Efficient forecasting

Pros

The tool stands out to me for its strong scenario modeling and unified data structure. I can run flexible what-if analyses and update rolling forecasts efficiently, all from a single reliable source of truth that helps prevent duplicate or conflicting data. It works well with our internal systems and supports automated data consolidation which reduces a lot of manual effort and gives me more time to focus on strategic business insights instead of repetitive spreadsheet tasks. It also connects well with SAP ERP and our BI tools making data synchronization simpler and helping us build clear, actionable business dashboards.

Cons

One clear drawback is the time it takes to get used to especially for team members without a technical background. Advanced modeling and custom setup need formal training which slows down onboarding. The interface also feels dated compared with newer cloud based tools with fairly rigid navigation and limited self service reporting so many routine requests still depend on the central analytics team. On top of that integration with our telecom infrastructure is fairly complex to implement and maintain which means ongoing IT support is usually necessary.

Shines when it comes to planning!

Pros

Planning and forecasting are where this software really shines. After the initial setup is done it manages large datasets very efficiently and processes updates quickly. The Excel integration was also a big plus since it feels more familiar if you already work a lot with spreadsheets. On top of that the in memory TM1 engine keeps calculations and updates moving fast.

Cons

There's definitely some learning involved with it so it's not the kind of tool you can fully master right away. Parts of the interface feel a little dated as well and the initial setup can be time consuming. To really take full advantage of everything it offers you usually need technical expertise or dedicated support.

Positive experience

Pros

Using this software has made integrated planning much more organized with its automation, advanced analysis, scalability and flexibility. It cuts through the usual spreadsheet mess, helps reduce manual effort and mistakes and makes planning and execution much faster. The real time insights are very helpful and the automation along with the what-if scenarios adds a lot of flexibility. The TM1 Engine stands out for its speed, flexibility, efficiency and consistency. For planning and budgeting, the centralized planning and rolling forecasts are especially useful and the predictive analysis in scenario modeling is something I rely on quite a bit.

Cons

Because it is multidimensional it can feel intimidating for new users.

Good for complex operations

Pros

Running this tool in a large global industrial automation environment has been a big advantage for us! Its biggest strength is how well it manages complex, enterprise level planning at scale. The TM1 multi dimensional modeling engine is extremely capable and it lets us create detailed, flexible models for production forecasting, supply chain planning and profitability analysis without struggling under the weight of thousands of cost centers and sites worldwide. The real time aggregation and collaboration tools are also a major plus since finance, operations and engineering can all work from the same plan at the same time which cuts down on version confusion and delays. Other than that the scenario planning function has been very useful for testing supply chain disruptions, raw material price fluctuations and changes in production demand all of which are essential for our business.

Cons

An area that still feels behind is the user interface in certain modules. Some parts of the software come across as outdated when compared with newer planning platforms. Navigation can be less accessible than it should be and the dashboards often need significant customization before they look polished and approachable for non technical managers. We have also noticed performance slowdowns with extremely large datasets. When we run full year forecasts across global production, supply chain and sales entities all at once, queries and consolidations can start to lag. It handles large scale planning well overall but the speed is not always where I'd want it to be for real time decision making on the factory floor.

strong fit for us

Pros

Has been a strong fit for our business because its scenario modeling and forecasting capabilities handle the volatility we deal with in glass, ceramics and concrete manufacturing really well. We can create multiple what-if scenarios quickly, assess risks and adjust plans in real time which has made a big difference in how we prepare for cost swings and protect our margins. Another big advantage is having financial and operational planning brought together in one platform. Instead of relying on disconnected spreadsheets, we can connect manufacturing volumes, supply chain plans, procurement costs and revenue projections in one place which cuts down on mismatched data and keeps our plans aligned with actual plant capacity and operational limits.

Cons

A drawback is that the platform takes time to learn and can be fairly complex to configure. When we need to set up new models, change dimensions or update scenario structures, it often requires help from our analytics team or outside consultants because it is not accessible enough for typical finance or production users to manage on their own. Even smaller updates to planning templates can take more time than they should which slows us down during busy planning periods. The interface also feels a bit outdated and not as responsive as newer cloud planning tools. People using it every day especially in production and logistics, tend to find it less user friendly and that sometimes leads to manual workarounds and lower adoption.

powerful tool, dated interface

Pros

Gives us a really strong multidimensional planning setup and it has been dependable for managing project based data in our information services business. Being able to structure budgets and forecasts by project, department, client and time period makes it far more capable than relying on standard spreadsheets. It lets me monitor revenue, resource costs and margins at a detailed level without losing sight of the overall financial picture. The forecasting and scenario modeling features are especially valuable because we can test different business cases quickly which matters a lot in a fast changing industry like ours. I also appreciate how reliably it integrates with our existing project management and ERP systems since that automates data movement and cuts down on manual effort. Automated forecasting pulls in real time information from those systems, keeping projections current and accurate while helping us anticipate cash flow requirements and make staffing adjustments sooner. Scenario modeling has had a major impact on how we assess opportunities and management decisions since what-if analysis that used to take much longer can now be done in minutes. On top of that the integration capabilities create a unified planning environment that improves accountability and lets the team spend more time on strategy.

