“Great charts but harder to learn”
Pros
this tool makes it possible to pull together large amounts of data and turn it into charts that are much easier to understand.
Cons
Compared with other tools it is more complicated to use. It would be better if the interface were more user friendly so creating advanced graphs didn't require someone with a lot of experience.

“Clear visual insights”
Pros
It's a much more effective way to take in information than reading everything in written form.
Cons
The cost is pretty high and there aren't any pricing tiers available for individual users.

“Alerts and insights that help”
Pros
Working with data is much more easier in Tableau. One feature I really enjoy is the data driven alerts since they let me monitor important metrics and only notify me when they reach the threshold that actually matters.
Cons
The downside is that it is priced on the expensive side which can make it hard for smaller businesses to afford.

“Strong analytics win”
Pros
Tableau offers a huge range of features that cover just about every part of data analysis and reporting. I was honestly surprised by how many options are available.
Cons
It was pretty easy for me to learn although getting comfortable with the more advanced features could take some extra time for some users.

“Connect to many data sources”
Pros
There's a lot to like about Tableau especially how many data sources it integrates with. The wide range of integrations makes it really useful and flexible to work with.
Cons
One thing that would make it even better is having stronger video tutorials that explain how to use the software more clearly.

“Broad connectivity with strong dashboards”
Pros
A really strong data visualization platform. The dashboards look clean and are very easy to read and it integrates to nearly every data source I need.
Cons
It takes time to really get the most out of all the features in this software. Having more tutorials available would make the learning process a lot better.

“Strong BI with expert support”
Pros
Tableau has been a really valuable tool for our company. Most of the work is handled by our BI engineer and with someone on your team who really understands data, Tableau can deliver just about everything you need.
Cons
Without a strong background in data, it can be pretty challenging to work with. Sharing reports and insights with other people can also be harder than it should be.

“Good dashboards for business teams”
Pros
Business users can build dashboards and reports on the fly and the reports are simple to read and understand. The mix of charts, graphs, tables and statistical data really helps users analyze results and take action based on what the reports show.
Cons
It still feels a bit too early for me to point out any real downsides since I only started using it recently.

“Lots of ways to visualize data”
Pros
The biggest plus for me is how much flexibility this software gives you when working with data and building visualizations. When I first started using it, I felt both overwhelmed and excited because there were so many different ways to transform and explore my data.
Cons
Getting comfortable with the program took quite a bit of time. I had to work through a pretty steep learning curve and I ended up searching online often to understand certain features or troubleshoot odd visualization issues. It definitely took longer than I expected to become truly proficient with it.

“Strong dashboards for BI teams”
Pros
i think it really stands out when it comes to building dashboards and creating charts from multiple data sources. It's very approachable for dashboarding and that makes it a strong choice for Business Intelligence work.
Cons
There are plenty of articles explaining how to set up Tableau Server or Cloud with different data sources and for a BI or Data Analytics manager, a lot of it may seem like it should be easy. Still if you don't have a team or the technical support to sort through permissions and database indexing details, it can become difficult. The pricing structure can also get a bit tricky and you may end up moving between admin, creator and viewer roles just to manage licensing costs.

“nice visuals”
Pros
Between the fair pricing, professional visuals and highly approachable interface, this platform stands out as one of the best I have used. It gives you a simple starting point for the basics, while still letting you layer in more complexity as business needs grow. Setting up dashboards and stories for ongoing, reliable data monitoring has been especially valuable.
Cons
I am still hoping they add write-back to the database. It would be incredibly useful if the visualization platform could also support making and applying backend changes directly.

“Strong dashboards with nice visuals”
Pros
As a data analyst, I have been working with Tableau for the last two years and it has been really useful. It offers a wide range of visualization features and options and it helps a lot when building strong, effective dashboards.
Cons
Compared with some other tools, it doesn't let you run SQL queries directly within the platform and the documentation also feels limited.

“Flexible data handling with great visuals”
Pros
One thing that really works well with Tableau is how broad its data capabilities are. It can import or convert most data types into visual dashboards and charts with just a click of a button. For companies trying to manage raw data more effectively, it's a strong option because it can work with almost any format you need. It also does a better job of organizing, filing and storing data than a lot of other tools. Even though it's a fairly advanced platform, it's still quite approachable and not too difficult to learn or adjust to.
Cons
The downside, like with many data platforms, is that the cost can be high for some businesses especially if they are not using it on a regular basis. Another limitation comes down to which version you have since certain features are locked or unavailable at specific pricing tiers.

“Great UX with customizable charts”
Pros
Using Tableau is not a hassle and it probably offers one of the best user experiences among BI tools. The color palette is excellent and the chart customization options are a big plus.
Cons
It has released a data prep/ETL tool but it still lags quite a bit behind Microsoft's Power Query.

“Visual analytics with strong dashboards”
Pros
Tableau gives us outstanding visualization choices with lots of chart types and layout options to build dashboards the way we need. It also supports basic calculations on the source data before putting everything into a dashboard which is really useful. Connecting it to an existing data lake was also easy and the option to write custom SQL for queries adds a lot of flexibility.
Cons
One limitation is that end users with a view-only license cannot really make simple changes to an existing dashboard on their own. It also requires the server or desktop application to be installed in order to create and share dashboards which can feel a bit restrictive.

“Analytics that work across platforms”
Pros
Getting through data analysis and visualization is really quick with this application. Having it available across platforms is a big plus and it works well with a wide range of database platforms.
Cons
Some of the features take a bit of time to understand because they can feel fairly complex. The limited training documentation is a major downside and the pricing is also a little on the expensive side.

“Good-looking visual analytics”
Pros
it really makes data feel alive. With just a basic understanding of SQL, it's possible to get started and depending on what you need, you can build some very advanced interactive charts and visualizations. The range of options Tableau offers for plotting and analyzing different kinds of data is impressively sophisticated.
Cons
Getting everything set up and becoming familiar with all the available features does take a while so the learning curve with it can feel pretty steep.
