needs better text recognition and stationary edit

Pros

What really stood out to me was how you can throw almost any image or document at it and start messing with it right away. No fuss.

Cons

I really wish the text recognition worked better. Also once you upload a document you should be able to edit things that are just sitting there on the page like headers or other fixed items but you can't.

Limited fonts and file quality

Pros

The PDF editing part doesn't cost anything which is nice. You get all the basic stuff like adding your own words, dropping in shapes, setting up fields however you want and then sharing it out or saving it straight to whatever cloud service you use.

Cons

You don't get a ton of editing options and the font selection is pretty limited. On top of that the file quality coming out the other end isn't exactly top notch.

works well with google tools but less simpler than adobe

Pros

It plays really nicely with Google docs and other tools I already have. You can grab pretty much any document and start tweaking it without jumping through hoops.

Cons

Honestly I don't find Kami as easy to figure out as Adobe. With Adobe it's usually pretty obvious where you're supposed to type or where to drop your signature. With Kami you kind of have to jump through more steps just to finish up and save the thing.

Simplifies digitizing PDF notes

Pros

I absolutely love Kami's annotation tools! It lets me dive right into my assignments whether I'm highlighting text, adding comments or even drawing diagrams. It really helps me understand the material better and get involved. Plus teachers appreciate the ability to annotate PDFs directly.

Cons

We haven't really had many issues with Kami. When we first started using the Kami/Canvas integration, the grade passback was a little glitchy but that's been fixed now.

students markup work easily

Pros

The way Kami lets kids mark up their work is a game changer. They can highlight stuff that matters, drop comments everywhere, sketch out diagrams, all of which actually helps them get the material better. And from where I sit as a teacher, having something that lets me mark up existing PDFs without jumping through hoops is exactly what I needed.

Cons

We honestly haven't hit many problems with Kami. Back when we first started using it with Canvas, the grades weren't always coming through right, but that eventually got fixed and works fine now.

I'm a huge fan of Kami!

Pros

I've been using It for years and I can't imagine my life without it! It makes typing on PDFs so easy and I use it all the time. It's even added as a Chrome extension for quick access. My favorite features are the textboxes and the drawing tool especially for signing documents.

Cons

I can't think of anything I don't like about it. It's super easy to use. If I had to suggest something maybe keeping my signature on file for consistency would be nice!

Daily use for pdf typing

Pros

I live in Kami for typing onto PDF documents. Years now, and it's honestly made everything so much simpler. It's literally an everyday thing for me and I've got it parked right there as a Chrome extension. The textboxes are my favorite, and the drawing tool for when I need to sign something.

Cons

I genuinely can't think of anything I dislike. It's so simple. If I had to come up with something maybe if it could just save your signature somewhere so it's the same every time you need to sign something that would be a nice touch.

Perfect for handling documents

Pros

It is such a game changer for me! It lets me modify documents to fit the needs of both my students and clients. Super convenient and efficient.

Cons

Sometimes, the page margins are a bit too small to leave comments on the documents which can be a little annoying.

reshapes documents for students

Pros

Kami lets me reshape documents however I need to so they actually work for my students and clients. Everyone's different and this helps me meet them where they are.

Cons

Sometimes the page margins are just too cramped to actually write comments on the document. You run out of room fast.

Essential for our learning

Pros

It's awesome for turning any document into an interactive digital worksheet. It's perfect for digital assignments in the classroom and I love how easy it is to work with.

Cons

Some tools give me a bit of trouble like adding text and positioning it just right. It's not a huge deal but it can be a little tricky sometimes.

turns documents into interactive worksheets

Pros

You can grab any random document you have laying around and Kami turns it into this interactive digital worksheet that actually does stuff. Perfect for when you're running a digital classroom and need assignments that aren't just flat text.

Cons

A few of the tools give me grief occasionally. Like adding text and trying to nudge it into exactly the right spot can be a pain.

Great tool to make PDFs interactive

Pros

I've been using Kami for a few years now and it really brings PDFs to life. The annotation feature is perfect for group presentations. Also it integrates easily with Google Suite tools and it's free to use which is a huge bonus.

Cons

The free version is honestly great, no complaints here.

pdf annotation is awesoomeee

Pros

I've been on Kami for years now. My favorite thing is how it makes PDFs feel alive and you can actually write all over them. When I'm presenting to a room full of people, this is huge. And the fact that it just snaps into Google tools as an add-on without charging extra? Yes please.

Cons

To be totally honest the free version is already great. I have no complaints.

Best for online learning

Pros

It is super easy to use and has tons of editing options. I work with both in-person and remote students and it makes sure they all have access to the same content no matter where they are. The ability to edit documents and use extra tools like a dictionary and pictures is a game changer for keeping them engaged.

Cons

I really don't have anything I dislike about Kami right now. It works well for what I need.

Simple to use for remote students

Pros

I'm constantly amazed by how much you can tweak in Kami while keeping everything dead simple to use. We've got students sitting right in front of us and others joining from home. Everyone needs the same materials no matter where they're logging in from. Kami makes that actually happen. Plus our whole program lives online anyway, so being able to mark stuff up and pull in dictionaries and pictures and whatnot keeps people interested and actually using it.

Cons

There's nothing I dislike about Kami right now. It just works.

Such a handy tool!

Pros

This tool has so many features I love! Annotating documents, collaborating with others, using comment tools and integrating with our LMS are just a few. Plus it has fantastic accessibility options making it so easy for everyone to use.

Cons

There aren't many downsides but one thing to mention is that there are limited features available for free access which is understandable.

Our go-to app

Pros

Kami's accessibility features are amazing! Students can engage in lessons using text, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, video, audio and even screencasts. It's fantastic that one tool can meet the diverse needs of all our students with features like multilingual dictionaries a variety of voices for Read Aloud and translatable menus. It really helps our Student Services and Dual Language Programs provide support efficiently.

Cons

If I had to pick something I like the least, it would be that there are fewer resources in the Kami Library for secondary levels.

Key tool for learning at NISD

Pros

It makes every online resource interactive! The Canvas and Google Classroom integration is so handy for sending assignments, leaving feedback and reviewing student work in real-time. It also lets students add images, videos and drawings which is awesome for their creativity. And as a teacher I love being able to control which tools are available based on the assignment. Kami's a must-have!

Cons

Any feature I needed that wasn't already in Kami's tools has been added by the team. One thing I'd love to see is the ability for users to add pages anywhere in their work not just at the bottom.

Annotating and collaboration great

Pros

Honestly there's too many good things to list. But if I had to call out a few, annotating documents is huge, working together in real time is slick, the comment tools are perfect, hooking into our LMS was painless, and all the accessibility stuff they built in makes sure nobody gets left out.

Cons

There really aren't many downsides. The only thing, and it makes total sense, is that the free version doesn't have all the bells and whistles. You have to pay for the full experience.
