“Excellent service!

Pros

I really appreciate that it compresses my website image files, making them smaller and more efficient.

Cons

I can't think of anything, except that it requires payment for even a small amount of storage space.

I am only using this for converting images, and I absolutely love the way it handles the conversion so I don't really have any issues with it.

We were locked into a lower legacy rate, which made Cloudinary an incredible deal. It was simple to use and the links would load very quickly.

The pricing doesn't seem competitive compared to other alternatives. If we weren't locked into a legacy rate, we might have reconsidered it. Also the user interface feels quite outdated.

Pros

The ability to set 'quality' parameters across images, compress the file size and adjust the height and width is key for SEO image optimization and improving page speed (Core Web Vitals).

Cons

While setting up quality parameters for SEO is relatively simple, users focused on content or uploading may struggle to verify image file sizes. It would be great if it could display the image file size within the URL parameters or show savings in file size.

We use it primarily for image and video storage and it provides a secure and easy solution compared to on-premise or other harder to use options. Additionally, it has a well-integrated ecosystem of products that work seamlessly together.

Cons

One downside is the vendor lock in. Due to their comprehensive ecosystem of video and image products and APIs, it can be difficult or impossible to integrate Cloudinary with other solutions.

It's documentation is comprehensive but not well organized, making it difficult to find specific information. The search functionality isn't very effective and there's no dedicated support channel like a Discord server for instant feedback. It's also not as easy to use with modern SSR platforms such as Nuxt/NextJS.

Cloudinary's powerful API allows developers to implement file storage for any internet-connected app quickly, and it goes a step further by enabling transformations when retrieving image files.

The onboarding process could be smoother. In the start it wasn't easy to find the necessary information to connect to the API, though things became much clearer once I knew where to look.

Pros

I found this tool through a referral from ReferralCandy, and it was super easy to set up. I'm currently on the free plan and it's meeting all of my needs.

Cons

No cons so far but the only potential downside is the high cost of the paid plan, which is $99 per month. I'll cross that bridge when I need to and decide if the features justify the price.

I love that I can upload an image and perform almost any transformation I need to get it to display perfectly in my web applications.

The cost structure includes transformations but it doesn't seem to allow for a permanent transformation, meaning every request for a transformation counts towards your credits. It would be nice if there were a way to make this more efficient, like a one time transformation cost for the image. When dealing with thousands of images undergoing the same transformation repeatedly, the costs can add up quickly. This is just one of the many metrics that contribute to the billing credits.
