“Adaptable and professional
Pros
I really like how flexible the software is in adapting to different situations. It can easily adjust to meet various needs, making it suitable for a wide range of tasks. Also, I find it very easy to use. The design allows me to move through the software without any difficulty, making my interaction with it smooth and simple. Overall, the combination of adaptability and user-friendly navigation really enhances my experience with the software.
Cons
Some of the terms can be confusing, either in error messages or in the names of fields, which I find a bit misleading at times.

“My experiece with Rootstock
Pros
My experience with Rootstock has been of the simplest ERP system to implement and go live with. It provides extensive features that are very accessible which made my transition smooth and efficient. The reporting features are exceptional and provide valuable insights for my decision-making process. Also, the platinum support alongside the supportive Rootstock community has been remarkable, ensuring that any challenges I face are addressed promptly.
Cons
Installing Rootstock, it requires a significant level of commitment and a deep understanding from the business side right from the start. Without thorough preparation and dedication, the implementation can become quite difficult. However, this is something that all ERP systems tend to demand and it is not something specific to Rootstock alone.

Pros
I value the support that comes with the software. While it is easy to use, there are moments when I need assistance, and the customer support is always prompt and comprehensive making it simple to understand.
Cons

“Exceptional flexibille
Pros
What I love most about Rootstock Manufacturing ERP is that it is built on the Salesforce platform which leverages Salesforce's strengths and scalability. Rootstock provides a seamless and integrated view across all business processes including customer management, manufacturing, supply chain operations, and everything in between. By utilizing Salesforce's cloud infrastructure, Rootstock ERP scales effectively with the increasing demands of my business, eliminating the necessity for system migration. Also, the powerful Salesforce ecosystem enhances security and reliability ensuring that my business operations run smoothly and efficiently at all times.
Cons
Rootstock's ability to be highly customizable is a real advantage when trying to meet specific business requirements, but it does mean that both internal and external resources are heavily needed during implementation. Its flexibility means each customization requires careful planning, coordination, and sometimes even additional programming, which makes it very resource-intensive. Also, the successful deployment of such a customizable system relies on the organization's readiness to adapt to changes. This requires a workplace culture that is open to new workflows and continuous process improvement. This ongoing investment in change management and resources can create difficulties, especially in environments that are resistant to change or slow to adopt. So while the adaptability of Rootstock ERP is valuable, it requires a solid commitment to managing and investing in those changes.

“Rootstock is awsome!!
Pros
The integration of Rootstock with Salesforce makes customization easy for anyone with Salesforce Admin experience. Almost all of our business practices are now consolidated into a single system. We are able to provide our users with information and data that were previously inaccessible. Rootforms serves as an excellent and smooth printing solution. The customer support is very helpful although at times the significant time zone differences can impact response times in some cases.
Cons
Due to our specific requirements, we needed much more customization with Rootstock than we had originally anticipated. Our go-live date ended up being delayed twice, and even after deployment, we had dozens of issues due to these customizations. Almost every time one of our outstanding issues was fixed, we were told to upgrade to a newer version, which then brought about new problems with it.

“The integral role of rootstock in shaping our digital future
Pros
Rootstock Manufacturing ERP is built directly within Salesforce, which means it integrates with its platform and works smoothly alongside it. It includes several key tools such as ERP for managing overall business processes, MRP for overseeing manufacturing and resource planning, and a Capacity Planning Workbench to help manage production capacities efficiently. This combination of features makes it a comprehensive solution for handling various business operations in one unified system.
Cons
I find that the estimating capabilities, financial statements, and user interface are somewhat limited in this system.

