Our most expensive business mistake

Pros

We've been struggling with Acumatica for over 3 years. The whole process of setting it up was a mess and to this day, we can't get accurate tax calculations on quotes. Anytime we need help, it costs a lot and the issues never get resolved. The system is super unstable, overly complicated and just not user friendly.

Cons

The sales pitch was all about convincing me to spend tens of thousands of dollars. We are still trying to solve issues from three years ago and we keep getting billed for them over and over again. As a business owner for over 20 years, this has been my worst decision and experience.

Improved my small business operations

Pros

MYOB has changed the way I do business. I've really enjoyed using the program. It's easy to use and the training time required is minimal.

Cons

I loved everything about MYOB compared to other programs I've used. It was so much easier to get the hang of and really helped my business run smoothly.

Falls short of modern alternatives

Pros

I don't see anything special. This is just basic accounting software with inventory management. Xero gives a better solution with more add ons and better pricing.

Cons

There are better options available, such as Business Central, which is cheaper, has more features, and offers a better design. MYOB only supports foreign currency with one master currency, and its inventory valuation is done by warehouse, leading to different unit costs across locations. The licensing is complicated and unreliable, and using subaccounts instead of dimensions is confusing. It lacks AI, inventory reporting is difficult, and job costing doesn't fully integrate with accounts payable.

Powerful but complex to implement

Pros

It's really flexible and covers most business needs. The reports are detailed and customizable. I can access it from anywhere,and it integrates well with other tools.

Cons

The setup is a bit tricky and takes time. Some updates aren't communicated well and the pricing might be too high for small businesses at first.

Does everything but looks dated

Pros

I love how centralized it is. I can get an overview of all my business functions easily.

Cons

The current UI is not my favorite. It feels very outdated and not easy on the eyes.

Feels like a permanent subscription

Pros

It's a complicated system and difficult to use. It's alright but a bit too complex and the customization is expensive.

Cons

Unable to leave it. There's no option for opting out so I guess I would have to keep paying forever.

Four years of unresolved chaos

Pros

Nothing positive to say. We've been dealing with MYOB Acumatica for over 4 years now and we still can't get anyone to clearly explain what's going on. A few people have been helpful but most just don't care. We've spent so much money fixing things and worse, we've lost customers and staff because of the headaches it's caused us.

Cons

The development and platform teams never give us clear information about the work they're billing us for. It's hard to trust them when they don't provide any insight into the issues they're fixing. It makes it tough to manage costs, budget properly and run the business. The worst part is that every year, we end up paying for the same fixes again with no record of the issues from the previous year.

Overpromised and underdelivered value

Pros

We were told that it would be an all in one product for our business which is exactly what we were looking for.

Cons

The base cost and ongoing monthly fees for support, licenses and add ons are crazy high. The interface is outdated and not userfriendly. It takes way longer to enter an invoice or do anything compared to MYOB AccountRight. If you make a mistake, it's not easy to fix and that creates a mess in the records. When MYOB does an improvement, they also raise our monthly bill to cover the costs. Ideally, they should be absorbing the cost of improving the system. If you want to create a customized template for an invoice, you'll need to pay around $800 for someone to do it and they won't even teach you how to do it yourself without charging extra.

Works perfectly for all skill levels

Pros

It's pretty easy to use and I can manage things well. There are some userfriendly options that make it easier to work with.

Cons

I can't really think of anything I dislike. It's a good system for both beginners and advanced users.

A bit challenging to master

Its userfriendly nature stands out for me. The tutorials they offer are also super helpful and make getting started much easier.

Cons

Great reports only when sync works

Pros

The range of report options is perfect for our organization and it really helps us cover all the bases.

Cons

After the recent upgrade, we had issues with our ProSpend software as it wouldn't sync properly. It took over 24 hours to fix which wasn't ideal.

Great GL Integration but Limited Multi-Company Use

Pros

It links well with the GL, comes with built in tax settings and STP reporting is easy as well.

Cons

With MYOB Pay Super, I can only register one company at a time, which feels quite limiting when managing multiple businesses.
