“calls connect properly”

Pros

Unlike some free softphones that run into bugs like call timeouts, this one gave me a really good experience even in the trial version. Calls connect properly and I haven't had issues getting them through.

Cons

Logging out on the web version is simple but on mobile it's much harder to do.

“affordable tool”

Pros

Compared with other options on the market, the pricing is noticeably lower. After spending a little time getting used to it, the software becomes quite simple to use and set up. The calling experience is also highly customizable especially for situations when no one is available to answer and the drag and drop setup makes those adjustments uncomplicated.

Cons

A downside is that you need to install third party software to enable bridging before everything works properly. Support after the sale is also not very helpful so it's better to rely on their chat support rather than the person you worked with during the purchase process.

“reliable for IP calls”

Pros

It's simple to use and very lightweight. This is the IP telephony tool I've been using for the past several years and it performs really well on both Linux and Windows.

Cons

On Linux which is where I use it most, the 3.X version can sometimes freeze. When that happens, I have to delete the .linphonerc file and set everything up again to get it working properly.

“interface could be better”

Pros

One of the biggest advantages of this product is the price. It also comes with plenty of useful and interesting features.

Cons

The visuals are where it feels weaker. The interface layout could definitely be improved and overall the user experience is just okay.

“Simple to use”

Pros

Using it has been going really well and the part I appreciate most is how simple it is to handle. Up to this point, I also haven't run into any bugs at all.

Cons

For the way I use it I really haven't noticed any downsides.

“multiplatform access”

Pros

Being a multiplatform app is a big plus since I can use it wherever I am without being tied to one device.

Cons

I do run into some connection problems and the interface feels a bit outdated.

“Quick installation”

Pros

Running calls in an enterprise style setup feels very simple with this software. Installation is quick, usage is simple from the start and users can begin working within seconds without much setup. The call history is nicely organized, the answer buttons are quick to access and the app can stay minimized in the desktop bar without getting in the way. It also works across Linux, Windows and iPhone which is really convenient.

Cons

The limitation on desktop computers is that the keypad is hidden by default and there doesn't seem to be an option to change that.

“packed with useful features”

Pros

This being open source is a huge plus because it makes the app auditable and adds a level of security I really appreciate. It also comes with a wide range of features which means it covers everything I need without feeling limited.

Cons

Something that could be better is the support since it feels a bit lacking at times. I'd also love to see more emojis included.

“handy multi SIP setup”

Pros

Getting Linphone up and running is pretty easy. Installation doesn't take much effort and the setup process is simple enough that in just a few steps it can be fully operational with a SIP service account connected. The interface is user friendly and one thing that really helps is being able to keep several SIP accounts in the same program and switch between them very quickly.

Cons

One inconvenience is that there are different builds depending on the Linux version which can be a bit awkward. The address book is also fairly limited. On rare occasions, we ran into compatibility issues between certain sound codecs and the computer although it didn't happen often.

“Keeps track of call history”

Pros

It lets me place outgoing calls and keep track of the recent call history which is helpful for day to day use.

Cons

On some computers the software occasionally stops responding and when that happens, we have to restart the whole computer instead of just closing and reopening the program.

“useful media encryption”

Pros

Running multiple SIP accounts in one place is really convenient and the app is very simple to use. It also includes media encryption which is a big plus and being free makes it even better.

Cons

Whats missing is a call forwarding button. It also needs a reboot whenever the USB media devices are changed especially the microphone which can be annoying. On top of that the language support is limited and Arabic isn't available.

“Love that its opensource”

Pros

Using it feels easy and I really appreciate that it's open source. The multi line support is especially useful in a development environment and makes handling different lines much more practical.

Cons

There are still some issues with audio devices when using it in a multi device setup.

“feature set is too basic”

Pros

When someone calls it rings and when you dial a number, the call goes through. It does exactly what a calling app is supposed to do without any extra clutter or unnecessary features.

Cons

That same stripped down approach also makes it feel very old fashioned. The design and feature set both seem outdated and every caller gets assigned a long, hard to recognize ID number which makes identifying people much less convenient.

“plenty of configuration options”

Pros

Integrated messaging, per contact call history and plenty of configuration options make it very practical to use.

Cons

Prioritizing codecs is a bit difficult since it's not something you can set with a simple click you have to edit the file manually.

“Great audio and video quality”

Pros

It has been an excellent softphone for me, with all the functionality I need and good quality audio and video. Another big plus is that it can be customized and modified.

Cons

The part I'm not really into is the graphical interface since it feels a bit less attractive than other softphones. It would also be better if there were more themes available.