“Flexible ERP that is simple to set up and customize
Pros
It functions as a full-featured ERP designed for mid-tier manufacturers and distributors. Since we are already utilizing Salesforce, we were able to leverage our existing administrative and technical staff for the implementation and ongoing support of the application. Similar to other Salesforce applications, it is easy to customize certain aspects, such as adding additional fields to existing objects, and the native Salesforce reporting tools are quite effective.
Cons
Performance tends to slow down in certain areas. While this is something that happens with many Salesforce applications, I think this one could be optimized further. Since there is a smaller user base, it is difficult to simply search for a solution online when an issue arises, unlike with more established ERPs like SAP, Oracle, or Netsuite. There are also not many implementation partners, though we did manage to find a good one. There should be more built-in reporting options.

“A highly adaptable ERP
Pros
It is adaptable and does not require any customization as I can find solutions for all my business options. Their training portal is exceptionally well structured, and they assist with any issues very quickly through their community page once a ticket is submitted. It significantly influences my daily workload as it has the capability to clone numerous records whenever similar ones need to be created.
Cons
I have faced some difficulties managing app authorizations for user profiles, though I do not think this is due to Rootstock itself. It seems more related to Salesforce's structure, especially considering how many specialized fields exist in this system because of the nature of the program.

Pros
I like some of its features specifically designed for inventory management. These features really stand out because they are effective in helping me keep track of inventory with great precision and efficiency.
Cons
The accounting and finance modules have been steadily improving, with Rootstock putting in significant effort to enhance them, but these areas were clearly not prioritized during the initial development of the ERP. That said, the progress they are making is quite noticeable. I find it surprising that there are no standard financial reports available, but Rootstock is working on that as well.

Pros
The software is highly accessible and easy. Most features that were previously considered "missing" in Rootstock have already been supplemented through partnerships with other companies to bridge the gap which I find really impressive.

“ERP software you can customize
Pros
The fact that it is integrated with Salesforce makes it a remarkably customizable product. Rather than needing to modify my business processes to align with the software, I can adjust my software to better fit my business processes. This is indeed a very powerful capability.
Cons
The initial setup can feel overwhelming. Since the system is so customizable, it does require a significant investment of time to configure. Thankfully, because it is built on Salesforce, the tools available to help with customization are relatively easy to learn.

“Strong inventory, weak financials
Pros
From an inventory and manufacturing standpoint, it really delivers. It offers a huge amount of valuable data and well-built processes and it stands out as a top choice for inventory control especially for manufacturing-focused companies.
Cons
Where it falls short is in the accounting modules and external financial reporting which are very weak. Having multiple customer masters creates confusion and not being able to send AR statements on time or add more than one email recipient for customer invoices is a real problem. On top of that, proper financial statements can't really be created directly in the system so everything has to be exported to Excel which wastes time and resources. Even a small GL change means another export and more Excel work just to handle internal and external compliant reporting.

Pros
Running this cloud-based system has been a very positive experience. The UI is user-friendly, the support team is responsive and helpful and the overall experience with the software has been good. It's also a big advantage that it supports Asian languages which allows users in Japan to work in their native language.
Cons
There is one minor browser-related issue. Lightning Experience does not always work properly with Mac OS Safari version 13 but this is not really a system problem since it happens because Safari aggressively blocks pop-up windows. In practice, Safari is better used with Classic Mode which is actually preferable for admin users, while Chrome and Firefox work better with Lightning Experience. Windows users should generally not run into this problem.

Pros
There's a lot you can accomplish with it. From what I've seen, most requests can be done, it really comes down to who you're working with and how much time is needed to get it in place. The ability to customize the system to a company's specific needs also keeps improving which makes the platform feel more and more flexible over time.

Pros
Across the board, we use every module and their MRP system has been unmatched for us. Having Salesforce Reporting available means we can dig into all of our production, costing and inventory data whenever we need it. Their support team continues to impress us because they truly understand manufacturing and the mobile integration is the next area we're excited to expand into.

