It's been an essential tool for our remote team to share assets. It has improved our ability to oversee and collaborate on content effectively.

We've brought up the issue several times but the lack of a working plug-in for our WordPress system has been a point of frustration since we started. Sometimes it even crashes at the same stage of the process (like during uploads) so it would be ideal if that could be resolved to improve the user experience.

“A solid, reliable all-rounder for asset management

Very good. The database works efficiently and reliably. After more than four years of consistent use so I haven't experienced any downtime. The help desk and customer support are well-organized and respond quickly to any inquiries. Canto also offers a great collection of tutorials and guides for admins and contributors. There are some minor issues, but when I submit a ticket, the response is always quick, friendly and honest. My organization mainly uses Canto for photos/stories and as a publication library.

Cons

There are only a few places worldwide where CANTO is unavailable and unfortunately, one of them is a country where my organization works. Also when we first began using CANTO, the pricing structure wasn't entirely clear to us.

I've really enjoyed my experience with Canto! It's a very useful product, though some UI improvements could make the experience even better.

Cons

I've experienced occasional unresponsiveness when uploading files. I wasn't particularly impressed with the Adobe connector either, as it hasn't been helpful. Also, the portal customization interface could use some improvement, it's unclear how to change colors, move titles or remove unwanted buttons. I love the feature and it was a big selling point, but it could definitely benefit from better UI. It would also be great if there wasn't a checkered background on album covers for vector images. I prefer not to clutter up the album with a custom icon.

I love how it organizes my files into so many categories. Sometimes we need a very specific image among thousands of files and the tagging in Canto makes it easy to find it in seconds!

Sometimes, creating links can be a bit tricky.

It's fairly simple to use but there are some shortcomings. We had half a day of online training, but there's virtually no backup support. My emails go unanswered and no one answers the phone when I call.

The available 'views' are a bit limited for my needs. For example the �list view' thumbnails for products like pens and rulers are too small to identify what they look like. The other views crop images if they're too large, making it hard to recognize the product. I've also run into bugs, such as not being able to display grayscale images saved as .psd files. Another feature I really like is the portal setup, but we often need to create portals for our distributors. The issue is, each one has to be set up manually even though most of them are identical. It would be much more efficient if there were a template option.

It gets the job done as a digital asset management tool, though it's not the most enjoyable to use.

I find it not to be very user-friendly especially the search function. It's tough to find what I need.

With so many features, it can be confusing at times to figure out where to find what I'm looking for. However once I get used to it, it's not an issue anymore.

Excellent support from ALLEN. It can be administered independently. Extremely fast search and great search options. Connection to PIM system works well. Assets can be shared easily. Duplicate assets are detected. Text recognition in common formats. Integration into Office365. The mass renaming feature is very useful.

Cons

I've noticed a few limitations like assets can't be printed directly, nor can they be copied to the cache. The iOS app still doesn't support SSO login and there's no mass search for .txt search terms. Consumers can't download linked files the same way admins can. Additionally, I can't adjust the resolution of PDFs when downloading and there's no connector for Excel.

Simple and clear, and you can customize things for your own use.

It lacks a good interface for websites like Typo3.

The workflow doesn't feel very fluid. The input mask during uploads can be confusing at times (sometimes inputs are copied, sometimes not).

The user interface could use some work especially with features like "smart filters" or "smart views," better curated view management, Photoshop integration and the Canto Connector still lacking a �relink all� feature for InDesign.

“It's really stable, fast and easy to learn

Pros

The support is excellent. Availability is high and the system has a high tolerance for errors from contributors (it's nearly impossible to forget to save). The results are quick even with slow data connections from home offices. Occasional users can navigate easily. Great features like custom collections, quick selections and group formations. Assets can be cropped and compressed when downloading. The filter function works well for large numbers of hits.

Cons

It would be great if I could manually change the creation date, which is especially important for archiving older records. Also sometimes uploads fail when the data connection is slow and I have to restart the process.
