3D drawing with different projection angles

Pros

This software lets me draw 3D details from various projection angles, making part sizing very straightforward. The ability to export drawings in different 2D formats like DXF or 3D formats like STL for use in other programs or 3D printing is very useful.

Cons

The various updates involve changes that take some time to get used to, altering the way I use the software.

If you take the time to learn, you will be extremely satisfied!

Pros

It's complete, free, and the community provides the support needed for any questions. While it's not SolidWorks, the value for money is unmatched.

Cons

The initial handling is quite cumbersome, and sometimes design issues are not clearly explained, so I have to dig to find out the cause. Also, if I place a chamfer and modify previous calculations, the chamfer might disappear or move, which is frustrating. It would be helpful if the software could automatically understand and suggest checks for such issues.

FreeCAD professional level tool

Pros

This is an excellent tool for designing detailed structures, analyzing deformation, and calculating strength parameters. It even works on less powerful machines.

Cons

Transferring drawings to paper with the desired level of detail is challenging, as there's significant loss. For large and detailed structures, using only FreeCAD is very complex and might require additional tools for a more intricate job.

More than what you pay for

Pros

As the name suggests, the software is free. The active community has done an impressive job creating a fully-functional CAD program with many industry-standard drafting tools and numerous optional add-ons.

Cons

Unlike other modern free and open-source programs like KiCad, the focus hasn't been on improving the user interface. Consequently, many operations are awkward and tedious. Also, the native rendering capability is lacking, making the displayed objects look outdated.
