From my perspective, it feels like the system was built with real industrial workflows in mind and that shows in how practical it is.

There were a few gaps at first but we've been working with the company to get those added so the product becomes more complete for measuring, defining and improving efficiency and productivity across our site.

Right from the beginning, I noticed strong data control which helps me keep everything properly structured. The data analysis features are also strong and I've found the customization options very useful. During a difficult integration, the support I received was excellent and really helped me move forward.

Cons

Working through the integration with the SABIC system has been challenging. That said, the issue is tied as much to SABIC's infrastructure as it is to the software itself. We've also heard from planners that the interface for entering activity information could be more user-friendly. In addition, a couple of important features still need to be implemented, specifically IPLAN to P6 and IPLAN to SAP.

Pros

Getting the permit software set up didn't take much effort in my case and once configured, creating detailed permits became very simple. I also find it useful that I can attach documents directly. The system keeps improving over time and I can see that customer feedback is actively shaping the design and workflow improvements.

Cons

Adding new areas or updating safety questions can take a bit longer than expected because it requires jumping back and forth between different settings pages.

This has been a very useful SAP add-on for me especially for handling norms-based estimation and creating workpacks for maintenance and turnaround activities. I also like the variety of dashboards and reports available and I've noticed that development continues based on user needs which adds long-term value for me.

A lot of thought clearly went into building this software in a way that actually matches how our business runs, while still leaving space for future improvements. I find it easy to use, visually clean and still powerful enough for more complex work when needed.

One thing I've learned is that the process is rarely as simple as it seems at the start, or as easy as you hope it will be. Changes that look minor on the surface often turn out to be more complicated and take more time than expected.

Having everything in one place for job bookings, estimate approvals and control has made my day-to-day work much easier to manage. It saves me from switching between systems and keeps everything organized.

Cons

It isn't as responsive as it should be. After completing a transaction in IPLAN, it doesn't take you back to the section of the system you were working in. Also, the report layout is better suited for printing and takes a lot of reformatting before it can be used in separate spreadsheets. It would be much better to have both a print format and an Excel-friendly format option.

For me, the software feels very easy to use which is especially important since a lot of our tradesmen use it directly on job sites.

At times, it seems like some data has to be entered twice when assigning resources to both a job and an activity.

They also adapted their IPlan product to match our specific needs and we use it to manage work packages from start to finish. Keeping everything in one system has helped me reduce admin work, improve reporting accuracy and keep better control over the process.

One thing I really like is the custom database setup which gives room for future expansion. I find it simple to navigate and it works well across different platforms which makes it feel like a long-term solution.

At this point, we don't have any particular concerns with the scope of work. Building a tailored system has been a learning process for both sides especially as we've now asked for it to move into the second stage of development for our Permit to Work and Isolation systems.

After years of working with high-end consequence modelling tools in high-risk industries, I found iThermal and iDispersion surprisingly easy to work with. Many traditional tools feel heavy and require deep expertise just to stay productive but these feel more approachable. I can get useful results much faster without needing constant retraining. While advanced tools still have their place for deep analysis, I find these cover most of my practical needs for everyday business use.
