“Aligned Multi-Company Payroll

Pros

we have about 1,400 employees spread across a few different companies so payroll could be a nightmare. But since we connected it to our ERP payroll module it saves us so much time. The best part is that my employees can just log into their own portal to grab their pay history or year-end tax forms whenever they need them. It saves my admin team from having to stop what they are doing to dig up those documents for everyone.

Cons

Getting everything set up for my specific company took a while. I also ran into trouble because I had to dig up a bunch of old historical info that I just didn't have sitting around.

“outstanding customer care

Pros

what I like most about this tool? Honestly it's their customer service. It's impressive. Every time I talk to them, the reps are super professional and patient. They don't make you feel dumb for asking questions.

Cons

Okay so my least favorite thing? The price. Its like it goes up every single year. For a small business like mine it's getting really hard to afford.

“User-friendly with reliable support

Pros

Well it is very user friendly. I also love that support is always there when I need it and the option for remote support is a lifesaver.

Cons

sometimes I just can't figure out how to pull a specific report which is frustrating. And honestly every now and then I'll submit a support ticket and it takes forever to get a real answer.

Pros

Before Greenshades my office was drowning in paper. We were completely paper-based. Now? We are 100% electronic. Going live with them was the best decision to finally get us organized.

Cons

When something does break it seems like their support team takes weeks or even months to actually fix it.

Pros

All my employees actually like using it which never happens with software! They love having all their tax info and pay stubs stored in one easy spot.

Cons

My biggest problem is how slow the site runs sometimes. I feel like I am back in 2003 waiting for pages to load. It's definitely not my computer or internet, it is the only site that does this to me.

“flexible anywhere payroll access

Pros

the fact that I can get to my payroll info from anywhere, my phone, my laptop at home and look back at checks from months ago is just amazing. It gives me so much flexibility.

Cons

a few of my staff members really struggled with the apps and checking their email on them. It's a big change and honestly we probably should have prepared for that part better during the setup.

“Stress-free 1099 filing

Pros

It honestly gives me peace of mind. It's super easy to use and it makes year-end 1099s so simple. I just drop my vendor info into their template, upload it and their team reviews it for me. They flag any potential errors so I can fix them�before�filing. And get this, they actually mail and transmit the file to the IRS for me. Can you say stress-free?

Cons

Hmm...sorry I can't think of anything bad to say right now!

“smooth W-2 distribution

Pros

Since we started using it I don't have to print and hand out check stubs anymore. And last year-end? Distributing W-2s to employees and reporting to the authorities was the smoothest, most timely process we have ever had.

Cons

The window for submitting W-2s came with a huge price jump. They need to chill with the cost increase or give us a longer window to file. They have five different pricing levels right now which is too many. Cut it down to three and give us a bit more time.

“easy tax filing reminders

Pros

It's very easy to use Greenshades to file my quarterly and annual tax returns. I also really appreciate the daily reminder emails they send when tax deadlines are coming up. Another thing I love is being able to complete Federal I-9 forms online right in the system.

Cons

I wish it handled more of the random local taxes and fees we have to deal with in certain states. The returns for those are usually simple since we only have a few people there but it would be awesome to just process them right in it like everything else.

“simple timekeeping with helpful support

Pros

It is just super easy to use. I mainly stick to the basic timekeeping and printing W-2s but anytime I've had to call support, they are so helpful. And if they don't have an answer right away, they always follow up with me which I really appreciate.

Cons

Back when we tried to get it up and running in 2013 it was a nightmare. I felt like the company grew too fast and couldn't handle it. When they moved to the cloud there were definitely some major bumps. Since we are a 24/7 operation any downtime for updates or maintenance was a huge headache for my team.

“My experience with this tool

Pros

We do not use every single module it offers but for 1099 reporting and IRS filing, I rely on it completely. It is honestly a lifesaver when tax season rolls around. I've never had an issue installing it or using it and now I just depend on it to get my filings done right. Their support staff is always quick to respond and really helpful. Honestly I'd hate to think what my filings would look like without it!

Cons

Honestly I can't think of a single complaint. We have used it for years and never had a problem. It's the one third-party software I just don't have to worry about.

Pros

Filing 1099s for my contract workers is so convenient now. I don't have to deal with any paperwork which is the best part.

Cons

the website portal is a little confusing. The steps are not super clear when you log back in and I have definitely submitted things not realizing I didn't need to update certain sections.

“affordable, easy payroll integration

Pros

I shopped around and this software is way less expensive than anything else I looked at. For the price, it's super easy to use. I also love that the info I put into it flows neatly into our payroll system instead of just dumping a bunch of messy data on the accounting side.

Cons

Calling customer service can be a pain. If the first person can't fix it, it's really hard to get bumped up to someone who actually can. I wish I had a dedicated person to call every time. Instead, I get a random person and have to spend ten minutes explaining our whole benefits setup from scratch each time.

“Clear paystub PTO visibility

Pros

I always thought it was very user friendly. It has all the info an employee could need and I especially loved having our PTO balances right there on the paystub so everyone could see.

Cons

It was an effort to set up for some employees but now that it's done it's super easy to use every day.

“Flexible access & great value

Pros

We use it alongside our Microsoft Dynamics SL accounting package. It gives our employees online access to their paystubs and W-2s, plus a lot more since we do payroll in-house. The system is customizable and the support team is always accessible and actually wants to help. Even though it was originally built for Dynamics GP, they customized it to work with SL in a bunch of different ways. For everything it does, I think it's a great value.

Cons

Since it's not built specifically for our main accounting software (Dynamics SL) sometimes it's a headache to get everything to work perfectly. The support team is super helpful but there are just some limits they can't get around. Overall though, the good stuff still outweighs the bad.

It's just easy to use. And their customer service? Prompt, patient and they actually know what they are talking about.

Cons

a lot of the reports could be way more user friendly and easier to customize to what I actually need to see.

“Simple but integration is lacking

It is pretty simple and I like that I can manipulate the information easily to get what I need.

Cons

It just does not talk to our payroll software, Darwin 16, very well. It pulls the wrong info all the time. The Greenshades techs don't really know Darwin so they just say they can't fix it. Plus we are mostly in Alabama and the software can't even create an upload file for our state taxes.

Honestly the price caught my attention first and then I stayed for how easy it is to use.

“Efficient timesheets!

Pros

Timesheets have been a huge win for my admin team. They are easy to use and import right into Dynamics GP. The payroll tax module is also great for reviewing and filing my quarterly and annual taxes. Integrating the software was simple and I love that customer service is just part of the package.

Cons

We looked into adding online W-2s for our employees last year but it seemed like so much work that we just gave up. I am hoping it gets smoother. Also employees should be able to see more than just a year or two of old W-2s without us having to buy an extra plan.

honestly I just love how easy it is to click around between different tabs and screens. It's very interactive.

Cons

drop down menu for "Political Subdivision" under an employee's profile is massive. I wish I could just type a few letters to narrow it down instead of scrolling forever.
