Trying to use this system has been incredibly frustrating. I can't type notes in a retired tool and it won't let me set an inspection to recur every two or three years. The "certification" recurrence doesn't work properly either. Tools often won't delete unless I try multiple times and reboot a couple of times and even service events refuse to delete. The work order interface is a mess, with the only workaround being to generate a work order from the tool and even that only kind of works. The purchasing/receiving menu under "Lists" is also broken. I set up a 3000-mile PM on a vehicle, created a work order for the last PM, then reset the miles to a number higher than what should trigger PM and still got no service message. The program crashes a lot and one of the worst crashes happened when I was almost done with a large transfer, it locked up my computer and threw a "fatal error" message. I've also had it freeze while editing tasks in the service tab of the tool model. When I edited the condition of a quantity tool, it asked if I wanted to edit all tools in that category. After selecting "yes," it warned that the quantity would reset to zero but then it didn't reset the quantity or update the status. On top of that, once a transfer or work order is processed, there's no way to modify it. The transfer history report doesn't even match what is currently transferred to an employee. Adding cost to a tool is another headache because the price only registers under "replacement value" while "retail" doesn't count as a value at all. Between the major crashes and the fact that it shut down during transfers more than once, this program has been a disaster.

The software clearly has some potential but after two years of using TW at my company and with my employer having used it for more than 10 years, I still haven't seen any of the user-friendly recommendations I've made actually implemented.

After spending a lot of time with TW, it's frustrating that "real time" doesn't really feel real time at all. They really need actual users testing the app and software so they can point out where updates and changes are needed, assuming those issues haven't already been sent in through support tickets. A field worker recently tried the new app and said, "it's so complicated now, why did they even change it?" That pretty much sums it up. I've submitted plenty of suggestions myself and not only do they seem to have been ignored but they even removed the "remember me" login feature. Seriously, why take away something that was actually helpful and user-friendly? It makes it seem like the developers are not relying on real user input when making decisions. If they would actually listen to customer recommendations, this software could be genuinely useful instead of such a headache. Sadly, I don't expect my employer to switch systems anytime soon but I'll definitely be looking into other options.

After using software in this field for around 30 years, I can say this is one of the more polished tool tracking systems I've worked with. I found the current Enterprise version easy to set up and it didn't take much effort for me to train others because the interface is very user-friendly. The feature I rely on most is the asset tracking along with the location reports. It has made managing a large inventory of tools, furniture and equipment much more manageable for me. Whenever I need to, I can generate a report showing all of our equipment and where it is located and that helps me produce accurate equipment billing.
Cons
My only real complaint has been the data loss that happened over the years during software updates and data migrations. I've lost quite a bit of information especially purchase dates and purchase costs for items that had already been entered into the system. It's not a major issue overall but it is frustrating when I look up an item and expect to see what it cost or when it was purchased, only to find those fields blank. Other than that, this is my only con.
