Free alternative to Premiere

Pros

I love that it's open-source software and the best part is there are no license fees to worry about.

Cons

The look and feel aren't as polished as something like Adobe Premiere but it gets the job done.

It's super easy to learn and I picked it up quickly even as a beginner.

My go to for editing!

Pros

I've tried so many software over the years but Shotcut has been the most reliable and stable, up to professional standards.

Cons

I find the text options too complicated and unnecessary, so I just don't use them.

Stay away from Shotcut

Pros

I have got a powerful laptop that can run pretty much anything but with Shotcut, I've noticed that every little thing I do like dragging clips or cutting them and takes an extra second or two. It's annoying because it doubles the time it should take to edit a video. And when I try to adjust a clip or even a JPEG, the editor sometimes lags and does random stuff like stretching a clip over the whole timeline, messing up everything else. The absolute worst is when I hit the undo button and it takes forever to process and when it finally does, it completely messes up my timeline, ruining all the work I've done. Not even doing anything complicated just basic editing!

Cons

Nothing at all, I haven't run into any problems yet.

Pros

What I really like about It is the interface. It's simple to understand and makes everything easy to manage.

Cons

Honestly, for someone learning, It's great but the library of video effects is pretty small compared to other tools.

Free tool with lots of potential

Pros

The fact that it's free is amazing and there's plenty of support online to help you figure out any technique you want to learn.

Cons

I still run into an issue when rendering videos where I have to shift the audio by six frames. It's such a weird workaround and I really think it should be fixed or guided by the software, not left to users to figure it out.

Level up your editing with Shotcut

Pros

It is free and open-source and it's awesome for creating and editing videos. It has tons of video effects and filters that you can apply, plus it lets you work with unlimited video and audio tracks which is great for bigger projects. There are lots of export options too and MP4, AVI, MOV and the best part is that it gets updated regularly with new features and bug fixes to improve everything.

Cons

It has some great advanced video editing features but the audio editing capabilities are a bit limited. It doesn't support 360-degree or 3D video editing and I really wish it had a storyboard view like some other tools do.

free & user friendly

Pros

This is my go to video editing software. It's free, open-source and so easy to use. I love how customizable the interface is, making everything from basic to advanced editing tasks simple. It supports lots of file formats, lets you add effects and transitions and you can even adjust playback speed for slow motion or fast motion. Plus it works on Windows, Mac and Linux without needing super powerful hardware.

Cons

Even though It has some solid features, it can be unstable especially when working with large files or long videos. The interface can be tricky for beginners and some of the more advanced features need technical know-how.