Cons

One major downside is how difficult to use it can be to paticularly for non finance users like project managers and department heads. A lot of people on our side just need to enter project budget numbers or look at forecasts yet they still find the interface too technical and not very accessible. Even basic tasks often require help from the finance team which slows adoption and adds to the support burden. The interface also feels a bit outdated and does not have the kind of modern, user friendly design many people expect now. Navigation can be frustrating as well with too many clicks needed to reach common reports or data entry screens. Mobile usability is another weak point since it is not very convenient for employees who are working at client sites or away from their desks.

dependable performance

Pros

This been a strong fit for us because it brings together powerful multidimensional modeling and dependable performance. We can organize data across product lines, sales regions, production sites and time periods at the same time which makes it much easier to slice results and compare performance for seasonal planning and promotional activities. The forecasting and scenario planning capabilities are where it delivers the most value for our business. We frequently test changes in raw material costs, seasonal demand surges and the effects of marketing campaigns and the system manages these detailed what-if scenarios without noticeable slowdown. That flexibility has made a real difference in helping us stay responsive in the fast-moving consumer goods space.

Cons

A big challenge with the platform is the intial difficulty. A lot of our sales, production and marketing teams only need to make budget updates or check basic reports yet they still find the interface and navigation confusing and more complicated than necessary. Even easy tasks can end up requiring extra training or help from the finance team which slows down participation across departments. The user interface also feels dated. It does not offer the modern, mobile friendly experience that many newer planning tools provide. Pulling up forecasts or approving budgets while away from the office is awkward which becomes frustrating when managers are on site at production facilities or meeting with retail partners.

valuable platform

Pros

It has been really valuable for turning our scattered spreadsheet data into one dependable planning system that suits our small furniture manufacturing business in Krumbach. With a team of just 12 to 15 people we don't have a dedicated finance or data department so having something simple and practical makes a big difference. The platform allows us to create forecasts for material costs, production schedules and project profitability without needing deep technical knowledge. Its forecasting tools are especially useful and the real time visibility into data helps a lot. We can adjust assumptions for wood, fittings and labor and immediately see the impact on margins for custom furniture orders. The reporting is clear and professional which helps us make decisions faster and with more confidence. It also fits well into the way we already work, cutting down on repetitive manual tasks and giving the team more time to focus on craftsmanship and customer work instead of entering data.

Cons

At the same time the system can feel a bit too heavy for a small workshop like ours. Some of the advanced modules built for more complex supply chain or financial planning just don't apply to our custom furniture business yet they still take up space and make the interface feel more complicated than necessary. We've also had some inconsistent integration with our local production software so we often need to manually double check data to make sure material orders and project plans stay accurate.

Made work more manageable!

Pros

Running complex consumer goods planning in Berlin has become far more manageable with this software especially down at the SKU and product line level. It gives us a level of clarity and control we really did not have before. Financial, sales and supply chain data now sit in one centralized place which means we are no longer spending hours reconciling mismatched figures or chasing the latest version of files. The real value comes from being able to create detailed, real time forecasts and test what-if scenarios instantly. That has changed the way we prepare for raw material cost changes, seasonal demand shifts and promotional activity. With hundreds of SKUs across Germany that kind of flexibility is incredibly valuable.

Cons

The downside is the interface which still feels outdated and too technical for people outside the FP&A team. Our sales and supply chain teams in Berlin often do not find it very accessible and even basic navigation can be a challenge which slows overall adoption. Because of that many users still prefer working from exported Excel files instead of using the platform itself. It is difficult to figure out for occasional users. More simplified, role based dashboards customizeed for sales, production and logistics would make a big difference compared with having everyone deal with one complicated interface. Better mobile and offline access would also help our field and warehouse teams in and around Berlin enter data or review forecasts while on the move instead of waiting until they are back at a desk. The initial setup was workable but it was not especially easy for our Berlin consumer goods team paticularly without deep TM1 technical expertise.

Useful tool

Pros

From a planning standpoint this tool fits our commercial photography and media production business really well. Its strong multidimensional planning and tight Excel integration give us a clear view of project revenue, studio capacity, equipment expenses and team utilization all in one system. That level of visibility is incredibly valuable. We can build detailed, flexible forecasts without relying on messy spreadsheets everywhere. The Excel connection is especially useful since both our finance and production teams can keep working with data in a format they already know which helps with adoption. Being able to track multiple variables at the same time is essential in a fast-moving industry like ours and pulling data directly into Excel also helps cut down on errors and reduces training time.

Cons

On the downside the built in dashboards and visualizations feel behind the times compared with newer tools. In the luxury and commercial world, stakeholders and clients expect reports that look polished, modern and visually strong. Their native charts and dashboards just do not offer enough flexibility or design quality to meet that expectation. Because of that we often have to export the data into Excel or Power BI just to create reports that are presentation ready for leadership and clients which takes away from the value of having an all in one planning platform.

