“good engine insights”
Pros
It lets me keep track of the fleet while also giving visibility into engine faults which is really useful day to day.
Cons
Sometimes the system throws false engine light alerts and that creates extra work on my end to verify whether drivers are actually misusing the equipment or not.

“Laggy UI”
Pros
The GPS tracking itself was accurate but without camera functionality at the time, the system felt pretty limited to me.
Cons
Their customer-facing UI was atrocious and the whole software came across as unnecessarily bulky.

“strong platform”
Pros
This platform is built on solid infrastructure and backed by a clear long-term vision which in my opinion really supports innovation.
Cons
Even with the company's deep experience and strong capabilities, it's not always simple to learn from well-established success stories. At times, when new challenges come up, it feels like Geotab is also figuring them out in real time even though someone in another market may have already solved a similar issue.

“powerful API access”
Pros
Keeping tabs on my vehicle location and driver status is really useful especially being able to see who is resting and who is currently driving. Another big plus is the API support since it's available in almost every programming language and makes it possible to connect MyGeotab with our own system without much trouble.
Cons
It doesn't directly show the total miles for each vehicle within a selected date range. Instead, it only provides all odometer records from the time the device was installed so we have to work it out ourselves by subtracting the first reading from the last one for that period. It also gets very slow when the date range is large and there's no option to search for more than one vehicle at a time.

“Versatile reporting powerhouse”
Pros
One of the biggest strengths of Geotab is how much it can be customized for different customer needs. My favorite feature is the custom reporting especially the Excel-based reports because they let us adjust how aggregated data is presented so it's clearer, more readable and easier to act on when sharing it with different groups across the organization.
Cons
Lately it seems to be moving common functions deeper into extra layers of options which has made the platform feel less accessible than it used to be. It's also become harder to locate things quickly since they removed the colors from the navigation bar along with other visual cues that made the user experience more pleasant.

“Feature-rich”
Pros
It's fairly easy to use and comes with a huge range of features. We're not taking advantage of all of them yet but it's nice knowing there's plenty more we can roll out down the road. It also integrates well with our Outage Management software.
Cons
Sometimes filter changes don't seem to apply right away unless I do a shift-refresh on the webpage. A few of the administration screens could also use an update to make them more user-friendly.

“needs Geotab hardware”
Pros
The app doesn't really offer much on its own without buying the Geotab hardware but once the GPS device is in place, it becomes a really solid fleet management solution. It gives me access to reports, alerts, notifications and useful statistics that show the actual behavior of my vehicles.
Cons
Major updates to both the functionality and the interface happen quite frequently.

“fleet data powerhouse”
Pros
Nothing else we've used comes close to the way Geotab captures and brings together real-world fleet data. You can follow a truck leaving the yard in real time or go back a full year and see the exact way a driver backed into a dock across several attempts. It also lets you rebuild accident events second by second or instantly review every time drivers entered or left a certain location throughout the full history of your database. Another big advantage is their philosophy that the data belongs to you so you're free to keep it and use it however you want, with full system access through a completely open API. The interface is stable and simple. Also it's highly customizable. You can extend it, modify it and adjust it endlessly to improve access to the information that matters most. In trucking, it feels unlike anything else we've worked with: a real shift in how the technology can be used and something that has been genuinely transformative for every customer we've supported.
Cons
The same thing that makes it so powerful can also create headaches too. Their feature set is very forward-thinking and because they keep rolling out new capabilities, older legacy systems can struggle to stay aligned. The more traditional providers like Qualcomm/OmniTracs and PeopleNet/Trimble established back-end data feed patterns decades ago and a lot of Transportation Management Systems are still built around those old models. Geotab delivers data at a level of quality and volume that's in a completely different category. The challenge is finding the right balance between mimicking those traditional data feeds and modernizing TMS platforms so they can actually take advantage of what Geotab provides through its data access. It's definitely an ongoing effort but one that pays off.

“Strong security protocols”
Pros
Their open-platform approach, together with strong security protocols, creates a highly flexible solution that works well for fleets of any size.
Cons
Nothing to complain about. They seem very committed to improving any issue that comes up during our operations.

