“Makes recruiting much simpler
Pros
Lightster makes recruiting for user research incredibly simple. Before we had to manually find and reach out to people ourselves which took forever.
Cons
This isn't really Lightster's fault but it can be hard to know if someone is the right fit just from their profile. Job titles can be misleading because roles vary so much between companies.

It was such an easy way to connect with exactly the right people in specific industries and roles I needed to learn from.
Cons
Pricing especially for accessing US participants was a bit steep for us.

“Great for quick, affordable validation
Pros
The hardest part of early market research is always finding the right people to survey especially when you're just trying to see if your idea has any potential. Lightster gives us direct access to our target audience which lets us run quick, affordable validation tests.
Cons
Since it's still an early-stage company, some parts of the process feel a bit limited and require manual work. The quality of candidates can also be hit or miss depending on what you're looking for.

Pros
The Lightster team is fantastic. They're super responsive and provide white-glove service helping you with whatever you need. It's been an amazing experience.
Cons
The software wasn't immediately simple to me at first. But once I reached out to the team they walked me through everything and it all clicked into place.

“lacks a full platform for reminders and payments
Pros
Customer support is incredibly responsive and understanding. I also love the flexibility, being able to easily reschedule, cancel or start a new round of research is great. They get people signed up for interviews very quickly.
Cons
The platform itself felt a bit basic. It was missing features like automated reminders, updates for appointment changes, a way to get pre-interview consent or compensation for late arrivals. We also ran into some participants whose background information wasn't current..... like someone who hadn't actually owned a kitchen in years.

“Helpful survey feedback but cost is high before starting interviews
Pros
I've gotten some helpful feedback on my survey questions though I haven't started the actual interviews yet.
Cons
Cost felt pretty high for our budget. I should note I haven't actually conducted interviews through them yet.

“Huge audience with simple interface
Pros
They have a huge audience to target, the interface is very basic and simple, the calendar sync works well and the support is great. It has everything you need.
Cons
You can't adjust your targeting criteria after you've set it up but it hasn't been a major issue for us.
