“Awesome payroll setup for businesses

Pros

It has some really solid features for managing business payroll. It's efficient and makes things like payroll reports and tax calculations easy. Definitely a great tool for any HR team.

Cons

Every single feature I've used in it has worked perfectly. No complaints at all, everything runs just how it should.

“Poor support and no refund, disappointed

Pros

I can't really say much, I wasn't able to use it since I'm on a MacBook.

Cons

It didn't work with my Mac and they said they'd refund me if I sent over proof of purchase for another product. I did but then there was zero follow-up. No communication after that.

What I really liked was how easy the program was to use especially for doing payroll and handling W2s. It just made the whole process smooth.

Cons

One thing that bothered me a bit was the lack of training material. It made getting started and using the program a little harder than it should've been.

It's super affordable which also makes it easier to upsell to clients. That's a nice bonus.

Cons

So many issues, I couldn't even inactivate employees while processing payroll. And don't get me started on the support, it's been terrible. They were rude and unhelpful.

It is a budget-friendly option and works great as an alternative to pricey online software. It's got everything I need to handle basic payroll tasks without any fuss.

I wish they had a better setup for handling direct deposit payrolls. I get that it's a desktop app and has its limits but it would've made a big difference.

No positives here. Total waste of money in my opinion, awful value and didn't do what I needed it to do.

Their customer service is basically nonexistent. The staff didn't seem to know much about the software either. Not a good look.

It's easy to manage payroll with this and I like how simple it is to generate reports for managers, employees or even government filings. Makes the process less stressful.

No cons. Overall the performance is decent. They do push out regular updates when issues come up, so at least that part is solid.

You seriously won't find a better payroll tool at this price. Payroll Mate does everything QuickBooks Payroll used to do for me but way cheaper and it's user-friendly too.

I seriously can't think of a single thing I don't like about it. They're always upgrading and improving the product which I really appreciate.

“Not sure about this tool

Nothing to say really, I couldn't use anything beyond the demo version.

Cons

I tried using the demo but it kept telling me the version had expired even though I'd never used it before. I couldn't even open it. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend trying it, it felt sketchy like I might've downloaded a virus or something.

“Been using this for a decade

The price is great and it's easy to use. This was my first time handling payroll and it made things way less intimidating.

Cons

All I did was ask if they could increase the font size on MICR checks. The employee couldn't help through the phone app and told me to get a refund and look elsewhere. Now they won't even respond to my messages. Definitely not professional. I wouldn't recommend them.

Pros

I used it from 2013 to 2017 and honestly, it's a great deal. I was able to handle payroll for multiple companies without buying extra licenses. It's perfect for small businesses with basic payroll needs.

Cons

Their customer service was so bad that I won't be buying the software again. Getting any kind of helpful answer was nearly impossible. I've used ADP, Paycom, QuickBooks and Patriot and honestly every single one was better than Payroll Mate.

“Just right for a small company

Pros

We run two small retail shops with around 15 employees total across both. This software made payroll and filing forms easy. Once it's set up, it's easy to manage employees and keep up with reports. We tried out the ACH feature but decided just entering info manually on the bank site works better for our small team.

Cons

My only real gripe is that the software looks outdated like something from the Windows XP era. It could really use a modern UI update to make it easier and nicer to use.
