“great dashboard experience”
Pros
In my opinion, The dashboard is really useful and there are plenty of reports available. It gives decision-makers access to the data and trends they need to manage costs effectively.
Cons
I'd still like to see more AI built into the platform especially within reporting to help identify cost-saving opportunities on utility bills.

“support and training is outstanding”
Pros
Navigating around EnergyCAP is not a chore and the product itself has been excellent for our needs. The part I especially want to highlight is the customer support as they are dedicated to ensuring your success. They respond quickly and it's simple to set up a meeting with them whenever needed. EnergyCAP also offers Eco Champions which gives customers a place to connect and learn from one another. On top of that, they run monthly training sessions covering a range of topics. Even after the purchase is complete, they continue to be there and provide support.
Cons
For the way we currently use EnergyCAP, there really isn't anything we dislike about either the product or the company.

“insights that save money”
Pros
Once I got familiar with the platform, it became a really helpful tool for reviewing billing data and understanding the impact on energy and water usage.
Cons
Training courses are basically just videos so they don't feel worth the price. It would be much better if they included something interactive to keep users engaged and let them follow along. A more tailored approach to building reports would also be a nice improvement.

“know where your money goes”
Pros
A huge help for tracking and analyzing both costs and usage. It also gives quick access to the data needed when applying for energy grants and rebates which has been really useful.
Cons
We've run into a few issues with formatting the data exactly as needed but these have largely been due to how the information was entered.

“tailored for energy tracking”
Pros
As an Energy Manager, my main job is keeping a close watch on utility and energy costs as well as overall consumption and this software has been the ideal tool for handling that.
Cons
There are additional features, like bill review and approval, that our organization just isn't using at the moment.

“Team listens and acts”
Pros
Beyond the software itself, the customer service has been exceptional. We were assigned a project manager to help with some program changes and they were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive throughout the process. Everything was implemented the way we wanted which made a big difference.
Cons
Reports are still a bit challenging for me at times. That said, we recently met with our project manager and got more guidance which definitely helped.

“utility tracking powerhouse”
Pros
Energy Cap gives us one place to monitor all of our utility data making it simple to review monthly usage totals as well as yearly totals when we're putting together the budget for the next year.
Cons
Getting comfortable with Energy Cap takes time, as it isn't the most user friendly system and users fear changes affecting configurations. More training would help both new and existing users.

“Impressive reports”
Pros
Everything about it works really well for us. It stores all of our energy data, lets me generate the reports we need and provides dashboards I can share with others who need a high-level snapshot of our energy usage.
Cons
Nothing comes to mind. I'm happy with how it works and it continues to improve over time.

“utility control center”
Pros
Our university has used EnergyCAP since 1990. The current platform excels at managing both energy and accounting aspects of utility billing and our project manager handled the recommissioning expertly. We also now have a direct connection between EnergyCAP and ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager which helps us submit data for city and state building performance reporting requirements. On top of that, our internal chargeback process has gotten better too.
Cons
At times, figuring out which report filters to use in order to show the right data can be confusing. The platform also offers so much functionality that we do not always have the time or staff capacity to take full advantage of everything available. And while we understand it is common in the current market, every add-on does come with an extra cost.

“an all in one tool”
Pros
Tracking invoices and comparing current charges with past usage is much simpler with EnergyCAP, allowing our team to quickly identify whether a bill is reasonable or whether an unexpected increase needs attention. We also rely on the queries to monitor energy consumption and support budget planning. One feature I especially value is the weather normalization since it lets us make year-over-year energy comparisons without weather differences skewing the results. The reporting is customizable and it's also useful that we can add and monitor custom meters that aren't standard utilities, like permitting fees and similar items.
Cons
I would say there is definitely a bit of a learning curve at the beginning especially when it comes to understanding the different modules and how they work together. Writing queries correctly is what really unlocks the system's full value but that can be challenging which is pretty typical for a database-driven program. Even with that, I honestly can't imagine managing the amount of data we handle without EnergyCAP.

“strong data presentation”
Pros
A feature I absolutely love is the reporting especially the wide variety of reports available. The dashboard is also something all of our agencies use regularly and the meter and building group features are very useful as well.
Cons
Chargebacks and splits are still difficult to understand. I tried using the help resources but they don't go into enough detail in those areas. The dashboard reporting filters also need to be expanded. While the Help Center is helpful overall some information feels incomplete and it would benefit from being reviewed by someone who isn't already a user. Clearer instructions especially around cleaning up some of the filters, would make a big difference.

“central energy tracking”
Pros
In my usage of the software a core strenghtof EnergyCap is how well it captures data which is really what every organization needs. It's extremely useful for internal data requests, energy reporting and ongoing tracking and monitoring. There are also plenty of ways to track carbon emissions and view real-time values which adds a lot of value. Overall, EnergyCap works as a one-stop shop for energy reporting and tracking. If an organization doesn't already use a similar platform, I'd definitely recommend it. And if you want more creative or customized dashboards, you can simply export the data and build whatever you need.
Cons
Standard reports in EnergyCAP aren't especially useful for our organization. Creating a customized master report has been a better approach for us, allowing the information to be tailored to our specific needs. Stronger reporting capabilities and improved visualizations for comparing EUIs over time would also be valuable.

“easy and helpful reports”
Pros
Navigation feels very crystal-clear and the platform is simple to work with. I'm not someone who uses it every day and I usually pull data to combine on another platform but it's still easy to find what I need.
Cons
I don't really have anything negative to say. If I had to point to one challenge, it would be the sheer number of reports available. It would help to have a clearer way to understand what each report shows, maybe a report guide with sample outputs and a short explanation of the data each one returns.
