excellent planning workspaces

Pros

Among the planning tools I've worked with this is definitely one of the best! It's simple to use, the planner workspaces are simple to customize and I can check data while I'm on the go. When I need to dig deeper I also have the option to open everything in Excel for more detailed analysis.

Cons

At the moment the AI capabilities still aren't where I'd want them to be and that's disappointing. That said I did see the use cases presented at Sapphire that are on the roadmap and I'm really excited about what's coming next.

Cuts down on time

Pros

Using this software I was able to coordinate demand, supply and inventory planning across different teams. Most of my work centered on reviewing planning runs, checking gaps between forecasts and actual results and validating changes made to demand and supply planning parameters. One capability I really appreciated was how quickly the system recalculates updated scenario parameters. During planning reviews that meant I could work with the most current demand or supply data and immediately understand the effect on overall inventory calculations.

Cons

Sometimes the planning process gets quite complex because of the number of planning models involved and the different stakeholders contributing to it. There is also some difficulty at the beginning especially when trying to understand how planning areas connect with data inputs. Other than that troubleshooting planning discrepancies can require digging through several layers of configuration and input data. When results do not match expectations it can take time to figure out whether the issue comes from the data, the planning logic or the models themselves.

costly and overly complex setup

Pros

Having this software alongside an existing S/4 setup helps keep integration aligned from both the data and system architecture side. It also offers plenty of functions for maintaining safety stock and some of the analytics capability is particularly strong.

Cons

At the same time it is far too complicated for end users with things like master data types, attributes, key figures and planning areas making it hard to understand. Because of that moving a project forward into production with client users is often challenging not just for SEs but even for consultants. Also the price is very high.
