excellent planning workspaces

Pros

Among the planning tools I've worked with this is definitely one of the best! It's simple to use, the planner workspaces are simple to customize and I can check data while I'm on the go. When I need to dig deeper I also have the option to open everything in Excel for more detailed analysis.

Cons

At the moment the AI capabilities still aren't where I'd want them to be and that's disappointing. That said I did see the use cases presented at Sapphire that are on the roadmap and I'm really excited about what's coming next.

Cuts down on time

Pros

Using this software I was able to coordinate demand, supply and inventory planning across different teams. Most of my work centered on reviewing planning runs, checking gaps between forecasts and actual results and validating changes made to demand and supply planning parameters. One capability I really appreciated was how quickly the system recalculates updated scenario parameters. During planning reviews that meant I could work with the most current demand or supply data and immediately understand the effect on overall inventory calculations.

Cons

Sometimes the planning process gets quite complex because of the number of planning models involved and the different stakeholders contributing to it. There is also some difficulty at the beginning especially when trying to understand how planning areas connect with data inputs. Other than that troubleshooting planning discrepancies can require digging through several layers of configuration and input data. When results do not match expectations it can take time to figure out whether the issue comes from the data, the planning logic or the models themselves.

flexible to use

Pros

Right away the interface feels really user friendly and the flexibility each user gets is something I value a lot. It barely requires IT support which makes daily work much simpler. Another thing I really appreciate is how clearly it lets us view the entire end to end supply chain process.

Cons

One challenge is keeping up with all the new functions and actually implementing them properly. Job management and log handling can also be hard to work with especially when trying to pull the right insights from them.

costly and overly complex setup

Pros

Having this software alongside an existing S/4 setup helps keep integration aligned from both the data and system architecture side. It also offers plenty of functions for maintaining safety stock and some of the analytics capability is particularly strong.

Cons

At the same time it is far too complicated for end users with things like master data types, attributes, key figures and planning areas making it hard to understand. Because of that moving a project forward into production with client users is often challenging not just for SEs but even for consultants. Also the price is very high.

all in one!

Pros

Bringing demand, supply, inventory and S&OP planning together in a single platform is the part I value most about this software. It gives much better visibility across the supply chain and helps teams make quicker, data driven decisions. The Excel integration is also very practical and the scenario planning capabilities are especially helpful in planning daily work.

Cons

A downside is that the onboarding and setup can be fairly complex and usually require a lot of training. Some functions are not very accessible for new users and performance can slow down when handling large datasets or highly detailed planning models.

Costly licenses

Pros

Working in an Excel style environment is a real plus for us. It lets us load historical data into a familiar spreadsheet like layout which makes the information much easier to read and interpret in a practical and realistic way.

Cons

The drawback is the licensing model. Almost every function whether it's supply planning, demand planning or running the demand optimizer, requires separate licenses and the cost adds up quickly. Because of that it's not really a good fit for smaller businesses.

Long term experience

Pros

After 10 years of using and applying this software, the configurability is still one of the biggest strengths to me. It gives users the ability to handle a lot of their own needs instead of having to depend on a planning book being built and handed over to them.

Cons

An area that still feels challenging is analytics since designing and configuring it the way you want can be difficult at times. The tool has improved a lot over the years but there is still more progress needed. I'm hoping Joule helps simplify that process and makes it much more user friendly for the end user.

strong planning and integration

Pros

Right away the biggest advantage is how well this works as an integrated platform. The connection with S/4HANA and SCC feels very tight which helps everything stay aligned. Finite heuristics and RTI perform well and order based planning is especially effective. That said it would be even better with more support for a flexible product hierarchy.

Cons

There are still some gaps especially for CPG companies such as support for versioning. More tools for batch monitoring are also needed. Joule should really be available across all parts of the application as a standard feature instead of being offered as a paid service. A more flexible product hierarchy would be a welcome improvement and having simulation on job runs to detect missing master data would be very useful.

User friendly

Pros

Does a really good job with demand forecasting by using AI along with statistical and regression models and that has been very valuable for improving and adapting our supply chain. The AI driven interface is also very user friendly which makes it easier to work with daily. Another thing I appreciate is how it takes changing conditions into account such as market shifts and geographic factors so our planning ends up being much more informed.

Cons

The biggest concern for me is still the pricing especially when it comes to proving the ROI of the software. I've also felt for a while that it could do more from a sales oriented perspective.

efficient and accurate planning

Pros

One thing that stands out in this software is the real time visibility it brings to supply chain planning. Having demand, supply and inventory connected in one place makes the planning process more accurate and efficient. The analytics and forecasting tools are quite capable and the scenario planning feature is especially useful when decisions need to be made under uncertain conditions. It also works well with other SAP products which makes it a strong fit for enterprise level operations.

Cons

Getting started with this software can be challenging because it somewhat difficult to figure out especially for new users. The initial setup and configuration take time and can be quite complex. Proper training is also necessary to take full advantage of everything the platform offers and the pricing may be on the higher side for smaller organizations.

complex rollout and difficult

Pros

Having real time data and planning in a single platform is a big advantage with this software. It supports more accurate demand forecasting, gives better visibility across the supply chain and helps teams make decisions faster. Its connection with other SAP products along with the familiar Excel based interface, makes collaboration more efficient and helps organizations stay flexible when demand or supply conditions shift.

