MuseNet Features
MuseNet can blend different musical styles in novel ways. For example, it can take the first few notes of a Chopin Nocturne and generate a convincing pop-style piece with piano, drums, bass, and guitar, blending the two genres seamlessly.
The software provides two modes for creation. Simple mode lets you explore pre-generated samples by choosing a composer or style. In advanced mode, you can interact directly with the model to compose an entirely new and original musical piece.
Users can control the generated music through composer and instrumentation tokens. By prepending these tokens to a sample, the model is conditioned to create music in a chosen style, such as a specific composer or with a particular set of instruments.
Using a ‘Sparse Transformer’ with a long context of 4096 tokens, MuseNet can remember and maintain long-term structure in a composition. This allows the model to create pieces that have coherent melodic and harmonic development over several minutes.
