“promotes better focus in class”

Pros

In our 1:1 Chromebook setup, Securly has made a big difference in helping students stay on task during lessons. Before we had it, teachers were basically guessing whether students were actually working unless they kept walking the room nonstop. With this they can view each student's screen live, freeze screens when they need everyone's attention and even open tabs or send websites out during class. It doesn't feel like micromanaging so much as giving teachers a practical way to keep lessons moving without interrupting instruction every few minutes just to redirect someone. Getting it up and running was pretty easy and most teachers learned it quickly. The layout is clean and simple even for staff who aren't especially comfortable with tech. Since it's browser based and connected to our Google accounts, there isn't a lot of extra software or extension management after the initial setup. Since rolling it out, we've noticed better student focus overall and fewer distractions during device time. It also helps teachers step in earlier, before a student gets too far off task or starts falling behind.

Cons

One issue is that larger class rosters can be a little slow to load at times. It also only monitors activity while students are in an active class session so anything outside that window isn't visible. Even with those limitations, this platform has given our teachers much better control of the digital classroom without adding extra pressure to their day.

Pros

Having excellent support and training right at my fingertips has made a huge difference. I'm basically a one person operation yet it still feels like I have a team I can turn to whenever I need help. I started using the site without much formal training and now I feel confident that I'm providing excellent care for our school.

Cons

At the beginning, it was a little challenging to use but once I got used to it, it was fine.

Pros

Being able to view every student's screen in my class at once has been really useful. It lets me quickly tell whether they're staying on task or drifting to something else which makes monitoring the class much easier.

Cons

As with any tool there is a bit of a learning curve with certain features, like limiting tabs. It also takes several clicks to get a session started and I would prefer if that could be done in just one click.

Pros

All the students being visible in one place has been a big help especially with larger classes. It makes monitoring much more manageable and without this product, a lot of students would probably drift to other things online during class.

Cons

Sometimes it doesn't refresh quickly enough to show exactly what students are viewing in real time but that could be related to internet lag.

It's been really useful having some control over what students can do on their laptops during lessons.

Cons

It's not as solid as I'd want yet but it's still in the early beta stage.

Easily being able to track students' progress live as a teacher is incredibly helpful and gives me a clear view of what's happening in real time.

The part that slows things down a bit is having to enter dependencies along with web links.

Uploading classes is simple and keeping an eye on students through the platform works really well.

Lately students have been figuring out ways to bypass this software which has been very frustrating.

Pros

One of the best parts of this app is being able to send announcements directly to specific students' computers and use private chat messages to redirect them when they're off task.

Cons

Having to manually start every class each day isn't ideal. It would be much better if there were a set daily schedule that automatically launched classes at specific times because managing several class starts every day can feel overwhelming.

Pros

Being able to monitor my students' work and check that they're staying on track has been really helpful. I also regularly use the tools to send out URLs and lock computer screens during each class.

Cons

Sometimes it takes a little while for all of the students to appear though that may be more of a Chromebook issue than something caused by Securly.

Pros

Keeping track of how my students use their Chromebooks has been much more manageable. Being able to monitor their screens without constantly walking around the classroom is a huge help. The chat feature has been especially useful for one on one communication about assignments and it also works well for sending announcements to the whole class when needed. On top of that their tech support has been incredibly helpful whenever I've needed assistance.

Cons

The only real drawback is when something stops working and I have to wait for a fix. That said, the support team has always been excellent.