“Fantastic Salesforce integration
Pros
Right from the start, it worked smoothly with Salesforce which made implementation much less painful than expected. We ran into very few issues and whenever something did come up, Rootstock's support team handled it quickly. Their support has honestly been outstanding and everyone we've worked with has been helpful and pleasant. When a custom-built option wasn't financially realistic for us, they helped us come up with a workaround that delivered the same result. On the admin side, I also train new employees on all of our systems and Rootstock has been one of the simplest platforms to teach. The way the Site Map is organized from top to bottom around each object's process makes a big difference and really helps people learn it faster.
Cons
any custom fields we need can only be added under a Custom tab for each object. It would be much more useful if there were more flexibility to place those custom fields in the sections where they make the most sense.

“flexible cloud ERP with manufacturing expertise
Pros
Being cloud-based, it is scalable and flexible which has worked well for our needs. The implementation was fairly simple and the fact that it runs on the Force.com platform is a big plus since there's a large user community and plenty of apps available to support specific business requirements. Another thing that really adds value is their team itself, they bring real manufacturing knowledge to the table and come across as manufacturing experts, not just a typical software vendor.
Cons
It uses a lot of data and Salesforce data storage can get expensive. At the time we rolled out Rootstock, their Financials module wasn't available so we ended up going with FinancialForce instead. While the integration with FinancialForce works well enough, it's still a costly add-on. I'd prefer to be on Rootstock's own Financials now but I'm not interested in taking on another implementation project at this point.

“Powerful cloud platform fit
Pros
Customer support has been outstanding. One of the biggest reasons we chose this product was how tightly it works within the Force.com platform and it has delivered well on that. Being a cloud-based, web-based application is another big plus. We also appreciate how much flexibility it gives us to tailor the system, whether that's through views, reports, custom fields, objects, workflows and more. Overall it's a very powerful and comprehensive system.
Cons
The documentation has gotten better but it still falls short in some areas. That makes onboarding new users less efficient and less effective and it also slows down experienced users when they need to look up answers or troubleshoot issues. The content itself and the way it's organized could both use improvement. That said moving the documentation resources over to the community platform has been helpful and feels like a step in the right direction.

“Great ERP for growing manufacturing
Pros
By pairing Rootstock with FinancialForce.com, we ended up with a full ERP setup that can grow with us and be adjusted as our needs change. Even though it was originally built more as an MRP system, we've been able to tailor it with Rootstock so it works well for our job-shop environment. Once you really understand the project environment, it becomes a very powerful tool for running the business. Our process is much more organized now, we can take a won Salesforce Opportunity and turn it directly into a Sales Order and Work Order without entering everything twice. From there, we can purchase and issue materials to the job, build and print the shop router and track labor along with direct and indirect costs.
Cons
One of the biggest frustrations is the locked-down user interface. Rootstock built most of its pages in Visualforce which creates some useful functionality but inside a managed package it also really limits how much end users can customize the pages. There's quite a bit of clutter from fields that don't apply to our business and we can't remove or rearrange those coded Visualforce pages. Some objects can be overridden but doing that takes a lot of effort and the implementation can feel buggy, including unexpected errors that have to be worked through with Rootstock Support. That said Rootstock has clearly invested more in customer satisfaction over the past few years and it shows. They deserve credit for listening to customer feedback and making positive improvements. Another gap is that PO requisitions for service items still aren't available even though they've been on the roadmap for some time and there's still no target date. Their newer mobile app, RootScan, is meant to handle Rootstock transactions on mobile devices but it comes with a pretty steep premium price and I don't think that should be an added premium feature. The integration between Rootstock and FinancialForce also has room to improve. Rootstock tracks COGS correctly on its side, broken out into Material, Labor and Other Costs the way we want but it only sends a single combined COGS amount into FinancialForce. Because of that, our financial statements can't be presented in the breakdown we're used to. Update: Rootstock now offers a distribution feature that fixed this issue for us although we had to pay extra for it. Hardened objects are another real limitation when it comes to Salesforce customization. They restrict our ability to use standard workflow automation, inline edits in list views and other common features. A lot of this comes back to the complexity of Rootstock's pages and code. We would be able to do a lot more with Rootstock if the objects our end users rely on were not hardened.

