent charts and presentation-ready visuals while still keeping the key information clear and useful.
Cons
It's definitely complicated. There aren't many tools or guides to walk you through how to do something but once you learn it, the software is amazing.

“Strong integrations with good dashboards”
Pros
The interface stays surprisingly clean considering how much you can customize. It lets you build all kinds of charts, graphs and visualizations from imported data and the backend integrations with data warehouses and pipelines make it especially powerful for larger companies with more complex requirements.
Cons
It's usually possible to create the exact visualization or data view you're after but on the viewing side, interacting with filters and exploring the visuals can feel a little sluggish. I do wish that part of the interface responded faster.

“So many ways to build visuals”
Pros
Tableau can feel both simple and highly advanced which is honestly one of its biggest strengths. If all you need are quick visuals, it handles that really well but it also lets you build much more complex work when you want to push it further. The part I always mention to others is that if you can imagine something, there's a good chance you can build it in it. It is incredibly flexible and On top of that the online Tableau community offers a ton of support.
Cons
It does let you use initial SQL and custom SQL when connecting to databases but the SQL editor feels more like a basic notepad and doesn't offer much help for actually writing code. Because of that, we usually write our SQL in DBVisualizer first and then paste it into it. It would definitely be better if writing code directly inside it were more practical and user friendly.

“Strong reporting with good connections”
Pros
Working as a data scientist, I can say this is one of the tools we rely on most at my workplace. It's not just me either but other analysts use it regularly to create reports as well. Another big plus is that it integrates with a wide range of other data source tools without much trouble.
Cons
One thing that does get frustrating is the speed. I use Tableau Desktop and it can be quite slow at times, with response times that sometimes feel very high.

“Choose how you deliver data”
Pros
It works as a dedicated platform for data management and collection. It lets us adapt how we receive the data we need, whether through txt files, CSV or Excel which really helps when delivering information to customers.
Cons
The admin side feels limited and could offer stronger user management options especially for the servers we set up.

“Strong connections with good analytics”
Pros
Having used Tableau Desktop for a long time, I can say one of its biggest strengths is how flexible it is. It integrates to a wide range of data sources like Hive, Impala, Presto, Cloudera Hadoop and many others which makes it really useful for different analytics needs. At times it can run a bit slow and the pricing is definitely high but with the features it offers, I am still happy to pay for it.
Cons
The price is definitely on the expensive side but it makes analytics very simple which is why I am still willing to pay for it and end up using it every single day.

“Good dashboards for business insights”
Pros
Whenever Salesforce dashboards don't give us the visibility we need, we turn to other tools. Tableau covers just about everything we're looking for in that area and really helps us break down our business needs in a meaningful way.
Cons
One thing I'd still like to see is deeper integration with other software so we could bring all of our data together in one place and make better use of it.

“Use analytics anywhere on mobile”
Pros
One of the best parts is how well it works on mobile. The responsive design makes it really convenient to check data and view visualizations while on the go without feeling limited.
Cons
The downside is that it's not very cost-effective for individual users and seems better suited to companies or larger organizations. Connecting it to a real database can also be difficult especially if the data isn't already stored in Excel.

“Great dashboards with easy publishing”
Pros
Putting dashboards and reports together in Tableau is fast, user friendly and efficient. The visuals look appealing and are user friendly to work with. I also get a lot of value from the Show Me feature since it helps cycle through different chart and visualization options quickly. Connecting to data sources such as Oracle and Snowflake and pulling data in is very easy too. Data modeling is simple as well. Publishing to Tableau Online or Tableau Public directly from Tableau Desktop is convenient and sending dashboards and data sources to the server works really well too.
Cons
One area it could improve is row-level security. Having more built-in, out-of-the-box options there would be very helpful.
