“Turns photos into 3D textures”
Pros
Turning photos into 3D textures with this tool has been a big help in my freelance work as a 3D clothing specialist. A lot of my clients don't have access to fabric scanning equipment or scanning services and I also don't have the space for that kind of setup. Because of that, being able to start from high-quality photos and build realistic fabric textures for Clo3D, VStitcher, Style3D and similar platforms is incredibly useful. The newer feature for checking the real-world size has also made a noticeable difference when I need accurate scale. On top of that, it works really well for creating embroidery effects and rubber patch details which are requests I get quite often from clients.
Cons
At the same time, it still feels like it needs more features customized specifically to textiles and fashion work. Transparency is a big one so having a way to select transparent areas directly and generate an alpha map would be very valuable. It would also help a lot to have more tools for building maps that apply only to certain parts of a fabric. In Style3D Fabric, for instance, I can use an eyedropper or paintbrush tool to define localized areas of metalness or transparency. That kind of control is especially useful for fabrics that aren't uniformly metallic or don't have the same opacity across the whole surface.

“Amazing tool for texturing”
Pros
It works really well for texturing, especially when doing realistic, real-based texturing. The output looks very good for different kinds of work like movies, games and product visuals because it is built around realistic rendering.
Cons
The smart materials are useful and make it simple to work on different products and assets but a lot of times the final output comes out wrong because those smart materials depend on the rendering.

“powerful texturing toolkit”
Pros
Substance 3D Sampler feels like a huge step forward for creating and modifying textures. As a 3D artist, I've worked with a number of different tools but this one really reorganized my workflow and opened up new creative possibilities. One of its standout strengths is the node-based material creation system which gives artists an impressive amount of control and customization. The interface makes it simple to adjust nodes so building textures with a wide range of refinements and layered effects feels natural and organized. That flexibility, combined with its smooth connection to the wider Adobe Substance ecosystem, makes moving between apps like Substance Painter and Substance Designer very convenient. Whether someone is just starting out or already experienced, the approachable interface and useful documentation make it accessible across skill levels. It's a valuable tool for anyone wanting to push their 3D design further and explore more artistic possibilities.
Cons
Getting comfortable with it did involve a fairly noticeable learning curve and it took some time to fully get used to it. I also ran into occasional performance issues, particularly when working with more complex 3D projects. While it does an excellent job for texture work, I still wish it offered stronger direct rendering features like the ones available in dedicated rendering software. On top of that, its integration with some other software and the pricing of the full Adobe Substance suite raised a few concerns for me. That said, I know software keeps evolving so some of these points may already have improved in newer updates. Even with those drawbacks, I still found it very helpful overall in many aspects.

“Appealing interface :)”
Pros
Right away the interface felt really appealing to use. The realism is one of the strongest parts, especially in the way shadows and lighting are handled. Another thing I appreciate is that it uses RAM but still not nearly as heavily as other software in this category.
Cons
Even though I genuinely enjoy using it, it still feels like it is missing a small detail that would fully reach the level of realism I am looking for. At times, the result feels 98% real but that last 2% still gives off a slightly computer-generated look.

“Easy to turn real-world surfaces into digital textures”
Pros
This software does an excellent job with realistic material scanning and makes it simple to turn real-world surfaces into convincing digital textures. The interface feels user-friendly, it supports a wide range of formats and the toolset is powerful enough to create detailed, high-quality materials.
Cons
It can be pretty demanding on system resources and it takes some time to fully learn everything it can do. The free version also feels somewhat limited in terms of functionality.

“Helpful tutorials”
Pros
Getting started feels more manageable because the tutorials are there whether you're completely new to 3D or just need a quick refresher. It's also nice that the software offers different kinds of features depending on the type of project you're working on.
Cons
Learning how to use it can take some time, especially depending on your level of experience. I also wish the feature set were more comprehensive since what you get seems to vary based on which version of the program you have.

“Simple to get the hang of”
Pros
Outside of work, I've been using this with my 3D printer and it's been really enjoyable on a personal level. We also paired it with Adobe Assets in a business setting and that worked well too. The interface feels consistent with Adobe's other tools so it didn't take long to get comfortable with it. I also really appreciated how much learning material was available right away for new users.
Cons
My biggest complaint, as usual with Adobe, is the pricing. If your company isn't covering it, the cost is pretty steep for personal use. On top of that, trying to cancel is frustrating because you have to click through what feels like six different "are you sure" screens.

“Feature-rich product”
Pros
Turning my ideas into 3D feels pretty effortless with this Adobe tool. The feature set is packed and Adobe Sensei really helps when importing photos and converting them into 3D which is something I truly enjoy using.
Cons
The trial version does come with a few restricted features but that's resolved once you purchase the full edition, where you can properly access the experience and the full Substance 3D Assets library.

“Well designed interface”
Pros
It is a really solid program. One of its biggest strengths is the user-friendly interface. It's thoughtfully designed and simple to use so it's possible to reach a lot of tools and features without constantly digging through menus. Another big advantage is the large texture library. There are plenty of built-in textures available to use as a starting point for projects and bringing in textures from online sources is also very simple. On top of that, the processing system is quite powerful, letting users add high-quality texture and lighting effects that make materials look very realistic and improve the overall quality of 3D models.
Cons
Even though it performs very well overall, there are still a few downsides. The price is fairly high, it can be demanding on system resources and it really requires a powerful computer to run comfortably. Also, compared with other similar programs, its functionality feels a bit more limited.