Cons

Setting it up and getting it running can take a lot of time and effort especially for companies that have not worked with this tool before. There is also some difficulty for new users trying to understand the more advanced planning capabilities. On top of that performance may slow down when handling very large datasets and customizing some features to specific business requirements often needs extra work and technical expertise.

made things manageable

Pros

Working with this software has made demand estimation and forecasting much more manageable by using historical data effectively. It cuts down a lot of the manual effort on my side and the forecasts come out accurate, structured and more dependable than before. The forecasting capabilities are especially strong and the integration with other SAP modules is a big plus since it fits well into an existing SAP environment.

Cons

Getting everything set up at the beginning is fairly complex.

reliable supply visibility

Pros

One of the most useful things about SAP it is how reliably it estimates weeks of supply. That insight makes it much easier to spot which items are moving quickly based on current stock levels. When the weeks of supply are low for a product it usually signals strong sales so we can quickly identify popular items and review inventory levels with more confidence. That kind of accuracy is a big help in logistics planning because it gives us a better read on customer demand and supports smarter decisions around order timing whether that means speeding up shipments for fast moving products or rethinking inventory plans for items that are not performing as well. The visibility it gives into sales trends helps us stay proactive and responsive which is essential for running an efficient supply chain.

Cons

An issue with it is that it does not always capture or present information about returns or theft very accurately. Because of that we often end up building extra filters just to isolate the affected items which adds unnecessary effort. On top of that some products can show negative numbers but the system does not clearly separate what was actually sold from what was returned especially when an item is otherwise doing well. That missing level of detail makes it harder to monitor inventory closely and adjust our strategy the way we need to.

clean interface on desktop

Pros

Right away the interface feels clear and comfortable to use. Navigating through the software on a laptop or desktop is easy and that really helps. Since I have some eye issues the way everything appears on a larger screen is a big advantage for me and easily one of the best parts of using it.

Cons

The least helpful part comes up when I have to open it on my phone. In mobile view the tiles get stacked and that layout just doesn't feel user friendly enough for me.

Planning process in one place

Pros

It brings every planning process into one real time platform and that is the biggest advantage for me! It gives much clearer visibility across the full supply chain which helps connect demand, supply and financial planning much better. The analytics and forecasting tools are also very useful for making better decisions and the interface feels logical enough to make teamwork and collaboration across departments more efficient.

Cons

Can be fairly complex to get it up and running especially for companies that do not already have solid SAP knowledge in house. New users may also struggle at first which can slow adoption. Other than that the customization capabilities are powerful but can still feel somewhat restrictive or take a lot of effort to tailor to specific business requirements. Performance may also dip at times when handling very large datasets and the total cost for onboarding and ongoing maintenance can be quite high.

Valuable tool

Pros

Right away this feels valuable because it connects really well with other SAP products and brings planning activities together in one platform. Having real time visibility into data and solid scenario planning tools makes decisions quicker and usually more accurate. The Excel based interface is another plus since it helps users get comfortable with the system without needing a lot of training. Apart from this it comes across as flexible and scalable so companies can adapt it to fit their supply chain and forecasting requirements.

Cons

Starting off with the software can be challenging because the setup and configuration are fairly complex. Onboarding tends to take a while and usually calls for specialized knowledge or help from outside consultants. It can also slow down when handling large datasets particularly when using the Excel add ins. Another frustration is that the interface is not always very accessible and resolving issues can be tough without solid expertise.

powerful integrations

Pros

Using this tool feels especially valuable when it's connected to the wider SAP landscape particularly S/4HANA. That integration brings everything into a shared data model which helps remove the usual gaps between sales, operations and finance. A lot of planners also appreciate the Excel based interface because it keeps the experience familiar for analyzing and adjusting data while still maintaining the security and single source of truth that comes with a solid cloud database. Another big plus is the real time view of supply chain disruptions which makes scenario planning much quicker than what older legacy systems usually allow.

Cons

It's complicated and expensive to set up and run. It's definitely not a plug and play platform and onboarding usually takes significant time along with costly consulting support to tailor it properly to specific business requirements. There's also noticeable lag at times when handling very large datasets through the Excel add in which can be frustrating when planning deadlines are tight. Other than that advanced capabilities like demand sensing and optimization come with some learning difficulty especially for teams transitioning from more basic tools.

strong forecasting

Pros

Working on NOVA (a climate focused platform that brings together environmental impact projects across multiple stakeholders) I really appreciate tools that support structured planning and scenario modeling. This software is really valuable because it brings data, forecasting and operational planning together in a single environment! Being able to test different scenarios and connect daily operational decisions with longer term strategy is especially helpful when managing complex efforts like sustainability programs and resource allocation.

Cons

Can be challenging to start off with because the onboarding and configuration are fairly complex. It usually takes a solid amount of setup time and expertise before teams can take full advantage of the platform. For smaller organizations or startups like NOVA that are building data driven planning systems, the initial difficulty and integration work can feel quite heavy compared with lighter planning tools.

better visibility for planning

Pros

Having this software in place gives much better visibility across planning and production. As a Quality Production Operator I really appreciate how the accurate data and stronger coordination help cut down on last-minute problems and support consistent quality standards. It also helps operations run more efficiently and makes decision making more informed.

Cons

At times it can feel a bit complex especially for users on the shop floor and adjusting to changes requires some effort to get used to. Still once you get familiar with it, it works well.
