Pros

Getting started with it was surprisingly quick which has been my favorite part. The onboarding process came with strong training and support from the team and they took time to understand our specific business use cases. They helped us think through problems and find efficient ways to build what we needed. The Academy training has also been very valuable for developing power users across our organization and helping us get the most out of the platform. It's especially useful for new team members because they have structured training to learn the syntax and understand how formulas should be set up to build the most efficient models. It's also very useful for building different scenarios for different users while keeping everything controlled through user permissions. On top of that the Admin MCP has been very helpful for analysis in Claude and for documenting changes and results for stakeholders.

Cons

One challenge we ran into was integration timeout limits which made it harder to keep importing different datasets. That said we worked with the team to find solutions and they've been very responsive to our feedback and continue improving the platform. There are still some workarounds needed for formulas that have to change across different months but the team has already released meaningful improvements based on what users have shared. Over time our team has also gotten better at learning the platform's best practices.

Pros

Abacum works really well for financial planning and analysis especially when it comes to sharing financial information with department heads. The spaces and role-based access controls are particularly useful because they let us give access only to the people who need to see data relevant to their team or department. During the initial setup, we also had help from two team members who were usually available when needed and that made getting started much more manageable even with the steep learning curve.

Cons

The Xero sync can be unreliable and often needs several tries before it finally works. Model building also gets complicated pretty quickly and that part of the platform comes with a fairly steep learning curve. On top of that using dimensions across models, spaces or scenarios can become very complex to manage.

Pros

Recreating business logic in it is pretty easy and putting it into practice doesn't take much effort.

Cons

A few areas of the app can feel somewhat tedious especially when the same updates have to be made across multiple variables.