“Clear manufacturing visibility
Pros
From a manufacturing and supply chain perspective, it feels like a full ERP with outstanding functionality. The visibility across the system is impressive, with deep reporting and strong search tools that bring a lot of key information together on one screen. It's also highly customizable through the Salesforce platform and the broad network of third-party consultants, partners, add-ons and other Salesforce-related resources is a big advantage. Customer service has also improved noticeably over the past couple of years.
Cons
Because it is built on Salesforce, it definitely gains a lot from that integration and platform but Salesforce data costs can become expensive for larger enterprises. The interface can also feel a bit unuser-friendly for some users so strong end-user training during the pilot and launch phase is really important to make sure people fully understand how to use all the functions.

Pros
Over the past three years, our business model changed several times and that could have made implementation very difficult. Roger Brown and Dan Ramey from the Implementation Services Team worked closely with us to build a very lightweight implementation approach which turned out to be essential for our success. Because our business kept evolving, we needed a system that could adapt fast and Rootstock handled those changes quickly and efficiently. The implementation team was also highly knowledgeable, responded fast and resolved issues without delay. That combination made it possible for us to reconfigure our business model multiple times while keeping costs low and timelines short.

“broken promises
Pros
There honestly wasn't anything positive in our experience with it. The system feels buggy and the team came across as uninformed and unhelpful.
Cons
It sells itself very well to manufacturers like us, with polished demos and promises that they'll fix operational issues but the reality was completely different. The software turned out to be outdated and awkward to use and the implementation team was nowhere near capable enough. A project that was supposed to take only a few months dragged on for more than eight months and even then less than half of the setup was completed. Before signing, I had spoken with one of their existing customers who had been on the platform for a few years. They told me it was only okay and said they had to resolve some issues on their own because Rootstock's team couldn't handle certain functional requirements. Looking back, I should have taken that as a warning and walked away. Instead, we dealt with one undelivered promise after another. Training and implementation sessions were full of mistakes and the same problems kept showing up from one session to the next without ever being fixed. We also submitted an item list that sat untouched for over a month because, apparently, only a technical person could upload it yet no one could find time to do it. Eventually, we terminated the contract because they failed to provide the software and implementation they had committed to. After that, I warned a friend of mine who runs a mid-sized manufacturer in New York and told him exactly what had happened to us. He still chose to move forward with Rootstock and now, eight months later, he has called me saying the exact same thing is happening to them and that they also want out of the contract. That is the reason I'm writing this review. Stay away from this company and choose another option. There are far better systems available, no matter what Salesforce may tell you.

“Powerful cloud ERP flexibility
Pros
This tool does a very effective job of helping us plan stock products, whether they're purchased items or manufactured goods. The shop floor management tools give us real-time visibility into exactly where products are in the manufacturing process which has been very valuable. Its project functionality also helps us clearly separate stock items from custom, made-to-order products. On top of that, being built on the Salesforce platform adds a huge amount of flexibility through tools like Mobile, Communities, reports and dashboards, Service Cloud, App Exchange, Einstein AI and Chatter. Altogether, it feels like a forward-looking ERP system and it's encouraging to see the company continually improving the product and paying attention to customer feedback.
Cons
Because we operate as a high-volume manufacturer with more than 1,200 work orders active on the shop floor at once, around 300 boxes shipped each day and roughly 30,000 SKUs, we do run into some limitations from time to time. Certain screens seem better suited to lower data volumes and some bulk processes handled through APEX can be a bit slower than what we'd expect from an on-premise system. A few VisualForce pages and objects also restrict how much we can customize page layouts and the more complex validation rules inside the managed package can make it harder to build workflow rules and quickly import data through API connections. That said these feel like reasonable tradeoffs considering the advantages of being fully cloud-based and the Rootstock support team is usually very willing to work with us on improvements that are specific to our business.

