Abacum has completely changed the way our finance team operates. With smooth integrations across the rest of our tech stack, it has become the single source of truth for FP&A. We can handle detailed scenario planning, board-ready management reporting, real time variance analysis and thorough business reviews without needing a large team. Its flexible sophisticated data model also gives us a very granular view of business drivers which helps us plan ahead with much more confidence.

Cons

Because the platform is so powerful and flexible, there is a bit of a learning curve especially when it comes to building more complex models. Still the support and onboarding teams are very responsive and helpful which makes the ramp-up process much faster.

Right from the implementation phase, the team handled the setup and got everything running for me. They were a very helpful group throughout the process.

Cons

With everything moving toward AI, I'd ideally like to see more enhancements that make the product even more plug and play. Even so this tool is still much better than the others I evaluated.

It is simple to use not only for Finance but for the wider teams as well. The ongoing support from the account management team and product team has also been consistently strong. It is helping our company scale by combining very detailed financial statements with business inputs in one place. On top of that the platform lets us build dashboards that help key decision-makers review KPIs live and collaborate directly with team members and Finance.

There's a small learning period because the platform is so powerful and adaptable particularly when constructing intricate models. However their support and setup teams are very quick to reply and do a great job helping you get up to speed faster.

Using it has not been a hassle and the implementation process was handled in a practical, user friendly way. On top of that the team's customer-centric approach really stands out and makes the whole experience feel well supported.

The only limitation I have noticed is that non-API integrations only provide point-in-time information. That said this is fairly expected and it should improve as it expands its range of ERP partnerships.

After 6 months of using it the time we spend on manual reporting and building reports has dropped to a small fraction of what it used to be. It does a really good job of connecting actuals with forecasts, letting us drill all the way down to ledger and transaction-level details and pulling in multiple data sources for planning and analysis. The implementation team was excellent and had us fully up and running in just 4 weeks which even allowed us to complete our full budget planning in the platform. Whenever more complex situations came up, our customer success manager and support team were very helpful in guiding us toward the best setup or a workable solution. They're also very open to product feedback and willing to add feature requests to the roadmap. Overall it has helped us create better plans, with more detail and stronger data, than we were ever able to do with spreadsheets.

Honestly nothing major to call out. Any time we have run into product limitations, the team has been very proactive about offering workarounds or considering improvements for the roadmap.

Customer support has been exceptional and the platform has been simple to manage, implement and roll out. It's a very flexible tool that makes reporting, modeling and similar tasks easy to build. I also like how often the team updates the software, asks for user feedback and keeps introducing new features. On top of that their IT Academy offers plenty of detailed guidance and best-practice materials.

It would be more useful if budgeting and forecasting could combine formulas with manual inputs since at the moment it has to be one or the other.

So many things! It's simple enough for colleagues outside finance to learn, yet powerful enough for any task our finance group requires. Great links to our other systems through its API. Wonderful support. The company is always rolling out new features and enhancements.

Honestly we've had no problems. If anything because we're a charity, we just had a couple of unique points to resolve since our perspective differs from a standard company. Their setup team was fantastic in helping us sort that out and they've already made a few tweaks based on what we required.

The platform looks user friendly while still being very powerful and that balance is not easy for most tools to achieve. It has helped us open up access to financial data across the company and strengthened internal planning in a real way. Their team is responsive and genuinely customer-focused but honestly one of the best parts is that you do not need to rely on them much because the product is so user friendly. Even for those of us who are more focused on business KPIs than formal data management training, it has been very approachable and useful.

We spent a lot of time evaluating FP&A platforms because, as a smaller organization, this was a major decision for us. After all that diligence, we can confidently say we do not have a single regret. We absolutely made the right choice.
