ScanQueue

Overview
ScanQueue helps walk-in businesses replace paper sign-in sheets with a QR code waitlist that customers join from their phone browser. Bookings may not suit services that need deposits or prepayment, but it can work well for barbershops, cafes, and venues that want guests to wait elsewhere until called.

ScanQueue Features
QR Check-In
ScanQueue gives each business a join page and a printable QR code that can carry its logo and brand colors. Customers scan the code, see the current queue size and estimated wait, choose a service, and complete a short form whose fields the owner can rename, require, or hide. Since customers see the wait before joining, they can decide to stay or come back later without asking staff. Customers can join by scanning the QR code with a smartphone, while staff can manually add walk-ins. Businesses can configure queue capacity up to a maximum of 500 entries.
Smart Notifications
For customers who enable push alerts, ScanQueue sends free push notifications first. When push delivery is unavailable, the platform supports WhatsApp notifications with SMS fallback. The ready-soon alert can be timed 1 to 30 minutes before a customer’s turn, giving them time to return from nearby. On WhatsApp, customers can reply STATUS or LEAVE to check their position or exit the line.
Staff Mobile App
The free staff app for iPhone, iPad, and Android lets staff call the next customer, mark guests as served, add walk-ins, and move someone to the front of the line. Staff can sign in with PIN, and logins can be locked to a single counter, so each team member works only on their own station. A queue delay control adds five-minute increments to all wait estimates when service slows. Reports, full settings, and billing are available only on the web dashboard.
Online Booking
Online booking is switched on per service, and each slot’s length follows the service’s duration. Capacity comes from the service, so three chairs allow three bookings in the same slot, and repeat bookings can run weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. Each booking can trigger up to six messages, including a confirmation and 24-hour and 1-hour reminders, which can reduce manual reminder calls. Padding between bookings cannot be set separately, so any buffer has to be built into the service duration.
Online Ordering
Online Ordering lets guests scan a QR code, order from the menu in their browser, and pay through the business’s own Square account. Paid orders appear in Square as pickup orders with matching numbers, so staff do not need to re-enter them at the register, and they move each order through New, Preparing, and Ready on a live board or TV display. ScanQueue adds no per-order fee. Ordering is currently pickup only, Square is the only supported processor, and menu prices must include tax.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to set up ScanQueue?
ScanQueue setup takes around five minutes across four steps, and most businesses are fully operational within their first day.
Does ScanQueue require a long-term contract?
No, ScanQueue has no lock-in contracts. Cancelled subscriptions stay active until the end of the current billing period, and account data is kept for 30 days so it can be exported.
Does ScanQueue offer API?
Yes, API access is available on Enterprise plans on request.
Do customers need to download an app to join a ScanQueue queue?
No, customers do not need to download an app. They scan a QR code and join the queue through their phone’s browser, while a separate staff app is available for the business team.
Can customers join a ScanQueue queue remotely?
Yes, customers can join from anywhere if the business shares its queue link online. Businesses that want joining limited to the venue can switch on walk-ins only mode, which turns off self-join so staff can add each customer at the counter.
