“Highly customizable”
Pros
Built specifically for private equity asset management, it can be customized really well to match the unique workflows and requirements of our business.
Cons
Since the software runs on the Salesforce platform, any frustrations someone already has with Salesforce features can carry over into AIM. For example some of the same quirks found in Salesforce reporting also show up in AIM reports.

“Top-notch support and scalability”
Pros
It has been an excellent addition for us. We brought it in to bridge two separate systems across our investment and fundraising functions and it has done that really well. The support team has been outstanding throughout and it feels like a platform that can continue to grow right alongside our firm.
Cons
There are still some limitations that come from Salesforce.

“Client reporting made better”
Pros
AIM makes it simple for us to share information and reports with clients which has been really helpful.
Cons
Report generation still feels less user-friendly than I'd like and I wish that part were more simple.

“Helpful kanban view”
Pros
The Kanban view works really well for seeing the status differences across each record at a glance. The reporting feature is also very useful because it makes it much easier to understand the overall picture.
Cons
It would be much more efficient if we were able to adjust and customize views, formats and fields more easily on our own from the user side.

“Custom fit for private markets”
Pros
Built for private market investors, it feels well organized and highly customizable. Having Salesforce as the foundation is a big advantage too since it opens the door to a lot of extra resources that are readily available. The Altvia team has been incredibly attentive, responsive and thoughtful throughout and their deep institutional knowledge really shows because they've worked with such a wide range of private market investors. Pretty much every idea or request we bring up gets met with a solution or at least a practical workaround.
Cons
Launching a CRM and getting an entire team to adopt it well enough for reporting to be truly useful is a major project no matter which platform you choose. Altvia was very supportive in helping us get there though. That said because the product is built on Salesforce, there are still some limits around customization, much like you would expect with Salesforce itself.

“Flexible features and helpful onboarding”
Pros
Most of what I need is already handled by the standard feature set which covers the majority of my use cases. When something specific wasn't available out of the box, the Altvia onboarding team was able to put together a simple customization to make it work.
Cons
As with most systems built on Salesforce, it does take a fair amount of user training before people feel fully comfortable using it.

“Knowledgeable support team”
Pros
Altvia is tailored closely to the way we work which makes it really valuable for our team. The support team is consistently available, helpful and knowledgeable whenever questions come up. It offers a wide range of functionality and connects well with other platforms we already use. I keep discovering new ways to use it to make daily tasks and communication, both inside and outside our office, more efficient.
Cons
The platform isn't always the most user-friendly and there's definitely a learning curve. That said, the support staff is usually able to resolve issues and explain things clearly which makes it much easier to get up to speed.

“Tailored for investment firms”
Pros
Having Salesforce-level flexibility without the costly, complex implementation has been a huge plus. Altvia clearly understands how investment firms work and that comes through during the implementation process. The out-of-the-box functionality is strong and when customization is needed, their team does an excellent job supporting it.
Cons
Standard reporting in Salesforce can feel a bit complex when putting together ad hoc reports. It can also be pretty intimidating for someone who is new to the platform.

“Provides custom reports”
Pros
Management regularly asks me for custom reports so I'm often building them from the ground up. It helps a lot that I can use existing reports as a starting point, make the needed changes and save them instead of beginning from zero every time. Whenever I run into trouble with reporting, Customer Service gets back to me quickly which makes a big difference. On the admin side, being able to create fields myself without waiting on outside help is especially useful when someone is actively working on a project. Another feature I rely on is the ability to scan or upload PDFs, search by keywords and quickly locate them in Files.
Cons
Something that becomes tedious is when an investor belongs to several funds and the Primary Contact or Advisor at that organization changes. In those cases, the Primary Contact has to be updated manually at the fund level for each entry which turns into a lot of extra work when there are multiple records involved.

“Reliable support”
Pros
Bringing AIM into our existing workflow went very smoothly and the Altvia team handled the implementation really well. The final result is a user-friendly and effective system that helps us manage our investees and keep track of portfolio performance reporting. Their ongoing support has also been prompt and consistently high quality.
Cons
It would be helpful to have more advanced reporting and business intelligence capabilities and in the end we're still limited by what Salesforce can do. That said, Altvia has been supportive in helping us look into third-party options.

“Adapts nicely”
Pros
Right from implementation, AIM adapted to the way we already work instead of forcing us to reshape our processes around the software. That level of customization made rollout and user adoption much more efficient than with similar products. After more than three years on the platform, we've continued to make plenty of adjustments and the Altvia team has been there to support us at every stage. On top of that, we get all the advantages of Salesforce, strong security, a non-captive platform, lots of training resources, along with investment-specific features like deal pipeline and fund management, plus a very knowledgeable support team. Altvia Correspond has also been a major upgrade from our previous mass email tool and has made vendor management much simpler.
Cons
There is definitely a bit of a learning curve when it comes to Salesforce, especially with some of the more advanced capabilities like reporting and validation rules. It helps a lot to have one or two designated power users who can take the lead and help the rest of the team as they get familiar with it. Bulk data migration can also be somewhat challenging but the Altvia team guided us through the process and made it manageable.
