Easy to learn with great support

Pros

The simple layout, helpful training videos and super responsive live chat (shout-out to Martins!) make the software incredibly easy to get the hang of.

Cons

The H2X team is still developing a few features like more precise heat gain calculations that use different glass values.

precise for complex work

Pros

H2X is both efficient and precise. The team has done a fantastic job simplifying a subject that's normally very complex into a simple tool.

Cons

There's very little to dislike about H2X. I have a couple of small suggestions that could make it even faster but overall it's excellent software.

Replaces tedious manual work

Pros

It makes designing hydraulic systems from scratch so much easier. It completely replaces the tedious old methods of spreadsheets and manual calculations, making the whole process efficient for both designers and anyone reviewing the work.

Cons

It would be even more valuable for designers if it could handle additional systems like sewer pits and pumps.

Powerful and user-friendly

Pros

It's a professional-grade program with powerful capabilities for designing optimal heat pump systems. It's user-friendly, offers tons of design options and ensures accurate calculations. Their response time for support is also excellent!!

Cons

The default settings aren't a perfect fit for the Dutch market and there's a bit of a learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, it's a powerful tool for complex designs.

Simple once you're familiar

Pros

The software becomes very simple once you get familiar with the tools and set up your projects correctly. The heat load calculation feature is especially impressive. Designing mechanical systems with it feels easy.

Cons

It would be great if it could generate schematics the same way it does layouts. The annotation tool could also be a bit smoother but it's not a big deal since we can always mark up PDFs separately.

helps win better jobs

Pros

It actually helps us win more and better jobs. It accurately models complex systems through an easy-to-use interface and the customer service from real people is outstanding.

Cons

Tracing over floor plans can be a little tricky sometimes it's hard to adjust an entire floor if it doesn't line up with the level above. I'd also love easier building templates like a pre-set for a Victorian-style house.

clear designs once you learn it

Pros

Once you get used to it, it's easy to navigate through the different menus and produce clear & concise designs.

Cons

It took some time to get fully comfortable with the software at first but now that I am it's no trouble at all.

simplifies complex calculations

Pros

There's a lot to like but if I had to pick one thing, it's how simple it makes calculating flow rates, velocity and pipe sizing.

Cons

Drawing floor plans can feel a bit clunky initially though it gets easier once you learn its limitations.

Much faster than old methods but takes some getting used to

Pros

It makes designing systems so much faster compared to the long, hand-drawn calculations we used to do.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve that requires an initial time investment.

made my life easier with great support

Pros

H2X genuinely made my life easier. It's user-friendly once you learn it and it actually got me excited to start my drawings each morning. They also have the best customer service! I ask a lot of questions and the team always replies quickly with the answers I need to move my projects forward.

Cons

It's fairly easy but a quick-reference handbook or cheat sheet might be handy for users.

Perfect for non-CAD users

Pros

It's perfectly designed for installers who aren't CAD experts but still need to design systems. It's very drag-and-drop so you don't have to memorize a bunch of commands which makes it easy to pick up again even if you haven't used it in a while.

Cons

For a future update it would be amazing if it could suggest radiator sizes based on the room's heat requirement though that might need manual data from manufacturer sheets.

Easy to tweak designs

Pros

H2X is very simple to use and makes it simple to tweak a design even after it's done. The calculations are fast and you can adjust them easily as the project evolves. The amount of time it has saved us is incredible.

Cons

H2X takes a little while to learn how it wants information to be entered. Once you figure that out it's very easy to use. It can occasionally lag which is a bit frustrating.

user-friendly and engaging, stormwater calculations would be awesome

Pros

This software is super user-friendly and easy to learn. The visual approach makes understanding plumbing design much more engaging. It saves a ton of time and lets you spot design issues instantly. The support team's response time is amazing no matter the time zone and they put so much effort into thoroughly answering all my questions. Great job!

Cons

Don't have any real complaints since the team is always improving the software. That said, adding stormwater calculations would be awesome and I have a feeling it's already in the works!

Easy to switch methods with great exports

Pros

I love how easily you can switch between different calculation methods with just a click. It's very intuitive and the direct export to REVIT and CAD is a huge plus.

Cons

It can feel a bit clunky sometimes with occasional unknown errors and no clear confirmation of what went wrong in design mode.

excellent time-saver replacing spreadsheets

Pros

Our experience with H2X has been excellent. It's so easy to use and has saved us countless hours, replacing spreadsheets that offered no visual feedback.

Cons

There are some features we don't use but that's not a negative they just don't fit our specific workflow.

Holy grail for plumbing design

Pros

I'd been looking for software like this for years and finally found H2X by chance on a consultant's drawing. It's the holy grail of plumbing design! I tried the free trial, got a demo from the super helpful team and was blown away. It's simple, easy to use and has everything a plumber needs for both simple and complex designs without having to hire a consultant.

Cons

Haven't found many downsides yet. I'd love to see stormwater calculations with rainfall intensity added (I've heard it might be coming). It would also be ideal to export PDFs that clearly show all pipe sizes as not all of them display on a single document right now.

great for checking calculations and efficiency

Pros

This software has been incredibly useful for double-checking our plumbing calculations and making the whole design process more efficient. Making changes later takes almost no time compared to manual methods or even using Excel spreadsheets.

Cons

Setting water riser termination heights gets tricky in buildings where different floors have different ceiling heights.
