“Extremely flexible platform”
Pros
Something that really stands out is how flexible this platform is especially for analytics work. That said, it does take a fair amount of time and effort to really learn how to use it well.
Cons
Building interactive dashboards is quite simple and there's a large library of visualizations to choose from. On top of that, customizing them is pretty simple too.

“Responsive support”
Pros
The report designer feels a lot like Excel which makes it approachable even for people without a technical background. The technical support has been excellent as well, the team responds quickly, answers questions in a timely way and often comes back with creative ideas for more complicated reporting requirements. The dashboard features have also improved noticeably especially in the latest version. Another big advantage is being able to customize action events which is extremely useful when you need to apply business logic based on report values.
Cons
in-memory data filtering can slow things down when the semantic layer relies on stored procedures particularly when working with larger data sets.

“Powerful customization and depth”
Pros
The flexibility here is impressive, just about every visualization can be customized extensively. I'm still learning the scripting side which unlocks even more possibilities though it does take a much deeper knowledge of Python than the basic workflow requires.
Cons
There are a few frustrating hidden quirks like when a formula returns null in the first row of a table and that causes every row to display no data, even if the formula is valid for the rest. The software could also be better about explaining failures when a metric set breaks. Most of the error messages are too generic and don't offer enough detail or any real direction on where to look to fix the issue.

“my go-to visualization tool”
Pros
Working with all kinds of data sources is pretty simple and even when a project involves several ETL stages and data enrichment, the platform still feels manageable to move around in. The option to extend features with JavaScript and CSS is a big plus since it lets you tailor things to very specific goals. It also comes with a solid range of built-in charts and graphs that can support many reporting needs and data formats. It has become my go-to visualization tool for building highly customized dashboards and I've been using it daily for around 6 to 7 hours a day over the past 16 months.
Cons
At the same time the product comes with quite a few hidden quirks and frustrating behaviors and some of them never really get resolved through support or later updates. Support is responsive but actually getting a solution can take months and in some cases there is no fix at all. There are also intermittent bugs and features that do not always work as expected. Another major downside is the Developer Seat restriction since full development and editing are limited to a small number of user seats which creates an unnecessary paywall for customers without really affecting the vendor's operating costs. A different licensing model would make much more sense here. On top of that, removing the forum discussions was a major loss because it took away a place where users could connect, share use cases and exchange scripting ideas for solving problems. The documentation is also fairly shallow and sometimes unclear so when support is limited and there is no active community space to learn from others, it becomes difficult to see how developers are supposed to improve and get the most out of the product.

This app is very simple to use and feels user-friendly overall, it's the kind of solution any company would need.

“highly customizable dashboards”
Pros
After using it for more than 10 years I can say it's a very versatile product. The dashboards are highly customizable which has been a big advantage for us. We originally started with it back when it was called Dundas Server and was still under the Dundas company.
Cons
Since the company changed hands the sales and renewal side has felt much less professional. Email replies take far too long and even phone conversations with sales feel like something you have to pay a premium for. Renewal pricing has also increased quite a bit and their emails come across like they were written by ChatGPT.

“Strong security setup”
Pros
I really appreciate its stronger security setup. It lets me configure user authentication without much trouble and decide exactly who gets permission to view content and who can edit it.
Cons
It is a very capable platform but it can feel a bit overwhelming at times because it includes so many advanced features that other BI tools don't offer which also makes the learning curve fairly steep.

“Feature-rich BI platform”
Pros
Having access to more than 80 data sources is a huge plus for me. It really stands out as an impressive, feature-packed business intelligence platform. I've worked with both Tableau and Dundas BI and honestly, Dundas BI feels much more user-friendly to use. In my view, any organization that needs a BI solution should seriously consider it.
Cons
The one area where Dundas BI falls a bit behind is in creating customized infographics since Tableau can do that faster. Aside from that, it compares very well with the other BI tools currently on the market.

“Diverse features, weak support”
Pros
It's a versatile tool. You can work with database sources such as tables and views and even build embedded views when needed. The email service is also a nice added benefit.
Cons
Where it falls short is in the logs and the error messages in the UI since they are far too vague to be truly helpful. On top of that, the support team doesn't seem knowledgeable enough about their own product.

“Highly customizable”
Pros
This is probably the most customizable software I've come across. The training materials are clear and do a good job of helping you learn how to use it properly. On top of that, the support team and user community are both really helpful.
Cons
Because there are almost unlimited possibilities for what you can do with it, it can take time and effort to fully master.

“capable BI platform”
Pros
It has been a very capable BI platform for us and we've already moved our reports over to it. Its dashboarding features are especially strong. One feature I really appreciate is the layering option in dashboards since it makes it much simpler to show or hide elements when needed. The export options to PPT and PDF have also been very useful for our users when they need to present dashboards to their leadership team. On top of that, it's more cost-effective than many of the other big BI tools in the market. The security setup with custom attributes is another feature that stands out as both useful and powerful.
Cons
there doesn't seem to be much support material available online. Most of the time, we have to depend on the Dundas support team or the cube community which can be frustrating when you get stuck. We also had difficulty building our cube in a star schema format, even though that's a basic requirement in most warehousing and BI environments. We weren't able to find a workable approach because the cube seems to bring everything in as a processed result, meaning one denormalized table and that makes the star schema model fall apart.

“Uncomplicated implementation”
Pros
Implementation was uncomplicated and the interface felt clean and user-friendly without much effort to navigate.

“Handles all data-related needs”
Pros
It's biggest strength is how adaptable it is. It's flexible enough to handle just about any data-related need within the platform. If the UI doesn't quite do what you want, you can extend things with custom scripting to get the result you need. The Python Analysis transform is especially useful since it lets you write Python scripts for data analysis directly in the product. Setting up parameters and creating different dashboard actions is also very simple.
Cons
A bit complicated when you're getting started especially if you want to understand all of the features. That said, they provide a solid library of training videos for new customers, along with more advanced videos to help you build up your knowledge over time.

“Solid capabilities throughout”
Pros
Pretty much every time I've asked whether this tool can handle something, the answer has been yes. It feels like it can do just about anything I need.
Cons
Implementing certain features can take quite a bit of time. On top of that, when changes are needed later, you often have to go back and repeat a fair number of steps in the middle of the process especially in the underlying data cubes rather than the dashboards themselves.
