Dependable protection without slowing your system

Pros

Regular updates keep our computers protected against new threats all the time. It's simple to use and, unlike a lot of other antivirus programs, it doesn't drag the machine down.

Cons

Honestly, I don't have any complaints even with the free version. I'd definitely recommend downloading it and trying it out and I've already suggested it to friends.

Dependable malware cleanup at no cost

Pros

Having it available at no cost for personal use is a huge advantage. Alongside Malwarebytes, this is the tool I rely on whenever I need to clean an infected computer and up to this point it has never let me down.

Cons

This may be a bit of a minor complaint since they are a business after all but the free version does push the paid upgrades pretty heavily. I'm not saying the upgrades have no value but if all you want is to run an occasional virus scan, the constant upsell can feel like a little too much.

All-in-one security that performs well

Pros

Having antivirus, malware defense and web security all in one app is really convenient. Even the free version covers the basics you need to keep a laptop or PC protected. Once you move to the paid version, you also get ransomware protection which is especially valuable for businesses and works very well.

Cons

The downside with AVG Internet Security is that it is not cheap. That said, the higher price does come with stronger protection for web browsing and the ransomware protection is definitely a worthwhile addition.

Reliable security with automatic scanning

Pros

Right from the start, AVG has kept my system virus-free. The setup was quick, it updates itself automatically and the scans run on their own without me having to think about it.

Cons

The price is a bit high, pretty much in line with most security software. Also even though AVG has kept me safe from viruses, I don't think it catches every type of malware or adware. That said, filling that gap with a free tool is pretty simple.

Reliable alerts with flexible scan scheduling

Pros

Whenever I land on a risky website, AVG warns me right away and blocks any malware before it becomes a problem. Another thing I appreciate is being able to schedule scans so they run automatically without me having to remember.

Cons

One annoyance is the popups that occasionally appear pushing the premium version and encouraging me to upgrade. They can be pretty irritating after a while.

Outstanding protection at a competitive price

Pros

AVG has been a really good option for the price. I've used it on and off over the years and right now I'm using it on my smartphone.

Cons

The free version only goes so far. That said, for something free, it's still pretty decent. It's just a shame it doesn't offer as much as the paid version.

Complete protection at a sensible price

Pros

One of the best parts is how many features it includes for such a low cost. From an administrator's perspective, being able to install and configure AVG across other computers on the network is really valuable. It keeps e-mail attachments, web links and downloaded files protected and it helps protect against ransomware and malware. Another thing that deserves recognition is the support from specialists by e-mail and phone since most antivirus products don't provide that kind of service.

Cons

I really haven't come across any downsides. The program has a simple design, the platform feels complete and the pricing is excellent.

Dependable security for daily use

Pros

These days, having something like AVG feels essential whether you're a student, a gamer or using your computer for work. Threats and scam attempts are so common now that having protection against people trying to get into your device and steal from you is really necessary.

Cons

Because cyber threats evolve so quickly, security software can't always stay one step ahead, there are still going to be some gaps and vulnerabilities. Regular use helps but it doesn't guarantee complete protection.

Lightweight and easy to deploy

Pros

It comes ready to use right after deployment and doesn't put much load on system resources which is a big plus.

Cons

One downside is that the advanced settings don't always match the information available online, for example with email certificates.

Protection you can count on

Pros

It works as expected and usually handles the job well. Most of the time, it provides the level of protection you need.

Cons

At times, it puts too many icons in the bar which can get a little annoying.

Powerful real-time defence

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is the strong real-time protection against viruses, malware, spyware and similar threats. It also lets you choose which areas to prioritize during scans or run a full system scan when needed. On top of that, it adds protection while browsing the web which makes it feel more complete.

Cons

A downside is that it tends to flag quite a few false positives during system scans especially when certain games are installed on the computer. That said, there is still a way to adjust the settings and have the antivirus ignore specific files.

Blocks unauthorised hardware key access

Pros

It does the valuable job of protecting the system from intruders and the updates are frequent enough to stay current with new viruses and emerging threats.

Cons

At the same time, it locked our system down more than it should have. We rely on another program that uses a hardware key and has to stay in constant contact with the vendor for anti-piracy authentication. After an AVG update, it began blocking all of those authentication attempts and we ended up losing a full day and a half of production because the software couldn't communicate. When we reached out for help, customer service just kept shifting the blame to the other company instead of resolving the issue.

Helpful website trust indicators

Pros

One of the biggest benefits of using AVG Internet Security is that it helps identify whether a website is safe or not. It automatically shows a security badge which makes it much easier to judge sites before opening them. It also protects against harmful websites that may contain malware or spyware so the overall level of protection is really very good.

Cons

The only issue I've faced with AVG Internet Security is that browsing can sometimes lag while visiting websites. Other than that, the program works very well and is reasonably priced for users.

Real-time security with up-to-date protection

Pros

AVG's biggest advantage is how well it stays updated against the newest virus threats while continuously monitoring the system in real time.

Cons

One annoyance with AVG and honestly a lot of similar tools, is that when a reboot is required, any open tabs in Windows can sometimes be lost.

Reliable security with effective cleanup

Pros

AVG does more than just protect against viruses which is something I really appreciate. It also helps speed up my device and clears out unnecessary files and that has given me real peace of mind.

Cons

I've occasionally run into situations where AVG blocks certain programs from being installed on my PC, identifying them as potential threats or problematic software.

Dependable security with useful controls

Pros

Browsing feels a lot safer with AVG and the scan coverage across the computer is very thorough. There's enough flexibility for advanced users to fine-tune which locations get scanned for added protection, while beginners can still boost their system security without much effort. The interface is very clean and polished and extras like scheduled scans make it even more practical to use.

Cons

One downside is that it uses a noticeable amount of system resources so the computer can slow down when a scan is running in the background alongside other tasks. I've seen things like websites taking longer to load during those times. Because of that, I usually can't run scans whenever I want and instead schedule them for nighttime when I'm not using the machine. I've also run into a few false positives where harmless files or items were flagged as threats.

Cost-effective protection without compromise

Pros

Setup and day-to-day use have always been manageable. It has protected my computer reliably for years and I honestly don't see the point of paying more for an expensive product when a cheaper option like AVG simply gets the job done.

Cons

Once the price is taken into account, I really haven't run into any meaningful drawbacks. It's an affordable product that performs well.
