“Wish our practice had never heard of iO
Pros
When it works without bugs, it saves time compared to paper charting.
Cons
There are software bugs, slow payment processing, new problems from attempted patches, data dropping from input screens requiring rechecks, and inconvenient update times during patient hours. We distrust the company's problem resolution timeframes and the company overall.

“Practice Administrator
Pros
The ophthalmology-specific software's clinical aspect is good to very good, and it also incorporates patient scheduling and some billing functions.
Cons
The company hasn't invested in necessary tech updates to keep the software functional. Each update, whether for Meaningful Use or bug fixes, degrades performance significantly. They haven't hired or trained enough support staff, leading to long hold periods and poor follow-up on open tickets. They often blame hardware and other support vendors.

“This software is not user-friendly; too many steps for everything
Pros
There's nothing I like about it.
Cons
This software is not intuitive for the front desk. There are too many steps to get what you need, and it is very slow.

“Dissatisfied
Pros
I find nothing appealing about iO Practiceware.
Cons
This vendor has a poor track record with us regarding timely responses. Software updates are poorly rolled out with no communication about changes. Mistakes are frequent, and issues remain unaddressed for months.

“Horrible System
Pros
The one thing I like is accessing medical records from anywhere, but that's true for any EHR system, so it's not a specific plus for iO.
Cons
Their customer support is terrible. They don't answer calls, and tickets go unsolved for months if ever. They once opened a new ticket when I called to check on an existing one. The system is super slow, and reports are useless if you need customization or tracking referrals. You can't even print a patient address label. This system has been a constant headache.

“Delightfully user-friendly and very straightforward to learn.
Pros
We've been working with KeyChart's management since 1989, back in the days of PRISM Data Systems. They are wonderful, reliable people. We've been using KeyMedical software since 2006 and added KeyChart several months ago. The software delivers what it promises. We had a failed installation with another EHR company earlier this year when we tried to make a change.
Cons
We have no complaints but will mention one for context. Currently, we are doing paper redundancy at the request of our doctors.

“KeyMedical EMR
Pros
KeyMed is an ophthalmology-specific EMR with exam templates that are easy to customize to your specific needs. It flows smoothly through the exam, and the screen never looks "too busy." Once you get used to it, documenting exams is quick and straightforward. I've been using it since 2006 and have been very satisfied.
Cons
Occasionally, when there's a software update, I'm unaware of what changes were made.

“Best software out there for amazing results!
Pros
This is the best software that can be tailored to your needs. If you need any support or modifications, they are available 24/7. The support team and training are excellent! This is the most intuitive software I have ever used.
Cons
The font size is quite small and can't be adjusted. Other than that, it's fantastic.

“4 years of experience with Key Chart.
Pros
The software is designed for ophthalmology. A smaller vendor seems to provide better and more personal service when needed.
Cons
You need to find a billing vendor compatible with KeyChart. Sometimes, the program runs slower than I'd prefer, which might be due to my computer system's age rather than the program itself.

The simplicity and the follow-up and communication with the company have made this product very valuable.

“Easy to learn and use
Pros
It's simple to use and easy to teach new employees. It's great for practices with multiple offices and is very reasonably priced. The company stays on top of necessary changes. It's one of the first specialty-specific EMRs to achieve Meaningful Use Stage 2.
Cons
We get slightly slow responses from support on customizing the product for individual practices or doctors. Fortunately, once you learn how to do it, most customizations can be done by the user without waiting for the company.
