auto Boolean search guidance

Pros

Boolean query generation is automatic and I find tailoring searches fast and simple thanks to the platform's clear guidance and training sessions.

Cons

I've noticed it can be slow to load at times and occasionally the profile pictures show the wrong image instead of the correct one.

Hidden candidate discovery

Pros

Candidates not visible on LinkedIn are easily discovered and I find the aggregated results, complete with emails, work history and skills, make it a true one-stop sourcing solution.

Cons

One annoyance for me is that I can't see which profiles I've already looked at so I keep opening the same people repeatedly and end up unnecessarily wasting time.

Sourcing with email campaigns

Pros

Sourcing, email campaigns and project management are convenient and I find mirroring profiles across LinkedIn and USource particularly helpful for passive talent acquisition.

Cons

However I notice it shows only minimal profile details so I still need to jump into LinkedIn to see the full candidate information.

Background contact expansion

Pros

Daily searches and project setups are simple and I find the tool works in the background to expand contact lists and uncover hidden candidates while other tasks continue.

Cons

I'm still having trouble filtering specifically for DoD security clearances. The tool seems fine at finding candidates with Secret clearances but it struggles to consistently surface people with Top Secret, SCI, or FS (Full Scope Poly) clearances when I narrow searches.

Personalized outreach advantage

Pros

What I appreciate is the ability to send personal messages. Most passive candidates aren't checking LinkedIn and by 2019 LinkedIn has basically become a recruiters-only channel. Being able to stand out from other companies by launching tailored email campaigns sent from various team members lets us differentiate ourselves and gives us a real edge over the competition.

Cons

When it comes to collecting feedback from hiring managers, I'd really like if they could view and submit reviews directly on the platform instead of having to click an emailed link every time. Aside from that annoyance, I find the product simple and the support team consistently responds quickly and handles any questions or issues with the tool in a timely, helpful way.

great tool...

Pros

Using Envoy and the diversity tools has been a real asset. I've managed to configure Envoy for several different searches, building email automation that sends messages plus three rounds of follow-ups which has helped raise our conversion rates.

Cons

Personally I'd like to see better search filters in the diversity tool and broader search capabilities overall.

Simplified niche talent sourcing

Pros

This tool really simplifies my sourcing work and I can consistently pull up relevant candidates because I'm supporting highly specialized software engineers.

Cons

What I miss are custom search options and finer filters so I can narrow down my search to find very specific candidates.

Unified profiles with great insights

Pros

What I liked most was how it pulls together someone's social media traces into a single view. The predictive "More likely to Move" indicator, driven by a proprietary algorithm, really caught my attention. I ran it several times and was genuinely impressed by how often it was spot-on.

Cons

The search tools feel underdeveloped. I wish it offered more filters and a cleaner, more simple UI. At times I ran into stale profile details that were clearly out of date. Another consistent annoyance was seeing work emails listed instead of personal ones which forced me to rely on other free browser plug-ins to pull private addresses. It's frustrating because that personal contact info seems to be available somewhere but this app doesn't expose it so I had to stitch together data from outside the tool.

Fast email and social matching

Pros

Finding emails and matching social media handles is fast and I appreciate how quickly this tool surfaces contact details.

Cons

When I find profiles similar to a candidate I struggle to search for similar NON-LOCAL profiles, there's no obvious way to filter for non-local results. Sometimes I create a search, switch to list view and then reach out to candidates from there. The email compose window that pops up however is fixed in place and can't be moved. I often load a template but like to tweak a couple of lines to personalize each message. It would make a big difference if I could slide that compose window to the side so I can still scroll through and glance at the candidate's profile while editing which helps me add relevant personal touches. Also after I send an email the front and back arrows I use to flip through the search results sometimes disappear, forcing me to refresh, reopen the original search and hunt back to where I left off. Why do those toggle arrows vanish after emailing someone directly from the search list?

email tracking with diversity filters

Pros

Candidate emails, open notifications, messaging suggestions and the diversity filter make outreach easier and I find these features invaluable for day-to-day sourcing.

Cons

I often notice the tool misses some candidates. There are profiles I pull in LinkedIn Recruiter that never show up here. Support told me this is probably because of candidate privacy settings since the product scrapes public sources for details. The search interface has a learning curve and isn't simple. Sometimes details on profiles are out of date or the link to the online source yields no information. Because of how the profile data is presented, I still jump to LinkedIn to get clear context. My teammates and I end up juggling this and LinkedIn Recruiter.

Pros

Fresh talent discovery beyond LinkedIn is feasible and I find the platform effective at uncovering candidates who might otherwise be overlooked.

Cons

Occasionally I find candidates who hesitate because they're unsure how we got their contact details.

auto skill categorization insights

Pros

Search tools auto-categorize skills and positions and I find the diversity option and move-ready indicators very useful for building strong pipelines.

Cons

Can't process over 50 actions on a list at once (e.g. export candidates, request emails, etc.) which is really frustrating for my team.

Unlimited LinkedIn access

Pros

LinkedIn profiles are accessible without Recruiter limits and I find it helpful that multiple online footprints, like GitHub or Stack Overflow, are congreatated for review.

Cons

The profiles I request now take much longer to be created in this tool. It used to be pretty fast but since December 2018 new profiles aren't being generated reliably. I've submitted a ticket about this and haven't seen meaningful improvement yet. Also the Envoy function feels weak, many of the profiles returned don't closely match the roles I'm sourcing for and aren't a great fit.

Multi-source data verification

Pros

A wide range of candidate data from multiple sources is conveniently available and I find this saves time when verifying and contacting prospects.

Cons

They don't already have email addresses for some LinkedIn profiles I discover so I need to submit a request for those contacts, fortunately they tend to respond and provide them quite quickly.

Diversity filtering integration

Pros

Filtering for women and other URMs is simple and I find integration with LinkedIn and social platforms extremely handy for rapid candidate verification.

Cons

For me more Boolean search options are needed and showing TAM for searches would allow me to share that insight with hiring teams to set expectations, plus I want power filters like SeekOut.

Broader pipelines with diversity tools

Pros

The diversity feature accelerates broad candidate pool creation and I find technical hiring managers especially value this capability.

Cons

I don't have any real complaints about this tool. I kept asking our Recruiting Project Manager repeatedly to bring it on board because I enjoyed it so much during the trial. As a suggestion (and I'm not sure how practical this is), providing a 'LinkedIn Recruiter' link option instead of just a public LinkedIn profile could be more convenient.

email analytics optimization

Pros

Monitoring emails through each stage is simple and I find the merge previews, ratings and suggested send times extremely helpful for engagement.

Cons

great tool but sometimes I do run into issues where email retrieval is spotty, roughly two-thirds of messages get pulled in at best and the process can be sluggish when delivering that data to me. It would be great if there were ways to import phone numbers and other contact details automatically.

automated outreach with tracking

Pros

Email addresses, automatic follow-ups, keyword suggestions and tracking align outreach and I find these features very efficient.

Cons

not a con but I'd really like to see a search tab inside the Track - Scheduled section. That would make it easy for me as a recruiter to locate and delete a candidate before I send a follow-up message when they have already responded.