Solid forecasting

Pros

Bringing financial planning, forecasting and operational data together in one system has been a big advantage for our mid-sized furniture company in Munich. Instead of juggling disconnected spreadsheets that create version issues and inconsistent numbers we now have one reliable source of truth for the finance, production and sales teams. The realtime collaboration is especially useful when we need to update budgets and forecasts at the same time paticularly during changes in raw material prices or shifts in demand for our custom furniture lines across Germany. It also strengthens our demand forecasting by combining historical sales figures, regional production volumes and raw material cost changes. Scenario modeling is much simpler, reporting cycles move faster and decisions are backed by better data. With centralized information and fewer manual calculations, spreadsheet mistakes are reduced and decision-making becomes more efficient.

Cons

One downside is that the interface feels a bit outdated and not as accessible as newer cloud based tools so new team members in sales and production usually need more time to get comfortable with it. Even fairly basic tasks like entering data or customizing reports can seem more complicated than they should which can slow down everyday work. On top of that connecting it with our current production and inventory systems has taken more manual configuration and ongoing maintenance than we expected. Because of that data movement is not always as smooth as it should be and we occasionally notice small sync delays.

has many pros!

Pros

Having financial and operational data together in one platform makes a big difference when I need to run scenarios and see how budgets change under different conditions. This is really helpful for organizing, analyzing and planning work around supplier sourcing and contract negotiations. It does a solid job of letting us compare scenarios, costs and possible supplier choices which is very valuable during decision making. I also appreciate how it turns raw financial numbers into information that is much easier to understand and act on which helps both stakeholders and the finance team communicate better. The faster what-if analysis is one of the biggest advantages and it leaves us better prepared for negotiations because we have clear data ready when new suppliers are being considered. The reporting and visualization features for stakeholders are another big plus.

Cons

Since I'm still new to this area it has been a bit tough to get used to. It's definitely a very useful platform but I need more time to get fully comfortable with it. While it is flexible and can be used by people without deep technical skills, the complexity can still feel intimidating at times.

Saw a real difference!

Pros

Using this tool for financial planning, budgeting and forecasting has made a real difference in how we analyze business data and build accurate forecasts for better decisions. It cuts down heavily on manual spreadsheet work, improves accuracy and makes collaboration much better across the team. The platform handles large datasets quickly which helps a lot when we need fast analysis or want to run different scenario plans. I also appreciate the Excel integration because it lets teams keep working in a familiar environment while still taking advantage of the platform's full capabilities.

Cons

The area that could use some refinement is the user interface since it can feel a little complex for new users getting started. At times the layout seems somewhat cluttered especially when moving between planning and reporting sections. The initial setup was manageable overall but it did require some technical knowledge and careful planning to get everything in place.

Pros

One of the biggest benefits of this software is how well it brings all our data into one place so we no longer have to rely on a bunch of separate spreadsheets. That alone has made teamwork much more efficient. It also lets us run scenario modeling very quickly which is especially useful when planning pricing strategies and accounting for things like holiday driven price fluctuations. The platform is very flexible and the Excel integration is excellent making it simple to refresh reports, dig into the data and tweak assumptions to immediately see how forecasts or margins change. That flexibility has been especially valuable. On top of that, the onboarding experience went well for me and the learning process felt manageable so getting up and running was fairly easy.

works with MS excel

Pros

The best part is how well it works with MS Excel! The dashboards are detailed and thoughtfully built and even as someone who is not a power user I can see how advanced users are able to create really impressive forecasting models with it. It has also become very important for us as a single source of truth when making revenue focused budget decisions. On top of that it's a strong platform for supporting strategic decisions based on data.

Cons

From a business user perspective creating customized dashboards is not very easy. The self service options are quite limited which makes it harder to work independently. Some report views could also be simplified especially for leadership, by removing extra details that are not always necessary. The initial setup can be challenging paticularly for business users and without an AI builder, the whole process feels even more complicated.

Solid results

Pros

It brings together AI powered insights and strong overall performance. The Granite based analytics and natural language planning features work really well alongside the ultra fast in memory TM1 engine making real time analysis and what-if modeling feel very capable and responsive.

Cons

That flexibility also adds a fair bit of complexity so it often takes technical expertise or outside consultants to get the most out of it. Excel integration is solid but the web interface can still come across as fairly technical even with the recent modernization updates.

reliable tool

Pros

Budgeting, forecasting and financial consolidation are where this tool has been especially useful for me! It does a really good job of pulling figures together while also helping manage data and security. One of the biggest advantages is that multiple users can work in it at the same time without issues. There's a lot you can do with the platform and up to this point we haven't run into a problem that couldn't be addressed. I also appreciate being able to build applications that suit both advanced users and everyday operational needs. It has taken the place of several spreadsheets and automated a lot of work that used to be done manually. Getting everything set up at the beginning was easy.

Cons

Can still be challenging for some users to get used to this tool and that really depends on who is handling the onboarding for you.
