Accurate and dependable, but PDF features could be improved

Pros

Insite has always been a reliable solution for me, thanks to its precision and exact amounts. What makes it more appealing is that it can be used for the smallest and the most significant projects alike. The InSite team is always searching for ways to improve the product. It also has a stable cloud connection, which ditches the USB key requirement and enables working remotely.

Cons

Its annoying that PDF is supposed to be in a vector format for the PDF takeoff feature to work flawlessly. When it isnt, which is always the case, performing the takeoff is difficult and time-consuming.

Life saver!

Pros

InSite has been saving my life for quite a while. I use Insite to calculate the quantities of our earthwork, pipe excavation and backfill, finish grade, asphalt, concrete, and topsoil. And make sure the amounts are precise. For our field survey and GPS layout, I utilize Field General. I create my own TINS to manage our GPS system.

Cons

While working with this software for so many years, I have noticed that the reports may be a little bit more in-depth in some cases. But overall, everything seems fine.

Insite is very helpful

Pros

Most of my time is spent in the field so finding something that works this well was a joy to me. It is very accurate and my customer likes the 3D model.

Cons

You cannot basically scroll through a list of diagrams. You have to click on every one of them until you get to your desired one.

Excellent for takeoffs in site work

Pros

I have used it as my go-to for all takeoffs with a cad file or pdfs. They have been really focused on updating the software so it stays very competitive.

Cons

Modeling is limited as compared to other software.

Effective and trustworthy

Pros

It has a speedy takeoff especially when using vector PDF. 3D modeling is quick and helps you spot mistakes if any.

Cons

I cannot align sheets independently and also cannot select and edit pipe input.

Amazing software! Using it for 2 decades

Pros

I started my career using this and it has made me who I am today! Customer support has become like a family to me by now. I have convinced many companies I have worked for in the past to switch to InSite.

Cons

Perimeter lengths needs to be added to subgrades. The shrink/swell function operates a bit differently than what I'm used to when doing it manually.

Elevation PRO is essential for me

Pros

I have genuinely tried using alternatives but always end up coming back to InSite! User interface is by far the best. All buttons are there for a reason and are very neatly presented.

Cons

Take offs and modeling from a non-vector PDF was quite challenging for me.

Cons

Everything is okay but I think some of the reports could be more detailed.

Thank you insite!

Pros

Thanks to its completely paperless nature, it has saved us a lot of time to prepare takeoffs. They always keep improving it which is great.

Cons

The only problem I faced is files arrangement and naming is not the smoothest in this suite.

Easy-to-use program

Pros

Our company has been very confident overall when it comes to projects. We can visualize the proposed site to get an idea of its logistics and then nail down the logistics.

Cons

Reports are hard to read. It took me some time getting used to.
