“shop floor visibility done right”

Pros

During the nearly three years I worked at a company supplying parts for MAZDA TOYOTA, this software played a big role in our daily operations. We used it to keep safety and quality sheets organized and it gave us a clear view of what was happening in the Stamping and Weld Cells. It tracked downtime, showed how many coils were being cut and let us see the number of parts being stamped and welded. We also relied on it to print labels for each container. On top of that it told us exactly where containers needed to be stored and where to find them when needed.

Cons

The biggest hassle came whenever the platform went offline because we had to handwrite labels ourselves and that took a lot of extra time. There were also times when the inventory count shown in the app didn't match what was actually in storage.

Right away, I loved how user friendly and simple to use it is.

There isn't anything specific that I disliked.

Across the plant, the data we collect is very simple to access, review and work with.

Cons

We're using Plex's older, lower cost version so I'm sure the newer software includes additional features that would be nice to have.

A few parts of the design and some features feel a bit outdated and could be more flexible.

Almost everything else has been a disaster. Plex has come close to wrecking our company and that is not an exaggeration. Some of that may be tied to a bad rollout by the consulting firm and the fact that we didn't have enough internal expertise to know the right questions to ask. But even after attempting a full reimplementation with a different consulting company, it became obvious that this software was never going to fit our needs. The MRP, routers and BOMs feel completely disconnected which turns planning into an exhausting and inefficient process. You would expect a basic report like a costed BOM to be standard yet it simply isn't available. On top of that their management has shown little interest in resolving these problems. Our Director of Operations documented more than 38 major issues. At this point, we're actively looking to replace the system even though it will cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Pros

Coming from a metal stamping environment is what makes this software stand out. It includes a lot of features that are specifically relevant to metal stamping companies and that makes it feel very unique. I'd definitely recommend it for businesses in this industry.

Cons

The licensing model is the downside because it ends up being very expensive. In our case, it was hard to justify spending that much on it.

“Workflow is too rigid”

Pros

Something this software does well is speed, the cloud based ERP feels fast and responsive in day to day use. The accounting module also offers a lot of functionality which gives it some solid depth.

Cons

Using the software is extremely difficult and it takes a significant amount of training for users to get comfortable with it. We ran into a lot of technical issues too, including labels not working, the drop ship module not accepting decimals and accounting jobs not being available for every entry. Overall, the system feels inflexible and could end up causing problems for a company.

Pros

Having one ERP system that lets me keep tabs on both employees and manufacturing activities has been really valuable. It's helpful to have everything centralized in a single place.

Cons

The biggest challenge with this has been the learning curve when it comes to figuring out where things are and how to complete certain tasks. Even though I'm pretty comfortable with software in general, it feels less user friendly than I expected.

Pros

When it comes to ERP, this covers everything needed to keep track of what's being done, how much time it will take and what else is required to move the project forward.

Cons

Layout could look a bit better from a visual standpoint although I can understand the reasoning behind the design. Even with that, it works very effectively.

Pros

The interface is user friendly, everything works in one integrated system and I can get to it from any device without trouble. Even when I'm at home, I'm still able to create reports and manage schedules.

Cons

I'd still like to see the distribution framework improved. It exists but it could be more refined and efficient for handling all the logistics involved. Support also tends to take longer than expected to respond although we were able to configure the system using their development tools.
