One of the biggest advantages is that it connects directly with Vista by Viewpoint which is something we're currently in the process of enabling. That integration gives us the ability to provide much more detailed billing to our customers which has been really valuable.
Cons
Software isn't the most simple to work with and the interface could definitely use some updates to make it more user-friendly.

The software clearly has some potential but after two years of using TW at my company and with my employer having used it for more than 10 years, I still haven't seen any of the user-friendly recommendations I've made actually implemented.
Cons
After spending a lot of time with TW, it's frustrating that "real time" doesn't really feel real time at all. They really need actual users testing the app and software so they can point out where updates and changes are needed, assuming those issues haven't already been sent in through support tickets. A field worker recently tried the new app and said, "it's so complicated now, why did they even change it?" That pretty much sums it up. I've submitted plenty of suggestions myself and not only do they seem to have been ignored but they even removed the "remember me" login feature. Seriously, why take away something that was actually helpful and user-friendly? It makes it seem like the developers are not relying on real user input when making decisions. If they would actually listen to customer recommendations, this software could be genuinely useful instead of such a headache. Sadly, I don't expect my employer to switch systems anytime soon but I'll definitely be looking into other options.

It's been really useful for locating tools, tracking their movement and keeping up with tool and equipment needs both across job sites and internally for our carpentry team.
Cons
Some parts of the functionality involve lengthy setup steps but once everything is configured, it's simple to maintain and use.

Pros
From a finance perspective, one of the biggest benefits is being able to assign costs to tools, equipment, materials and consumables, then apply those job costs directly to our projects. Another standout advantage is the overall ability to track tools as they move from inventory locations out to job sites.
Cons
Over the years, we've run into a few minor issues in the Service Area and with Transfers related to units of measure and those took a while to get sorted out. Other than that, there really isn't much to complain about. The one downside has been the billing changes tied to the Cloud since the costs have gradually increased.

Watching this product evolve over the past 12 years has been impressive for me. The move to the cloud made a big difference, the mobile app added a lot of convenience and I found the training offered along the way very valuable.
Cons
Billing data export tool feels outdated. It really needs an update so cost centers can be selected in bulk instead of having to click through each one individually.

Keeping everything organized is really built into the way this software works which has helped a lot with how we track items and manage the process overall. The rollup reports are especially useful and the mobile access has noticeably improved our efficiency when checking things in and out.
Cons
I'd still like to see automated email reports so people can clearly see and take responsibility for, how many tools their departments have at any given time. More customized reporting options would also be helpful and I'd definitely appreciate having a "remember me" option on the login screen.

Using this has been very easy and the customer service has been fantastic. Whenever I call, I always reach a real person who is pleasant and genuinely helpful. It's been an excellent way to keep track of everything, from our vehicles and service records to our tools and recalls.
Cons

One thing I really appreciate is how many useful actions are available just by right-clicking in the tool. It also gives me the flexibility to define nearly all of the metadata I want to work with which makes it very customizable.
Cons
A downside is that there's no support for controlling record numbering like Category ID, tool ID, Employee ID and similar fields. It would also help if the software could warn you when a number already exists. On top of that, there are no workflow capabilities or IFTTT-style automations and synchronization can be delayed when I wish it were much closer to real time.

Keeping assets organized in a clear structure is a real advantage because it makes everything much simpler to manage and maintain. We also have dedicated staff who do a good job of keeping the inventory properly structured.
Cons
One area that could be better is integration and collaboration with other products. That said we do have dedicated people in place who help keep the inventory structured and organized.

Although I wasn't personally part of the integration, I was told it went very smoothly. Before ToolWatch, I didn't have a scanner in place and I've seen how this has made tracking tools much simpler and more efficient.
Cons
My only complaint is that the software occasionally freezes which slows everything down while we wait for it to start responding again.

One thing that works really well for me is the reporting feature. Whatever information I need is available fast and I find it presented in a clean, organized report that's easy to follow.
Cons
My issue is that they've packed in a lot of extra features and charge us for them even though we only need the software to track tools in and out and generate reports. We already use other programs for everything else so it would make much more sense if those added features were optional.

Honestly I don't have anything positive to say about this app and I really wish we could switch back to Alltrak.
Cons
When our admin reached out for help with the problems we were dealing with in the app, the Tool Watch support team just blamed us instead of addressing the issues and didn't offer any help whatsoever.

In my experience, the system is very easy even for first-time users. I find the tool lookup works really well for finding items in our inventory and when a barcode is missing, being able to search by description or serial number is especially helpful.
Cons
Reporting feature could use more flexibility. I'd like to see more customization options, along with the ability to save reports that have already been run.