“Too many screens for inventory
Pros
The RMA screen includes a notes section and the serial number tracking is useful.
Cons
It's frustrating that I have to enter a part number and then jump through Engineering Item Master, Inventory and Inventory Quantities just to see what's actually on the shelf. For RMAs something that used to take one screen now takes three.

“Cloud access from anywhere
Pros
Having it in the cloud is a big plus since I can get to it from anywhere.
Cons
It can be buggy at times and it also runs pretty slowly so getting through tasks takes some patience. I'm not sure whether that comes from Salesforce itself or from Rootstock's coding.

“Fast support and reliable uptime
Pros
Ticket responses come back very quickly and the system is simple to use with very little downtime. Finding information is quick and updating POs is simple as well.
Cons
I'd still like to see fewer clicks required to complete processing tasks and the dashboards could use some improvement.

“configurable and practical setup
Pros
A lot can be handled through configuration settings so there's really no need for heavy customization.
Cons
It feels more tailored to manufacturing companies and doesn't naturally support service-based businesses. Also, quite a few functions aren't exposed through APIs which makes connecting other systems to Rootstock more difficult.

“stellar rollout
Pros
Having all the modules included in one complete ERP package was a big advantage for us. On top of that, the setup team did an excellent job guiding us through the installation and go-live stages which made the whole process much more manageable.
Cons
It records information like demand, addresses and sales orders exactly as they are entered at that moment. When changes are made later, those updates do not always flow through the entire system automatically so you often have to enter the information again for the changes to take effect.

“Costly customizations and delays
Pros
I genuinely appreciate how patient the development and implementation team has been throughout the process.
Cons
Getting this software up and running has required far more customization than expected and every added customization comes with a hefty price tag. That has pushed the project back considerably. Our team believed the sales side fully understood the complexity of running a completely remote business with no warehouse and no physical storefront and we were assured the product could handle all of our needs. In reality, it has not delivered on those expectations.

“Cloud-built ERP done right
Pros
Right away, it stood out to me as a very comprehensive ERP system built natively in the cloud on the Force.com platform. That alone was compelling but what really sealed it for me was knowing the product was conceived, designed and developed by one of the most experienced and highly respected teams in the ERP industry. Another big advantage is that applications on the Force.com platform can be expanded through thousands of enterprise and small business apps available on the AppExchange.
Cons
Honestly it's hard to point to any real downsides with it especially considering they were an early pioneer in the multi-tenant SaaS ERP market. The product feels carefully planned and very well engineered.

“good cloud manufacturing
Pros
Few vendors combine manufacturing expertise and software know-how this well. Rootstock's engineers and consultants clearly understand both the operational side of manufacturing and the technology behind it. By taking full advantage of the Salesforce platform and pairing it with FinancialForce, Rootstock brings the back office into the Salesforce ecosystem with a feature set that feels far beyond anything lightweight. Alongside our own custom apps built natively on Salesforce, it has given us the ability to run our complete end-to-end enterprise solution in the cloud. Inventory, Purchasing and MRP are all critical to our success and Rootstock ties them together in a way that feels cohesive and reliable. This is not a stripped-down manufacturing tool, it's a true manufacturing system delivered in the cloud. For a space that has long been dominated by on-premise software, Rootstock is proving that the cloud can absolutely compete for the Salesforce community.
Cons
Being Rootstock's first Force.com customer gave us a close look at the depth of expertise across their entire organization, not only from the founders but also from the broader team handling development, implementation, support and consulting. One of the most impressive parts of the experience was getting a completely new financial system in place, with the kind of powerful functionality that used to come only from legacy, on-premise vendors, in just five months from pilot to go-live. Of course, timelines will differ depending on the implementation but with Rootstock you're getting more than just software for growth, you're also getting a team that actively helps you reach each milestone. The one issue we dealt with early on was their fast release cadence, though that has improved over time. Now they follow the same three-releases-per-year rhythm as Salesforce which has been a very welcome change.