“useful but complex”
Pros
One thing this software does really well is flexibility. It gives me a lot of freedom to build rules and reports and the platform comes loaded with features. There's also plenty of room to extend what it can do through the marketplace which adds a lot of value. Getting it installed is fairly easy too. It also works well across different industries which makes it a versatile option. On top of that, the integrations with Surfsight and Mobileye are a definite plus.
Cons
The interface can feel pretty complex and that may be a hurdle for some users. There's also no native reporting engine built into the platform so you're basically restricted to Excel-based reports. When it comes to managing a very large fleet of more than 1,000 vehicles, editing and filtering can become challenging. Technical support is another weak spot, with slow resolution times and responses that often don't go deeply enough into the root cause or recommend solid corrective actions. On top of that, there appear to be communication problems between the GO devices and vehicles on the Stellantis platform.

“simple but disconnects too often”
Pros
The system is simple and doesn't take much effort from us to navigate.
Cons
Their GPS and power connection keep dropping and it repeatedly requires a 30-minute off-duty break during the day which follows a U.S. rule rather than a Canadian one. It's also limiting that there's no way to add a generic driver for situations when a dealer or mechanic drives the truck but isn't part of the company.

“Great OBD data”
Pros
Among the most valuable features are the OBD-connected vehicle data, collision reconstruction and the G-sensor for monitoring driver behavior. They gave our business meaningful, real-time information that helped support smarter fleet decisions.
Cons
I found it frustrating it can take quite some time for the product development team to roll out requested features. I understand that every request has to be and tested to make sure it works for all users but some changes still take quite a while. A good example is the delay in adding more currencies for the LATAM and Caribbean regions.

“Keeps drivers on route”
Pros
The live GPS tracking has been a big win for us. It comes with plenty of useful tools and together they make it much harder for drivers to get off route and waste time or fuel.
Cons
There really hasn't been anything I dislike. We're a pretty small company so we don't need all of the management features but I can see how those tools would be valuable for larger businesses with a lot of trucks out on the road.

“useful fuel tracking insights”
Pros
One of the most valuable things about this system especially in Mexico, is how it handles fuel data. Clients are often very concerned about their fleet and want accurate information to confirm whether each unit is operating properly. That ties directly to fuel spending which has a real impact on the business so having that information readily available and being able to calculate it is extremely helpful. The tools Geotab provides, such as performance and fuel-efficiency calculations across different vehicle models, are a big plus because they let us build reports that show the behavior of each vehicle. Support is also a very important part of keeping everything on track. On top of that, the material available in the Community platform is very useful especially the videos and manuals.
Cons
Having a more accessible place to track proposals or ideas related to the platform would be great. I know there is currently a space for that in the Community portal but for example, a few months ago I submitted a case about a report and never received any response afterward. I'm not familiar with how that process works and having clearer updates and visibility into whether those requests are being followed up on would make that part much better.

“Easy to read data”
Pros
The GPS tracking and engine data make sense and don't require much platform knowledge to use effectively. Downloading reports is incredibly convenient and the way failures are presented makes them simple to interpret which helps prevent more serious damage to our units down the line. On top of that, the rules and exceptions are very helpful for understanding driver habits and improving overall driving behavior.
Cons
Something that could be improved is the hover-over explanation for the different modules since it feels too basic and doesn't really give a complete picture of what each module actually does.

“effective vehicle tracking”
Pros
GeoTab has been really effective for tracking our vehicles and giving our company a clear path to operate the fleet more successfully.
Cons
The map features could use some improvement, along with better icons. Customer service is very helpful once you reach tier-two support but the first-tier level still needs work.

“simple setup”
Pros
I appreciate that it is simple to use and help is available whenever it's needed.

Their Drive app can get pretty slow at times although I'm not sure whether that's caused by the app itself or the internet connection.

“Customizable advanced reporting”
Pros
The advanced reporting is one of the best parts and being able to customize each report makes it much more useful for our different needs.

“useful IFTA reporting”
Pros
The tracking trends, fuel usage details, IFTA driver reporting and driver congregation visibility have been very useful to us.
Cons
My biggest issue is compatibility with some of the other software I use. I'm also not a fan of the driver reports and I'd really like to have the driver checklist emailed to me every day. It's been difficult to clearly explain this to Geotab support.

“Powerful asset management tools”
Pros
Asset management is one of the strongest parts of MyGeotab and the level of customization is really useful. Customer service has also been very reliable whenever I've needed help and the regular updates show that the product keeps improving.
Cons
Only thing I'd like to see improved is live tracking speed since updates can sometimes take anywhere from 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
