“Cleardent is the easiest dental software to use
Pros
I find the ledger and schedule to be incredibly flexible, allowing me to add appointments by simply highlighting the scheduler background. I can also quickly remove mistakes in the ledger with just a few clicks, which is very convenient.
Cons
The customer service has become very slow. It can take hours for them to respond and help fix a problem. More staff need to be hired.

Pros
This software is truly incredible, and I believe every dental office absolutely NEEDS it. It enables me to seamlessly operate a fully paperless office while still keeping track of all the essential details I need.
Cons
I need to purchase add-ons to fully utilize the software, but it's worth the extra cost.

Pros
Cleardent is loaded with a multitude of features and offers a secure software solution for dental offices. Additionally, there is an app that I can use on my phone or iPad to access the schedule, although it does come with an additional fee.
Cons
Charting restorations is a bit annoying as it charts the worst-case scenario, which rarely happens for buccal fillings. Whenever the software is updated, glitches seem to occur for the next month.

Pros
The ledger features are excellent, and the customer support is outstanding, especially if I don't understand something about the ledger or if there is an issue with the software.
Cons
Credits are sometimes confusing, especially if they date back a few years. I often have to spend time figuring out why the credit was applied.

Pros
I love the right-click option that allows me to access all areas of the computer chart! It's easy to use and easy to learn, with many options that I haven't even begun to explore due to time constraints. It's also great that ClearDent allows for customization per practice. The reports I generate are very helpful, and the support team is fantastic they always call back if someone can't help with a problem.
Cons
The ledger is a bit frustrating for my front-end ladies. I don't find it difficult, but they do, and the patients definitely don't understand it, requiring too much explanation. I don't like the patient screen; it doesn't show the doctor the patient sees on the top tab, only in the personal screen. We have four dentists in our practice, and it would be VERY helpful if the doctor they are registered with showed up at the top tab where their name is. In the insurance info screen, there's an option to put in the fiscal year for their plan, but as soon as the year turns over, the computer defaults to the calendar year. This is VERY frustrating because all the accurate insurance info we collected becomes useless. All estimates and treatment planning are wrong if the patient tries to stay within their plan limit, leading to financial nightmares and angry patients. I wish for minimal customization in the insurance tab, like indicating if a procedure is not covered so that cost is immediately transferred to the patient when submitting. EDI doesn't always provide an EOB, sometimes just an acknowledgment. The small visual screen seen when submitting could be a bit larger.

Pros
The menus are very easy to navigate. The software is well-equipped and ready to interface with other applications, making it very versatile.
Cons
I spoke to a tech support guy before, trying to generate a report about canceling appointments on the schedule, but he told me that detail can't be generated. I suggested he bring it up at their next meeting for UAT. I don't know what happened since, but I still can't get that report.

“One of the best Dental Software
Pros
Cleardent has all the necessary features for a dental office and supports a paperless environment. I love not having to write on paper anymore. The remote login feature allows me to view my schedule from home or anywhere else. I've been using this program for the past year, and I absolutely love it.
Cons
They should develop an app for remote access instead of using a browser. Also, make sure you have a strong internet connection because when patients fill out their medical history on the iPad, it sometimes gets disconnected if the internet is weak.

The scheduler is extremely simple to use, and the ledger is very easy to understand. The integrated charting and imaging features make it a complete package.
Cons
There are still some minor bugs in the system that haven't been corrected even after two years.

“The software that could be a market leader but missing one control/feature
Pros
It's a great system for a dental practice, being both easy to learn and easy to use. The technical support is exceptional, and it offers good value for the money.
Cons
The developer refuses to add an option in user setup that would allow the dental practice owner to regulate each team member's access to financial data. The programmers are receptive to implementing fancy visuals but refuse to help safeguard sensitive information. This has been a frustration for over six years.

Pros
As a dental staff trainer, I love the online training tool. The basic framework is clearly reviewed, allowing me and the staff to spend more time training on specific areas. I also appreciate the ease of use and the comprehensive reporting systems for our day and month-end tasks. The customer support is wonderful, and the staff learns more each time they speak to someone. Great job!
Cons
I would like the lab codes not to automatically have a check mark next to them in the treatment planning area. I create templates that sometimes need codes removed, and now, when "remove all checked items" is clicked, a lab code is removed that was auto-checked.

Pros
The software is very intuitive, and the transition from an appointment book to the scheduler was incredibly easy.
Cons
I have to contact Cleardent to inquire about software updates. We don't often need support, so we don't contact them often. I had to ask if there was a more current version we should be on, and it turned out we were about seven updates behind. It would be nice if they contacted us every time there was a program update or dental fee guide update.

Pros
The functions are excellent for viewing all patient information, although there is a lot of clicking from one screen to another. However, the ease of use compared to other programs is a definite advantage.
Cons
I wish there was a feature showing missing information in the patient info area, like no picture on the account in the schedule. The scheduler should show what info is missing on the chart, such as emails, mobile numbers, pictures, with a question mark indicating to go to the patient info screen. Pre-Med should automatically be acknowledged when patients come in, as it can be missed. Notes in the adjustment category should automatically not be checked to show on statements; patients don't need to see them, only the office. PREMED needs to be automatic on any appointment, showing and ticked, not manually entered. I would like to access the deposit from the schedule. Printing patient receipts should be automatic once money is taken and processed. The schedule should link to other areas as it's the main function. I'd like an icon for insurance over three months outstanding on an account, or it should go orange to indicate we should look into it.

Cleardent is based in Canada. With stricter privacy laws in place, I don't have to worry about backups and patient information being stored elsewhere.
Cons

I liked how easy it was to add patients to the schedule and update their personal information. The interaction with insurance companies for predeterminations was also quick and simple.
Cons
I disliked that the interface couldn't be customized to my preference and that differences on the tooth chart weren't shown in day-to-day procedures.
