Pros

With Edge, I don't have to stress about my building expense calculations because everything is clearly shown within it.

Cons

Sometimes I find it difficult to access the software.

Time is Money.
Pros

My favorite feature is the option to copy a job or conditions and apply them to a new job. Once I get the hang of the tools in EDGE, I can set up a new job with similar conditions to a previous one and quickly complete the bid, saving time compared to starting from scratch. Getting more bids done in less time is definitely a win!

Cons

At first, switching from version 10 to 12 felt unnecessary since we were so used to version 10. However, after using it for a while, the differences aren't significant. The Estimating EDGE Technical support is fantastic at helping out with any issues, usually something quite simple.

Review of Product Software
Pros

The Edge estimating software helps me ensure our bids are accurate and lets me provide quick and simple numbers to our clients.

Cons

The initial setup to build the assemblies was a bit of a hassle, but it was worth it in the end!

An good tool for analyzing and pricing bids, as well as project management.
Pros

EDGE is great for organizing and displaying a lot of valuable data for precise bid estimation, and it automates all the pricing and bid document submissions. I also appreciate how EDGE can function as a project management tool, helping accurately track tasks and facilitating team collaboration on work programs and technical and financial reports.

Cons

With the right training, there's no need to feel overwhelmed; everything will be done on schedule.

Bad Start - Wrong Product - Zero Flexibility
Pros

I think the software is solid, but we lost the key employee who was supposed to use Edge before she even got trained.

Cons

I think the software itself is good, but my review reflects a poor experience during a tough COVID period when management didn't support us at all. We had someone set to handle "bidding projects," but they left before being trained. We never used Edge and requested a refund, but the company kept our $10,540. Even though we signed a contract, they should have offered some refund instead of being completely inflexible. I'm very unhappy with Estimating Edge Company, not the software itself.

The best applications to help make appropriate assessments for new bids
Pros

EDGE is a highly advanced app with impressive features. It simplifies the estimating process for new bids, contracts, and any extra work needed. With EDGE, it's easy to ensure accurate quotes and evaluate actual quantities available to the company, which helps in making new pricing decisions.

Cons

There's nothing notable to mention; it might seem a bit tricky for beginners, but with some training, you can get the hang of all the tools and tasks.

After learning it well, you love it.
Pros

The version I use is not the most approachable or interactive. It's quite technical, which I prefer. Not everyone picks it up easily, giving me an edge since I've learned it better than most others I know. I've heard of companies buying it but not using it because they don't have anyone skilled enough. That's my advantage for landing good jobs.

Cons

This version only works on up to Windows 7, which makes it feel a bit outdated. To use it on newer Windows versions, you need to upgrade, which involves additional costs and becomes web-based and dependent on the internet. I'm not a fan of that.

Easy to use, and give accurate estimates
Pros

It's simple to use, allows for job customization, and eliminates the need to print blueprints. They've made improvements so that I can just adjust prices as needed.

Cons

It can get quite detailed if you don't use it regularly. However, there are tutorials on their website to guide you, and support is always available.

My Edge Review
Pros

It is an all-in-one take-off and estimating program that integrates with accounting software for precise job costing. Being cloud-based means there's minimal digital footprint on someone's computer, and I can access my project from anywhere with an internet connection.

Cons

The reporting feature for modifying default reports is really time-consuming and should be much simpler.

Sheet metal modified Roofing License
Pros

I love the cloud functionality, accuracy, and how easy it is to use.

Cons

We use a customized roofing program, so we need a few workarounds to price material costs accurately. There's no sheet metal optimizer for flat sheet material and no cut list calculator for wall panel materials.

Good overall, need a few more features
Pros

I appreciate that the takeoff and pricing functions are combined in one program. It's simple to adjust prices and production rates, and the takeoff process runs smoothly.

Cons

Some basic functions need to be added: 1. CTRL+Z for undoing the last operation. 2. Ability to cut (or copy) and paste multiple conditions between pages. 3. Autofill or suggestions when typing in a group code.

Estimating Edge Review
Pros

If you're involved in fireproofing, this is the essential software. It makes everything simpler and eliminates the guesswork and time required for manual estimating.

Cons

The scroll wheel doesn't work, and it feels like using software from the 90s, but that doesn't affect overall functionality. There's a slight learning curve, but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.

Best Roofing Estimating Software on the Market
Pros

It's easy to use, with a database for labor and materials, report generation, and the ability to import estimates into Timberline/Sage 300 accounting software. The tapered insulation module lets us handle our own tapered packages and shop drawings in-house.

Cons

The new version lacks the Detail feature of the previous one and updating item pricing is cumbersome.

Pros

Review
Pros

It's very easy to input standard item data.

Cons

It should be possible to make system-wide changes (like roofing) without manually adjusting each item in an assembly. For instance, running a bid with GAF and switching to Carlisle should automatically update all materials to Carlisle. It needs a more advanced method for calculating dumpsters and the ability to change blanket items in a bid without having to individually update each detail (like changing sheet sizes or switching from standard to low-VOC bond).
